A webinar on “Emerging Trends for the Treatment of Infectious Diseases” was organized by the Department of Biological Sciences of female campus. The purpose of the webinar was to increase the public awareness related to infectious diseases and to give an insight on diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19.
Speaking in the webinar, Dr. Kaijian Hou from Longhou Hospital, China highlighted the diagnosis of COVID-19 and its treatment plan to fight with the pandemic and reemergence of infection. Another invited speaker Dr. Barkat Ali Khan, Pharmacologist from Gomal University, KPK shared his perspectives regarding awareness about infectious diseases and various factors imparting role in the spread of infectious diseases. An interactive session was also held between the guest speakers and participants.
Earlier, the Chairperson, Department of Biological Sciences, Dr. Sobia Tabassum welcomed the international and national guest speakers and discussed the rapidly spreading infectious diseases. She emphasized on the need to address how the pharmacists and physicians are at forefront of COVID-19 emergency and how many pharmacological treatments with potential clinical benefits are there that can prevent the emergence and reemergence of infectious diseases. Dr. Sobia Tabassum thanked all the participants and appreciated the efforts of Dr. Bushra Uzair and her team in organizing such an informative event.
