PARTICIPANTS EXPLORE IQBAL’S MESSAGE IN WORKSHOP HELD AT IIUI
Rector International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Dr. Masoom Yasinzai has said that Allama Iqbal was not only an intellectual; he was a worthwhile philosopher and enthusiastic champion of Islamic universalism, our affection for him will remain shallow unless we understand his message, put aside our differences and stand united for progress of the country.
He expressed these views being a chief guest at concluding ceremony of a three-day workshop on “Towards Understanding Iqbal in 21st Century” organized by Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue (IIIRD) of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI). Acting President Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed and Director Coordination IIIRD Dr. Talib Hussain Sial and resource person of the workshop Khurram Ali Shafique also joined the concluding ceremony. Urdu language teachers of the Islamabad model colleges participated in three day workshop. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai while appreciating the role of IIIRD urged the organisers to hold another workshop of same nature, invite scholars and teachers across the country. He stressed on the participant teachers to be devoted to their profession while saying that nations cannot be built without good teachers. “Societies with racism and sectarianism face decline, we would have to ignore our personal differences and introduce our students with true message of Iqbal” he said. Rector IIUI added that teachers can give a new life to the nation, they are the real builders, they should first study and understand the core message of Iqbal and disseminate it to students and to the society at large. He lauded the efforts of Dr Mumtaz Ahmed and Dr. Talib Hussain Sial for conducting such an important and valuable workshop on Iqbal.
Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed, in his address on the occasion announced that IIRD will provide every possible cooperation to Islamabad Model colleges for organizing such workshops in future. “Educational institutions and society have a close link, educational institutions can pave the way to progress of society” He said.
Earlier, Dr. Talib Hussain Sial briefed the participants about objectives IIIRD and its “outreach” programme. Representing the participants of the workshop, Ms. Samina of Islamabad Model College For Girls, Sector F-7/2, Islamabad and Sher Ali, Lecturer, Islamabad Model College For Boys, Sector F-10/4, Islamabad shared their views about the experience of workshop and termed it as a precious opportunity to understand the message of Iqbal. At the end, certificates of were distributed among the participants of the workshop by Rector IIUI and President.
WORKSHOP ON “TESTING AND EVALUATION IN THE DISCIPLINE OF HUMANITIES” CONCLUDES AT IIUI
Literature is mirror of a society, in the aspect of research in literature, students must possess not only a literary taste but they should also keep in mind about salient features like use of language, coherence and literary criteria.
These views were expressed by the speakers of a two-day workshop on “Testing and Evaluation in the Discipline of Humanities” organized by Urdu Department (Female Campus) of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI).
Renowned literary figures affiliated with literature and research, Dr. Najiba Arif, Sheeraz Fazaldad, Dr. Humaira Ishfaq and Dr. Sabahat Mushtaq delivered valuable lectures.
Speaking in workshop, Dr Najiba Arif said that best literature must reflect the reality of life, while both literature and research be accordance with contemporary circumstances of the society. Dr. Humaira discussed Urdu literature and use of new technology and modern ways in its teaching. She added that societal behaviors and socio political circumstances of the society get absorb in the literature. Sheeraz Fazaldad, while talking on the importance of the workshop said that there is a dire need to introduce students with new avenues of modern research. Dr. Sabahaht, in her lecture discussed way of expression and use of language for research. At the end of the workshop, Director female campus distributed certificates among the participants of the workshop.
Dawah Academy International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) will conduct “Hajj Training Workshop” for Women, during 2 September to 5. In workshop women will be guided about rituals of Hajj, administrative matters, obligation, importance and different aspects of performing Hajj. The timing of workshop will be from 9 Am to 1 pm. Officers Welfare Association (OWA) IIUI Holds Eid Milan Party
Rector International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) Dr. Masoom Yasinzai has said that respect, affability, brotherhood are the foundation pillar of progress, and development of every society, to follow the same prerequisites officers of the university can make this university an ideal centre of education. He was addressing to “Eid Milan” party organized by the Officers Welfare Association (OWA) as chief guest yesterday. On the same occasion Acting President IIUI Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad, Vice President IIUI Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman, President OWA Raja Muhammad Munir also addressed while large number of officers were present.
In his address Dr. Masoom Yasinzai said that negative approach and conflicted attitude can ruin the society we should always discourage negative and passive thinking. He further said that it is utmost need to give pace to our efforts and struggle to achieve the core cause of the university. This dream may only come true when all the concerned officers work together with sincerity. Rector IIU said that high officials will call on for the recommendations for vision 2025 soon. Dr. Masoom, wished good luck for the officers who got retirement in recent pat.
On the occasion in his address Acting President Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad showed strong hope in his address and said that all the officers may keep their efforts and devotions for the university up. He said that we should present ourselves as role model to our subordinates so that the peaceful environment may prevail in the university.
Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman said that every officer should care of that he would be accountable in front of Allah for his deeds and actions. He further showed deep satisfaction that every member of the university is working with honesty and undivertedly . He felt proud that IIUI is considered top ranked universities of Pakistan.
At the end of ceremony the officers who have been retired in recent past presented shields from OWA. Earlier Raja Muhammad Munir thanked to all the worthy guests and presented them bouquets.
OFFICERS WELFARE ASSOCIATION TO HOLD EID MILAN TODAY
Officers Welfare Association (OWA) of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) will hold eid Milan party on Wednesday, 28 August , afternoon at Faisal Masjid Campus of the university. Rector IIUI Dr. Masoom Yasinzai shall be the chief guest of the party while Vice Presidents Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad and Prof. Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman will be the guest of honour on the occasion.
To organize Eid Milan Party was decided in the executive body meeting of OWA. The meeting was chaired by the president of OWA Raja Muhammad Munir while Vice President OWA Saif ur Rehman, General Secretary Rana Asghar Ali Shahid, Finance Secretary Noor Hussain, Media Secretary Syed Muzammil Hussain were also present on the occasion. Other members including Dost Muhammad, Hawa Yaseen, Altaf Barki, Zulqarnain Akhtar also attended the meeting.
IIUI ORGANIZES WORKSHOP ON “MADRASAHS ENGLISH TEACHERS’ TRAINING”
A two-week long workshop on “Madrasahs English Teachers’ Training” under the auspices of Department of English of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) in collaboration with US Embassy started here at male campus of the university on Monday.
Renowned international teaching trainer Don Johnson from US and Dean Faculty of Language & Literature Dr. Munawar Iqbal Gondal are the resource persons of the workshop while Advisor Student Affairs (male) Dr. Safeer Awan is coordinator of the workshop. Around forty Madrasah teachers from Gilgit Baltistan, Kashmir, Peshawar, Mohmand Agency, Malakand, Peshawar, Islamabad and other areas of the country are participating in the workshop.
The workshop includes communication language teaching, teaching pronunciation, vocabulary, lesson planning, teaching writing skills, teaching grammar and reading skills and interactive sessions to improve English language proficiency and teaching method of the participant teachers.
In his welcome note on first day of the workshop, Dr. Munawar Iqbal said that this workshop will help the participants to stay updated with latest teaching methodologies of English language. “English language is the only tool through which we can disseminate message of Islam globally and we should give it special importance to excel in various fields” he said.
He was of the view that Arabic is no doubt important for Muslims but it is also need of hour to equip ourselves with good English language proficiency. He added that a teacher in the society possesses an important duty as he can make and break lives. He stressed upon the participants to learn English Grammar and communication and practice new ways of teaching in their profession.
Don Johnson, in his introductory remarks informed the participants about the aims of the workshop and said it would be one of the best experiences of life to teach Islamic scholars. He said it will also provide an opportunity to teachers to learn from those with more experience.
Dr. Safeer Awan who is coordinating the workshop informed the participants about the schedule of the workshop and stressed upon them to avail this opportunity with devotion and sincerity. Two-week long workshop will conclude on September 06.
IIUI TO HOLD 2 DAY TRAINING WORKSHOP FOR VISITING TEACHERS
Department of Urdu (Female) of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) is organizing a 2-Day training workshop for visiting teachers which will start at Female Campus of the university at 10:00 am Today (Tuesday). Dr. Najeeba Arif, Dr. Humaira Ishfaq, Dr. Sabahat Mushtaq and Sheraz Fazaldad, will deliver lectures in the workshop. Topic of day first of the workshop will be “ Being a Teacher, A unique Experience” while “Testing and evaluation in the discipline of humanities” will be the topic of second day.
IIUI HOLDS WORKSHOP ON DESIGNING RESEARCH PROJECTS
A workshop on ‘Designing Research Projects’ conducted by History and Pakistan Studies ( Female Campus) department of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) started on Monday at Faisal Mosque Campus of the University.
Day first of the workshop was attended by a large number of students of the faculty. Participants took keen interest in the lectures of Dr. Uzma Rehman who is resource person of workshop and works as Research Associate in University of Copenhagen, Denmark.
An emergency meeting to review the damage caused by recent rains in Maryam Block and Science Block of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) was held here on Monday under the chairmanship of Acting President Professor Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed.
Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed showed deep concern over the damage caused by rainwater and directed responsible authorities to complete the repairing work before the start of the upcoming semester so that students may not face any problem. Dr. Mumtaz while appreciating the rehabilitation efforts of the administrative officers directed to expedite the efforts to solve the issue at permanent bases. The meeting observed that rainwater caused irremediable loss but efforts of the staff to drain out the water were remarkable.
The meeting decided that HEC and other concerned departments will be contacted to help for recovery of the loss caused by rains. It was also decided in the meeting that precautionary measures will be taken to avoid such events in future while a committee was formed to solve this issue.
During the meeting Sahibzada Sajid-ur-Rehman, Vice President (AF&P) lauded the role of administrative officers and other staff members who inspite of vacations reached on the occasion and controlled the situation.
Meeting was attended by Dr Zaitoon Begum, Director female campus, Shagufta Haroon, Director Academics, Dr. Muhammad Sher, Dean Faculty of Basic & Applied Sciences, Raja Khalid Mehmood, Director Admin, Engr. Tahir Khan, Deputy Director, Project & Development, Rana Asghar Ali Shahid, Addl. Director Finance and other responsible officers. Few days back Maryam block of the female campus of university was badly damaged when rainwater entered in the basement of the block.
International Islamic University Islamabad IIUI has been placed in top ten universities of the General Large category of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) list of universities rankings. According to special report published by Jang Group, International Islamic University is placed on 9th position among the 18 universities stated in the “Large” category of the list.
It is pertinent to mention that admissions tests at IIUI have been started from Monday, August 15, 2013 and a large number of students have applied for various degree programs of the university.
Eid ul Fitr Prayer will be offered at Faisal Mosque, Islamabad at 08:00 AM. Prof. Dr. Tahir Hakeem of Faculty of Shariah & Law, International Islamic University, Islamabad shall deliver Khutaba-e-Eid-ul-Fitr.
On the occasion of Jumma-tul-Wida while delivering Khutaba-e-Jumma Vice President, International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) Prof. Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman said that Allah has given us a chance to make accountability of our deeds and seek real purpose of holly month of Ramadan. Fasting is a unique way of purification of souls for Muslims and Allah wants to make Muslims His honest and obedient men. Dr. Sajid ur Rehman said that following the golden tenets of sunnah is the only key of success and prosperity in every matter of life.
He said that Holy Quran was revealed in holy month of Ramadan which is golden source of guidance for human beings. He said that we should struggle hard to find the blessings of Laila tul Qadar which is better night than that thousand of months and seek the salvation from Allah. Dr. Sajid ur Rehman said that secret of our success is lies under the following the orders of Allah so that we should only focus towards the teaching of Muhammad (P.B.U.H).
He said that we should not forget our neighbors, poor and orphans in the time of Eid felicities. At the end Dr. Sajid ur Rehman made prayer for the peace, prosperity and progress of Pakistan as well as unity of Muslim Ummah.
The educational project of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Maktaba Tu Dawa in Pakistan arranged grand Iftar Party at Kuwait hostel of International Islamic University Islamabad yesterday. The Director Maktaba Tu Dawa Abu Saad Muhammad bin Saad Aldoussri participated in Iftar party as chief guest, while hostel provost IIUI Dr. Abid Masood, Dean Faculty of Arabic Dr. Bashir Ahmed, faculty members of different departments were also present there. The Iftar party was arranged for more than fifteen hundred students. On the occasion Muhammad bin Saad made special prayer for the prosperity of Pakistan and unity of Muslim Ummah.
Concluding ceremony of Training Programme titled “Tarjuma o Tafseer” organised by Female Campus and Dawah Centre For Women (DCW) of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) was held at Fatima tu Zuhra block of the university.
In concluding ceremony, special Dua was conducted which was attended by Director Female Campus Dr. Zaitoon Begum and Incharge DCW Shagufta Umer. Dr Zaitoon Begum paid gratitude to Shagufta Umer for her cooperation in organizing training programme and special dua at concluding ceremony. Books published by Dawah Academy were also distributed among the participants of the ceremony and Tarjuma o Tafseer classes.
