The Department of Media and Communication Studies at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) held an event showcasing innovative student-led campaigns and projects addressing key social issues.
The program featured screenings of Development Support Communication (DSC) campaigns and a display of Advertising and Public Relations projects. The event highlighted students’ practical skills and drew notable guests, including Mr. Wakeel Khan, Director General PEMRA, Mr. Tahir Farooq Tarar, Legal Head, PEMRA, Dr. Manzoor Afridi, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, IIUI; Dr. Amna Mehmood, Incharge Female Campus, IIUI and the Zamzam Autism Center, Mrs. Fasahat Jabeen and Kishwar Parveen.
Three student-led DSC campaigns were screened during the event. One initiative, “Andaaz-e-Fikr,” focused on autism awareness through interactions with children, expert interviews, and gift distributions. Another campaign, “Green Will,” addressed Pakistan’s climate challenges through school activities, animations in Urdu, and art competitions. A third project, “Raah-e-Rozgar,” supported vulnerable families by providing resources to help them earn a living.
Alongside these campaigns, Advertising and Public Relations students presented creative projects that combined traditional and digital advertising approaches. Participants showcased products like reusable snack bags, innovative soap sheets, and sports gear, with supporting materials including social media campaigns, websites, and billboards.
The event concluded with shields presented to distinguished guests in recognition of their support. The event speakers hailed the department’s efforts to prepare students for real-world challenges while creating awareness about pressing societal concerns.
