Vice President Academics Professor Dr. Ayaz Afsar visited the Department of Biological Sciences. He was accompanied by Director Academics Syed Naveed Ehitsham.
On the occasion, Chairperson Dr. Sobia introduced her faculty members with VP academics and presented the laboratory need base analysis and feasibility report. She briefed that currently the department is offering three programs; Biotechnology, Bioinformatics and Biology with two dry labs for computational work and two experimental general labs along with other departmental project labs.
Dr. Sobia further shared the up gradation of departmental labs as an advanced Biotech lab to facilitate the research in the applications of biotechnology tools. She appreciated the remarkable efforts of worthy Rector who provided the 14 million grant from the trust endowment fund to the Department of Biological Sciences. She said that establishment of advanced Biotechnology lab would contribute immensely to recent research outputs, training of students and researchers.
Dr. Ayaz appreciated the efforts of the department and highlighted the importance of high technology research to prepare the students for careers of constructive services to society in academia, industry and health related fields. He emphasized on the unabated technological advances in the field of science which have opened up growth opportunities in newer dimensions. “To shine in the revolutionary workplace of tomorrow, one has to have the perfect combination of theory and practical knowledge” he added. VP academics said that Biotechnology is the field of future that is beneficial to the individual as well as the society.
