Introduction of the Conference
Department of Education, International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) is organizing an international conference on the theme “International Conference on Distance Education and E-Learning 2020.” This conference aims at generation, dissemination, advancement and application of knowledge at local, regional and international levels. Though we are living in the 21st century, but still there are many barriers in the formal education system. Therefore, Distance learning is a modern way of learning allowing students to study within their own space and time without being physically present in the schools/colleges/universities.
In this modern era, distance learning is a contributing force to social and economic development of developed and developing countries. Many higher education institutions are successfully offering academic & professional programs through online system of education. Therefore, distance education is becoming an essential part of the mainstream educational system. The globalization of distance learning provides many opportunities to the developing countries to realize and achieve educational goals. In exploring the fundamental features and challenges faced in teaching today, one needs to look at the role of universities in enhancing concept learning among students, particularly of developing countries. Therefore, this conference will provide a plate form to elaborate the role of distance education and e–learning in promoting teaching and learning during 21st century. This conference will provide a platform to the academicians, professionals, scholars, administrators, policy makers, curriculum developers and researchers to share research based knowledge and furnish valuable recommendations to cope with the challenges distance education is facing during 21st century.
 
Scope of the Conference
Conference sessions will aim at addressing the emerging issues and challenges in the distance education and e-learning. The focus of the conference includes finding out the solutions of the existing hurdles in the promoting distance education and e-learning, particularly in developing countries. This forum will also provide an opportunity to the renowned national and international academicians and researchers to conclude the ultimate possibilities and guidelines for the maximum role of distance education and e-learning in the national development. This conference will address the gaps in the objectives and outcomes of the universities to streamline the emerging strategies in enhancing distance education and e-learning.
