DCW HOLDS CONCLUDING CEREMONY OF IOP

Dawah Centre for Women International Islamic University Islamabad organized a concluding ceremony of Islamic Orientation Program with the title “Family Law in Islam; Provision and Practical Implementation” for women lawyers of twin cities and students of IIUI and other universities in which more than 50 participants joined the program, the program lasted for 5 days.

Prof Dr. Al Gahazali member Shariah appellant bench of Supreme Court and Professor of Islamic Research Institute IIUI was the chief guest of ceremony, while Mrs Zubada wife of ambassador of Iraq in Pakistan was guest of honor. He while addressing the participants said that Islam fully gives priority to family on other issues as the family is the unit which play an important role in the formation of society and prosperity of the society is highly depended on the prosperity of family. He was of the views that family issues must be taken as positive to be solved them out.

He stressed on the lawyers’ participants that they should play constructive role in family matters giving preference to solutions rather to provoke disputes. Dr. Al-Ghazali further said that every male and female must be aware of their responsibilities which are associated with them. Earlier, Mrs Shagufta Umar In-charge DCW gave detail briefing about the IOP and urged to expand its benefits by arranging more programs. Participants while expressing their views regarding IOP appreciated the course terming it positive step in learning family matters. At the end completion certificated were distributed among the participants.

IIUI HOSTS ALL PAKISTAN INTER-VARSITIES ALLAMA IQBAL SHIELD COMPETITION

The second round of 17th all Pakistan inter-universities competition for the award of “Allama Iqbal Shield” was held here at International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) on Thursday.

Second round of regional competition for the Allama Iqbal Shield was attended by more than 40 contestants from 14 universities in which students of National Defense University (NDU), National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) and National University of Modern Languages (NUML) clinched top position in English and Urdu Categories of the contest.

According to the results, In the English category of the competition, Khushal Khan of NDU clinched first position while rest two positions were grabbed by NUML’s Sunaina Saeed and Hadia Arif respectively. In the Urdu category, NUST’s Makhdoom Shahab ud Din stood first while second one was also clinched by the same institution’s Malik Naeem. Third Position of the Urdu category was taken by Muhammad Ali Shah of NUML. The event’s judges were Dr. Sibghatullah Khan from Islamabad College for Boys F-11/1, Director Publications NUST Muhammad Ilyas Chishti, Dr. Fozia Janjua Department of English IIUI and Dr. Saira Batool from Department of Urdu, IIUI

Third and final round of the competition would be held at Higher Education Commission (HEC) in coming months where 30 students across the country from Urdu and English categories would compete.

Results ceremony of the competition was presided over by Acting President Dr. Mohammad Bashir Khan while Deputy Director (Academics, HEC) Dr. Tahir Ali Shah was the guest of honor. The ceremony was also joined by Students’ Advisor IIUI Dr. Tahir Khalili, Advisor to the President IIUI Dr. Fazl e Rabi Mumtaz, Additional Students’ Advisor Abdul Qadir Haroon, other IIUI officials and students.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Bashir Khan said IIUI is proud of hosting competition and such activities are necessary for enhancing the intellectual capacity and confidence building of the students. He added that confidence is key to success while good communication and efficient narrowcasting are the salient attributes of successful personalities. He lauded HEC for arranging special event and providing a meaningful platform to the talent of country. “Youth is real hope for country, Pakistani students do not only have ability to add pace in country’s progress but they have also potential to make Muslim Ummah united and developed” said IIUI Acting President. He also appreciated the efforts of organizers and thanked for HEC support during arrangements of the contest.

Tahir Ali Shah, said in his speech that HEC would keep arranging such activities and all support would be provided to educational institutions for organizing productive programs and competitions. He appreciated the contents, style and confidence of the contestants. He apprised the audience about the details of rounds of competition while telling that the All Pakistan Declamation contest was started in 1994 with help of Ministry of Education. “The event’s core objectives include improvement of confidence of students, efficient communication skills, language proficiency and promotion of dialogue among youth” he maintained. He also lauded the arrangements of IIUI organizers.

Dr. Tahir Khalily, while expressing his remarks said IIUI witnessed remarkable talent of Pakistan youth during last four years while hosting the declamation competition and university would keep arranging extra and co-curricular activities with more zeal in future. He felicitated the successful contestants and urged them to participate with full energy and interest in such constructive activities.

At the end of the ceremony, Dr. Bashir Khan awarded shields to the winners of competition and judges of the competition while a souvenir was also presented to Deputy Director Academics HEC by Dr. Bashir Khan.

BALUCHISTAN STUDENTS, TEACHERS VISIT IIUI

A thirty member delegation of teachers and students from different schools, colleges, madrassas and universities of Baluchistan visited International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) under the” youth empowerment project “of Baluchistan Rural Support Programme (BRSP) Thursday.

The delegation of BRSP exposure programme was headed by Nisar Ahmed Khan, Coordinator Youth Empowerment Project.

The delegation was briefed in detail about the university by Additional Director Protocol and Public Relations, IIUI D.K Hairan Khattak. The participants of delegation took keen interest in getting details about university faculties and constituent units and their academic programs. He apprised the participants saying that IIU is a unique academic institution playing key role for the Muslim Ummah. The curricula of the university are a beautiful blend of conventional and modern education where forty nations of the world are being nurtured.

Hairan Khattak further said that university gives top priority to students of Baluchistan and they would find every individual helpful if any assistance and cooperation would be needed to the students of Baluchistan. The participants termed the visit useful and thanked university administration for warm hospitality. Later, Participants also visited university faculties.

SUDANESE VCs’ DELEGATION VISITS IIUI

A delegation of the Vice Chancellors of Sudanese Universities visited International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) on Wednesday and met with university high-ups.

During the meeting, both sides agreed that bilateral cooperation, exchange of students between IIUI and Sudan’s universities and steps for MoUs would be taken. The delegates and IIUI administration agreed that bilateral efforts and cooperation in the fields of Shariah and Law, Computer Science and Technology and Arabic Language would help in providing quality education to the students of Ummah.

The Sudanese delegation was comprised of Vice Chancellors Neelain University, Sudan Prof. Dr. Ahmed Altayed, Vice Chancellor Kasala University, Sudan, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abd Allah Abdal Raheem and other education experts of Sudan. The delegation was received and briefed by Acting President IIUI Dr. Muhammad Bashir Khan while Vice President Higher Studies and Research Dr. Tahir Mansoori, Acting Director General (AF&P) Khalid Mehmood Raja, Director President Secretariat IIUI Abdullah Al fifi, Deans and Directors of university were also present on the occasion.

On the Occasion, Dr. Bashir Khan apprised that IIUI is working on agenda of internationalization where more than 28 thousand students from more than 30 countries are getting quality education at university. He said that Muslim countries are facing contemporary challenges which could be solved if Muslims would forge unity among their ranks.

Islamic Universities should utilize resources and work with zeal for the cause of Muslim Ummah and educational institutions are the best sources which can work for development of Muslim countries, Said Dr. Ahmed Altayed. He added that Arabic faculty teachers of his university would always be available to share their experiences with IIUI. He also invited a delegation comprising of prominent members from IIUI faculties to visit his university while adding that it would help in learning from experiences of each other.

Dr. Muhammad Abd Allah also said that bilateral exchange between Kasala University and IIUI would help in exploring new avenues for development of education.

Earlier, Dr. Tahir Mansoori briefed the delegates regarding IIUI institutes and Academies while Abdullah Al fifi read special message of President IIUI Dr. Ahmad Yousif Al-Draiweesh which was for the guests, he thanked the guests for visiting IIUI and assured of all possible support.

Later, the delegation visited central library while they were presented university shields also.

IIUI STALL APPRECIATED AT VCS FORUM

International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) participated in 3rd Vice Chancellors’ forum titled “Universities in the Islamic World: Facing Global Challenges” where a stall was set up of IIUI which was visited by Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Rector IIUI Dr. Masoom Yasinzai and a large number of visitors hailing from different areas of country.

The IIUI stall was duly appreciated as university publications, briefing on Faculties & Departments of university and admission process guidance was provided by the IIUI officials.

Inaugural Ceremony of the event was also attended by the Rector IIUI.

The event was jointly organized by the Comsats Institute of Information Technology, Pakistan; Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of Pakistan; Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Trainings, Government of Pakistan; Higher Education Commission, Pakistan; Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, Morocco; and the Federation of Universities of the Islamic World, Morocco.

ORIENTATION SESSION FOR NEW STUDENTS OF FSS HELD AT IIUI

An orientation session for new students of faculty of social sciences (FSS) spring 2015 semester was held at female campus of the university.

Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. N. B. Jumani, Director (F.C) Dy. Dean (FSS) Dr. Samina Malik, Chairpersons and Incharges of all departments of Faculty of Social Sciences, faculty members and new students attended the ceremony.

Chairpersons/ Incharges/ Representatives of Department of Anthropology, Education, History & Pakistan Studies, Islamic Art & Architecture, Media & Communication, Sociology, Politics & IR, Psychology, provost office, student activities center, and fee and exam section gave an orientation about their respective departments and provided guidance about student related issues.

Prof. Dr. N. B. Jumani, in his welcome note enlightened the students with his inspirational and motivational speech about the future prospects of getting admission in Faculty of Social Sciences of university.

Dr. Samina Malik, in her concluding remarks emphasized the importance of social sciences as an emerging field and hoped for the success of students in future.

AMBASSADOR OF KAZAKHSTAN CALLS ON PRESIDENT IIUI

Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Islamabad Bakhitbek Shabarbayev called on President International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Dr. Ahmad Yousif Al-Draiweesh.
During the meeting at the office of President IIUI, both officials discussed issues of mutual interest. The ambassador of Kazakhstan invited Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh for a conference on peace in Astana which he told will be held in coming months.
He also lauded the books of President IIUI which he has written on topics of moderation and peace. He added that President IIUI will also be invited for a separate visit to Kazakhstan where he will meet with the Minister for Education and heads of universities in Kazakhstan.
Dr. Al-Draiweesh while accepting the invitation said that IIUI is keen to extend bilateral ties with all the educational institutions of world. He added that almost all Muslim countries being represented at IIUI by the students of various Muslim countries. He said that conference in Astana is being conducted on an important topic. President IIUI said Islam is religion of peace and its true message should be disseminated throughout the world and universities can play vital role for accomplishing this goal.
At the end, exchange of the shields and publications took place from the both sides.

SEMINAR ON NATURAL AND MANMADE DISASTERS HELD AT IIUI

International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) organized a workshop on “natural and manmade disasters and their management” at new campus.
The event was organized by the Students’ Advisor office (male) in collaboration with Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) and Prime Minister Office.
The event concluded with presence of number of valuable figures. Concluding ceremony’s Chief Guest was Rector IIUI Dr. Masoom Yasinzai while Mr Asrar Ayub, Director Linkages, knowledge management cell prime office Islamabad, Miss Nabeela incharge linkages knowledge management cell prime minister office, Students Adviser Dr Tahir khalily and Additional Students Advisor Dr Abdul Qadir Haroon were also present on the occasion. .
Asrar Ayub delivered a detailed lecture on the topic of the workshop which was duly appreciated by the audience. He appreciated the interest of young participants in the topic and lecture and vowed that he would soon conduct a series of workshop which would help in bringing positive and constructive results across the country.
Dr. Masoom Yasinzai assured that IIUI would be found available all the time whenever there is anything constructive being intended. He added that IIUI is committed and devoted to play its vita role for nurturing the young minds according to the contemporary requirements integrated with teachings of Islam. He also lauded the Students’ Advisor Office of IIUI for conducting such a useful activity.
Earlier, Dr Tahir Khalily while opening the session said that “we are doing our best to keep the campus safe from any kind of disasters”. He added university is mulling to install fire alarms all over campus. He told that Students Advisor Office of IIUI is going to launch a society comprised of students and faculty members in order to conduct more seminars and activities.

ADVANCED ELECTRONICS LABORATORIES INAUGURATED AT IIUI
CHAIRMAN HEC & CHAIRMAN KRL JOIN INAUGURATION

The Islamic Development Bank’s (IDB) funded Advanced Electronics Laboratories project was inaugurated by the Chairman Higher Education Commission Pakistan Prof Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed and Chairman Dr. A.Q. Khan Research Laboratories Pakistan Mr. Ejaz Ahmed Mukhtar here at International Islamic University Islamabad, Thursday.
On the occasion, Rector IIUI Prof Dr. Masoom Yaseenzai, President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, Vice President Higher Studies and Research Dr. Muhammad Tahir Mansoori, Vice President Academics, Dr. Bashir Khan, Principal Investigator AEL Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed, VCs from different universities, Deans, Directors, officials from HEC, KRL were also present.
The Advanced Electronics Laboratories Project is duly funded by the Islamic Development Bank; it is first ever international scientific grant at International Islamic University (IIU), Islamabad and also first international “advanced electronics specific grant” in Pakistan.

On the occasion, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed said, Advanced Electronics is universally recognized as a major component of the economic development, and such growth is evident in cases of Taiwan, Korea, Malaysia, Sweden, Norway and USA. He further said this facility on one of the most important research and development area of 21st century. Chairman, HEC expressed his joy while saying that International Islamic University has started MS & PhD program and substantial R&D in the area of Advanced Electronics for human resource development for support in Consumer Electronics, Micro-and Nano-electronics, Photonics and Energy Electronics. He was of the view that, IIUI has taken initiative and leads the development of an international level research grade scientific facility on one of the most important research and development area of 21st century.

Dr. Mukhtar said government has prepared strategy with focus to develop effective cooperation among academia and industry to capitalize on demand for quality products and new processes; The Higher Education Commission is already serving as a catalyst for university-industry partnership to identify new technical challenges, find their solutions and assist to launch new programs in the relevant sectors.
Mr. Ejaz Ahmed Mukhtar said that Advanced Electronics is currently one of the most researched areas globally where academia, research councils, consumer industry and defence industry are pouring huge amount of money to craft the future. He further said, this “laboratories facility” is one of the great means of reaching out to the professional and educational community, and bring to their knowledge the state of the art technology and the rich intellectual talent that the academia has to offer.
Chairman KRL was of the view that, International Islamic University has been the Premier seat of learning in South Asia with special emphasis on Islamic disciplines, the Hadith, Fiqh, Law, Islamic Thought & Civilization, Social Sciences and Engineering occupying the central position.
Dr. Masoom said the best part of the project which reflects real engineering to work around the theme of cost effectiveness with optimum utility. He further maintained that, the laboratories are designed and developed in such a way that they will be used for collaborative research project both in and outside the university including the national scientific organizations. He urged that, the university authorities are proposing to make it a “Centre of Excellence” with a particular focus on the Energy Electronics; which will serve as a user’s facility on national scene with a specialized academic program in line with the Strategic Vision Plan of the country.
Dr. Al-Draiweesh said, the university has take steps into the field of Modern Sciences and Technology is a major leap towards equipping the Muslim Ummah with tools and expertise required to highlight and define the relevance of Islam in changing modern times to the whole human life, thought and action.

Dr. Ahmed Shuja gave detail briefing on the Advanced Electronics Laboratories Project to the audience. Dr. Tahir Mansoori in his vote of thanks paid high tribute to all the guests and participants on their presence. At the end guests were presented university crest by the Rector and President.

IIUI TO HOLD INAUGURATION CEREMONY OF ADVANCE ELECTRONICS LABORATORIES PROJECT TODAY

The inaugural ceremony of Advance Electronics Laboratories Project at International Islamic University Islamabad is going be held today (Thursday) at new campus of the university.

The Project will be jointly inaugurated by the Chairman Higher Education Commission Pakistan, Prof Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed and Mr. Ejaz Ahmed Mukhtar, Chairman Dr. A.Q Khan Research Laboratories Kahuta Pakistan.

The Advanced Electronics Laboratories Project is duly funded by the Islamic Development Bank; it is first ever international scientific grant at International Islamic University (IIU), Islamabad and also first international “advanced electronics specific grant” by this funding agency.

Rector IIUI Prof. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, President IIUI Prof. Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al Draiweesh and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed Advisor & Principal Investigator of AEL will host the high profile dignitaries from Islamic Development Bank, KSA, senior officials and team leaders from other universities, multinational companies and industries, national scientific and strategic organizations, academic community, HEC, PEC, and Planning Commission, who are attending the inaugural ceremony.

PRESIDENT IIUI VISITED FEMALE CAMPUS OF THE UNIVERSITY

President International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) visited female campus of the university on Wednesday and reviewed the under construction hostels’ work and other future plans at the campus.

On the occasion, Director female campus Dr. Samina Yasmin Malik, Director Administration Khalid Mehmood Raja, Director Planning and Project Ashraf Ghani, Director Finance Muhammad Khursheed Alam and other officials were present.

President was briefed about the under construction hostels that two of the three blocks of the hostels has been built and soon more than 1100 female students would be able to avail quality residence in the newly built hostels.

Dr. Al-Draiweesh directed on the occasion that efforts of hostels construction be expedited while saying that female students are the important asset of IIUI. He instructed the concerned officials that best furniture and security facilities must be provided in the female hostels. He added that there should be no discrimination among the male and female students of the university while female students’ issues must be solved on priority basis. President IIUI said on the occasion the university administration is keen to further expand the female campus while he also directed female campus to arrange constructive programs for the students which would help in nurturing the minds and polishing the skills of the students. He also assured full support in this regard.

Meanwhile, Dr. Al-Draiweesh also visited the site selected for the construction of new faculty rooms at female campus where he constituted a high level community which would establish a comprehensive plan in this regard.

IPD HOLDS TRAINING SESSION ON PHONICS

A training session on phonics organized by Institute of Professional Development (IPD) of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) was held for the Principals and teachers of the IIUI Schools on Wednesday which took place here at Faisal Mosque campus of the university.

Ms Coral George, a phonic specialist from UK was the resource person of the training program while it was attended by the female teachers and principals of IIUI Schools hailing from different areas of the country.

Project Director IPD Dr. Saeed ul Hassan Chishti, Training Management specialist, IPD Saneeha Khalid and other officials of the institute were also present on the occasion.

Colral Geroge who involved the audience via interactive sessions, gave practical examples of pronouncing words and class room management. She also trained the participants about the topics of Grammar, pronunciation, and spoken English. She also answered to the number of questions asked by the participants and trained them about overcoming the common mistakes during teaching.

Earlier, Saneeha Khalid apprised the audience about brief history, achievements and future goals of IIUI schools. She stressed on the teachers to follow the values of IIUI and said students be nurtured in accordance to teachings of Islam.

IRI ORGANIZES IN-HOUSE LECTURE ON THE “EFFECTIVE USE OF THE INTERNET FOR ACADEMIC RESEARCH”

An in-house lecture was organized by Islamic Research Institute (IRI) of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) on effective use of the Internet for academic purposes at Faisal Mosque Campus of the university.

Dr. Muhammad Sajid Mirza, Principal Librarian, Dr. Muhammad Hamidullah Library, IRI was the resource person whereas Professor Dr. Zia-ul-Haq, Director General, IRI presided over the session. Academicians and students from both campuses attended the lecture.

Professor Dr. Zia-ul-Haq, in his speech on the occasion thanked Dr. Mirza for delivering such a timely and informative lecture and emphasized that such activities must regularly continue. He reiterated his resolve to raise Islamic Research Institute to the highest academic standards by providing state-of-the-art resources, facilities and trainings to its academicians and staff.

Dr. Mirza, in his lecture, opined that the Internet is being used as a key source of information by the academia all over the globe. “Researchers locate their required information sources through the Internet, using libraries’ and publishers’ catalogues; access online research journals, e-books, theses and databases; import references and citations; check similarity; attend webinars or online meetings; join massive open online courses (MOCC); submit research papers for publication/conferences; search for fellowships/grants; and join mailing lists” he added. After having briefly introduced ‘basic’ and ‘phrase search’ methods, he went on elaborating advanced search techniques on search engines in order to reach the most relevant and refined results. Practical examples were also presented to explain the Internet research strategies.

After the presentation there was a question-answer session in which the audience enthusiastically participated.

DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY HOLDS PH.D. PUBLIC DEFENSE OF MS SUMARA NAZ’S DISSERTION

Ph.D. public defense of Ms Sumara Naz, department of Psychology was held at central library of IIUI who completed her Ph.D. dissertation titled ‘A clinical study on the effectiveness of indigenously adopted Novaco’s model of anger management for individuals having psychiatric problems in Pakistan’ under the supervision of Dr. Muhammad Tahir Khalily, Chairman Department of Psychology (male campus), IIUI.

Ms Sumara’s work mainly focused on the integration of Novaco’s model with an indigenous model grounded in Islamic teachings to manage anger in psychiatric patients. Most of the psychotherapists in Pakistan are practicing the Western mode of counseling, which does not fit in the cultural context and hence clients cannot relate themselves to those techniques. Keeping this in view she has formulated a manual for anger management to be used in clinical settings to deal with anger problems in psychiatric patients. Integration of Islamic teachings with modern techniques of cognitive behavior therapy to manage anger in psychiatric patients will prove to be a milestone for anger management in Pakistan.

CEREMONY IN HONOR OF PRESIDENT IIUI HELD

A felicitation ceremony was organized by Central Jamiat Al-Hadees in honor of President International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh who was conferred Tamgha-e- Imtiaz by the government of Pakistan for his untiring efforts in the field of education especially comparative jurisprudence.

The ceremony was attended by Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Inter-Faith Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, Badar Al-utaibi of Saudi Embassy, Director Maktab ud Dawah Dr. Muhammad Bin Saad Al-Dosri, Dr. Abdul otain of Rabita Alam e Islaami, Former Minister for Religious Affairs Aijaz ul Haq, Acting Ameer of Central Jamiat Al-Hadees Maulana Abdul Aziz Hanif, Head Jamiyat Ulma e Islam AJK Maulana Saeed Yousaf, Rector IIUI Dr. Masoom Yasinzai and a large number of scholars.

Speaking in the ceremony, Sardar M Yousaf lauded Dr. Al-Draiweesh for his services to Pakistan and Muslim Ummah. He added that he along with Dr. Masoom Yasinzai playing vital role in making IIUI an ideal and leading university of the Muslim Umaah and world. He was of the view that his ministry is interested in working with IIUI for promotion of Arabic language and added that as a pilot project 50 professionals would be trained by IIUI in Arabic language soon. Federal Minster said that government is mulling to float a bill regarding making Arabic language compulsory in Pakistani education system from Primary to intermediate. He further said that government is also working on establishing Quran complex and numbers of Saudi organizations have vowed to support this idea while he said that it is a visible example of Pak Saudi string ties. Sardar Yousaf added that Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has always stood with Pakistan in moments of grief and happiness as well.

Speaking on the occasion, Aijaz ul haq said that Dr. Al-Draiweesh is one of the best humans he met in the life who is an example of brotherhood. He appreciated his services while quoting his books and said that the books are precious asset of Muslim Ummah as the writer addressed the most contemporary issues.

Abdul Aziz Hanif said that Dr. Al-Draiweesh has come to Pakistan for a sacred cause and his hard work has led IIUI towards the prosperity and development. Saeed Yousaf in his remarks said that Pak Saudi relations are forever and IIUI is an example of mutual brotherhood between both countries.

Dr. Masoom Yasinzai said in his speech said that IIUI and Saudi Arabia have a unique relationship which has produced constructive steps such as Dr. Al-Draiweesh’s presence at IIUI as President. He added that IIUI is working for the unity of Muslim Ummah while he suggested that government should establish Quran complex at IIUI as it has scholars who can see the complex in best way.

Dr. Tahir Mansoori, the Vice President IIUI also felicitated Dr. Al-Draiweesh on behalf of the teachers and students and appreciated his services for IIUI.

At the end, Dr. Al-Draiweesh thanked Central Jamiat Al-Hadees and government of Pakistan for arranging ceremony and conferring Tamgha-i-Imtiaz. He reiterated his resolve that he would continue his efforts to disseminate Islam’s message of peace through IIUI. He termed Pakistan as his home while adding that he received immense love in Pakistan. He said that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are brethren countries and prayed for further depth of ties between both states.

The event was also addressed by Abdur Rasheed Hijazi, Faisal Afzal Shaikh and other scholars. At the end, a souvenir and award of Khidmat I Islami were awarded to Dr. Al-Draiweesh while university crests were also presented by the President IIUI to the Federal Minister and other guests.

SAUDI DELEGATION VISITS IIUI
KSA TO CONTINUE SUPPORT OF IIUI, FAISAL MOSQUE: JASSIM M AL-KHALIDI

A high level Saudi Embassy delegation headed by the Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Jassim M Al-Khalidi visited International Islamic University Islamabad and met with top IIUI officials including Rector IIUI Dr. Masoom Yasinzai and President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh.

The Saudi ambassador assured during the meeting that KSA would keep providing cooperation and assistance to Faisal Mosque and IIUI. It was agreed by the both sides that bilateral comprehensive policy would be formed to promote Arabic language and exchange of faculties in this regard would be held while experts of both sides would work together to introduce easy methods of Arabic learning and teaching .

The Saudi delegation was comprised of Cultural attaché of Saudi Arabia Hazza Al-Ghamidi, Director Maktaba tu Dawah Dr. Muhammad bin Saad Al-Dousri, Director General Rabta Aalam-e-Islami Muhammad Abduho Ateen, other Saudi diplomats while Vice President higher studies and research Dr. Tahir Mansoori, Vice President Academics Dr. Muhammad Bashir Khan, DGs, Deans and Directors were also present on the occasion.

The visit is aimed at boosting further bilateral ties between IIUI and KSA, said Jassim Al-Khalidi speaking on the occasion. He said IIUI is unique hub of learning which a ray of hope for whole Ummah as it provides quality education to the students of various Islamic countries. The ambassador assured that IIUI would be provided full support in its developmental and academic projects.

Dr. Hazza said in his remarks that he has honor of being a teacher at IIUI and KSA embassy would be found available all the time for cooperation in cultural activities at IIUI.

During the meeting, Rector IIUI said that Pakistani and Saudi people are closer to the hearts of each other and they have a strong bond of brotherhood. He added that IIUI and KSA have a unique relationship since the inception of the university. He told that IIUI Is looking forward for bilateral cooperation, projects and exchange of delegations with the Saudi universities as it would help to learn from the experiences of each other and it would produce positive results.

Dr. Al-Draiweesh said that visit of Saudi delegates has proved that a milieu of brotherhood and love exists between IIUI and Saudi government. He also apprised the delegates in detail regarding the future plans and programs of the university. He reiterated his resolve that IIUI would keep working for dissemination of moderation and Islam’s true message of peace.

Dr. Tahir Mansoori, Dr. Mohammad Bashir Khan and others also expressed their views on the occasion and termed the visit a vital milestone for the academic progress.

FINANCIAL SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED TO STUDENTS AT DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION

Department of Education of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) organized a third merit based scholarship award ceremony in which male and female students of B.ED (Hons) were awarded financial scholarships by Pakistan Reading Project of USAID.

Dr. Nabi Bux Jumani, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences IIUI and Dr. Samina Malik, Deputy Dean of FSS distributed the scholarship cheque amongst the students.

PRESIDENT IIUI ADDRESSES TO STUDENTS OF SHORT ARABIC COURSE

President International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh addressed to the participants of a three-month short Arabic course separately in male and female campuses of the university.

The course is organized by the Arabic Language Centre (ALC) of Faculty of Arabic which commenced few days back. A handsome number of professionals have been registered for the course in both campuses where they will be introduced with grammar, reading and speaking skills of the Arabic language by experienced teachers from, Egypt (Al-Azhar University), Sudan and Pakistan.

In the female campus, President IIUI presided over a sessions which was also attended by Vice President Dr. Tahir Mansoori, Dean Faculty of Arabic Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Bashir, Dean Faculty of Social Science Dr. Nabi Bux Jummani, Director Female Campus Dr. Samina Yasmin Malik, course coordinator Dr. Zaheer Ahmed and senior teacher Dr. Abdul Moniem.

Dr. Al-Draiweesh said on the occasion that Arabic is the language of Quran and the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and it is necessary to have introduction with Arabic when it comes to understanding of Quran e Kareem. He welcomed all the students and hoped they would be able to speak and interpret Arabic language at the end of the course.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Bashir said that Arabic is language of Quran and people enrolled in the program are lucky as they are chosen by the God for understanding Quran and language of Prophet (PBUH).

In his address at the male campus, President IIUI said Arabic learning and teaching is the need of hour. He said Islam is religion of peace and moderation and the students of the course would be able to explore the true message of Islam as they would be able to understand Quran and Hadith. RECTOR IIUI URGES STUDENTS TO PROMOTE INTER-PROVINCIAL HARMONY

An orientation session for the newly enrolled students of management sciences at International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) was held at female campus of the university.

The orientation session was presided over by Rector IIUI Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, Director Female Campus Dr. Samina Yasmin Malik, Chairperson and Faculty of Management Sciences (FMS) Syeda Shabana Kirmani and staff members of FMS.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Masoom Yasinzai urged the students to promote inter-provincial harmony adding that IIUI is a unique educational institution place where students from various countries and provinces of Pakistan acquire quality education integrated with teachings of Islam.

He stressed on the students to remain focused on studies and have full devotion to knowledge adding that it would help to build their bright future.

Dr. Samin Malik said that education paves the way for success of nations and IIUI under a dynamic leadership providing quality education to the daughters of Ummah. She assured that all possible facilities would be provided to the students.

Syeda Shabana, in her address said that the students would be equipped with the best professional skills at FMS and co-curricular and extracurricular activities at the faculty would help students to polish their abilities and skills.

Earlier, students were given a presentation regarding registration process and other relevant steps of enrollment.

PRESIDENT IIUI VISITS UNDER CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS

President International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh visited the under construction cafeteria for the faculty members and project of boundary wall.

Dr. Al-Draiweesh has directed the concerned officials to expedite the efforts of completion and also directed that projects should be completed within minimum time.

The President IIUI was briefed about the cafeteria project by Director Project and Planning Ashraf Ghani while Director Administration Khalid Mehmood Raja was also present on the occasion.

Later, President IIUI was also briefed about the boundary wall project by Maj. Gen. (R) Khalid Rao, Managing Director Telecom Foundation.

DR. BILAL PHILIPS CALLS ON PRESIDENT IIUI

Renowned Islamic scholar and founder of Islamic Online University Qatar, Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips called on President International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Monday.

The meeting took place in the office of the President IIUI and both the heads discussed issues of mutual interest.

During the meeting, mutual cooperation between IIUI and Islamic Online University came under the discussion and it was agreed that steps to enhance bilateral partnerships would be taken.

Dr. Al-Draiweesh told Dr. Philips that IIUI playing its vital role in dissemination of Islam’s true message and students of more than 40 countries acquiring quality education integrated with teachings of Islam.

At the end, a university crest was presented by Dr. Al-Draiweesh to Dr. Philips.

HAIRAN KHATTAK PRESENTS PAPER ON PASHTO FOLK LITERATURE

Renowned literary personality and Additional Director Protocol and Public Relations International Islamic University Islamabad D. K. Hairan Khattak participated in First one-day National Conference on Folklore of Pakistan and presented a paper on Pashto Folk literature.

The event was organized by the Department of Sindhi, Federal Urdu University. His comprehensive paper on the topic was duly appreciated by all the participants and audience. D.K Hairan Khattak elaborated the depth and association of Pashto literatures’ genres in his paper.

TURKMENISTAN’S AMBASSADOR CALLS ON RECTOR, PRESIDENT IIUI

Atadjan Movlamov, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Pakistan called on Rector International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Prof. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai and President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh.

In the meeting a number of matters pertaining to the educational cooperation and mutual interest were discussed particularly the tie-up between International Islamic University Islamabad and International University for Development of Turkmenistan.

The Ambassador highlighted that an International conference is being organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan and Society of Civilizations Pakistan to mark the 20th anniversary of “Turkmen Policy of Permanent Neutrality” on 15th March, 2015.

He further appraised that the Policy was announced by President of Turkmenistan in 1995 on the occasion of Economic Cooperation Organization Summit in Islamabad and it was endorsed by the Pakistan. ”Pakistan was the co-sponsor of the resolution at the United Nations when this policy was endorsed by the world body unanimously “.Ambassador maintained.

H.E ambassador urged IIUI support in organizing this conference in which International University of Humanity and Development is also participating. He was the view that, the conference would also give a vital opportunity to both the International Universities to come closer and have cooperation with each other in future.

On the occasion, Dr. Masoom Yasinzai extended full support and cooperation in regards to the conference to Embassy of Turkmenistan and the Society of Civilizations Pakistan.

Rector IIUI added that university is ready for the cooperation with open heart and it would be a great step if the exchange of academicians and students happens among the universities of both countries. Dr. Al-Draiweesh also expressed his views regarding the arrangements of the conference and assured maximum support from IIUI. He further purposed the maximum participation from other Muslims countries should be ensured in the conference to strengthen the Muslims unity.

The meeting was attended among others by Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Qureshi, President, Society of Civilizations Pakistan, Mr. Muhammad Ashraf Ansari, and Member Executive Council of the Society, and other officials of the University.

56TH SHARI`AH COURSE FOR LEGAL FRATERNITY KICKS-OFF AT SHARIAH ACADEMY

The 56th Shari`ah course for Judges, Attorneys, Public Prosecutors and Legal Officers commenced here at Shariah Academy of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI).

As many as 26 nominees are enrolled in the course from various law departments from all over the country, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Inaugural ceremony of the course was conducted in Shari`ah Academy Lecture hall which was attended by Dr. Muhammad Tahir Mansoori Vice President Higher Studies and Research IIUI. Dr. Sohail Hassan, Director General Shari’ah Academy and Dr. Habib Ur Rehman Chairman Training Department Shari`ah Academy also addressed the Participants.

Dr. Muhammad Tahir Mansoori, enlightened the participants about Islamic Law and newly emerging trends, activities of law enforcing and judicial institutions at national and international level. He also briefly cited out recent legislation in Muslim world in the field of family, fiscal and other laws.

Dr. Sohail Hassan welcomed the participants and ensured all available assistance and facilities during the session. Dr. Habib Ur Rehman, briefed the participants about the theme of Shari’ah Course, and other prominent activities of the Academy.

DCW HOLDS TRAINING PROGRAM FOR FEMALE FACULTY MEMBERS

A three-day orientation program on Quranic understanding for the female faculty members of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) was organized by the Dawah Centre For women (DCW) of the university.

The course, which concluded here at DCW, was attended by 43 female faculty members. Its concluding ceremony was presided over by Dr. Tahir Mansoori Vice President IIUI. The ceremony was also attended by Incharge DCW Shagufta Omar, former Director female campus Dr. Zaitoon Begum and course coordinator Faryal Ambreen.

In his address, Dr. Tahir Mansoori said Quran is a book which opens avenues of blessings to the people who strive for its comprehension and apply its message in their practical lives. He suggested some important books on principles of understanding Quran. He also told that university is mulling that a compulsory subject of Quran studies would be introduced in coming semesters. Dr. Tahir Mansoori also lauded the services of DCW staff and felicitated for arranging constructive orientation program.

Shagufta Omar said on the occasion that participants were the fortunate personalities who were chosen by the God to attend this sacred effort. She told that centre has so far organized 92 programs while it has trained more than 300 Hajj trainers in 68 cities of the country who are working for Hajj training in various areas of the country. She added that DCW has trained 35 thousand women so far in its various training programs.

Dr. Zaitoon Begum lauded the role of DCW in society building steps taken by the centre. She suggested that training programs for Hadith and Fiqh should also be organized.

At the end, participation certificates were distributed among the participants by Dr. Tahir Mansoori.

IIUI LAUNCHES LINK ON WEBSITE TO FACILITATE HOSTEL STUDENTS

International Islamic University Islamabad has launched a link/portal on the university website with the title “IIUI Hostel” to facilitate the students of varsity.

IIUI hostels management launched this link on university website where informatory material has also been uploaded.

According to hostel management, seat renewal form has been uploaded on varsity website which can be downloaded for the spring semester 2015. The link also contains informatory and introductory material and requisite prescribed Performa to facilitate the students and boarders instead of collecting information by visiting offices.

CONDOLENCE REFERENCE FOR KING ABDULLAH HELD AT IIU

About 500 non-Muslims embraced Islam after witnessing a simple, swift funeral of Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al Saud, said President International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh Monday. This he told in a condolence reference held for King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz at new campus of International Islamic University Islamabad.

It was attended by the Rector IIUI Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, Vice Presidents, DGs, Dean and Directors.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Masoom Yasinzai pay tribute to the late Saudi King and said IIUI stands with the Saudi nation in this moment of grief. “All the officers, employees and students of varsity pray for the eternal peace of departed soul” said Dr. Masoom Yasinzai.

He told that IIUI organized funeral prayer in absentia for late Saudi King and condolence reference was also held earlier for King Abdullah while an IIUI delegation also went to Saudi embassy in Islamabad and condoled to Ambassador Jassim M Al-Khalidi.

Rector IIUI said that purpose of today’s reference is to convey the grief and pain of IIUI to the Saudi nation through President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh. He also hoped that in the rule of King Salman bin Abdulaziz al Saud, relations between Pakistani and Saudi universities would further strengthen.

President IIUI, in his address on the occasion said that Muslim Ummah has lost devoted and well- wishing leader and his demise is an irreparable loss for Saudi people and Muslim Ummah. He told that King Abdullah always advised to his ministers and advisors to keep Pakistani nation near to their heart and added that King Abdullah always provided cooperation to Pakistan in hard times.

Dr. Al-Draiweesh maintained that everyone is equal in front of God and simple funeral of King Abdullah impressed many people while 500 non-Muslims embraced Islam after observing this simplicity which is core attribute of Islam. He also prayed for King Salman Abdullah that May Allah give him strength to serve Muslim Ummah as his ancestors did. He also hoped that King Salman would play vital role in bringing back the splendor of Muslim Ummah.

At the end, Dr. Al-Draiweesh prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and also prayed for the prosperity and peace of Ummah.

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION HOLDS SESSION ON REVISION OF COURSE OUTLINES OF PROGRAMS

Department of Education of International Islamic University Islamabad, amid its work on revising and updating the scheme of studies of different programs, has revised the outlines of MS, M.Ed, M.A and BS programs of already approved scheme of studies.

The revision has been made by a committee of faculty members keeping in view the vision of IIUI, National needs, International trends and demands of 21st century.

A session of presentations by committee members under the Chairmanship of Prof. Dr. N. B. Jumani Dean Faculty of Social Sciences and Dr. Samina Malik Chairperson Department of Education was held here at IIUI.

Expressing his views on the occasion, Dr. N. B. Jumani expressed gratitude to the faculty members for their extensive efforts and to the experts also for their valuable input adding that it will help in improving the quality of instructional process at the Department.

Earlier, Dr. Samina Malik, in her opening remarks appreciated the zeal of faculty members regarding their working.

Experts from other universities including Prof Dr. M. Aslam Asghar from Mohiuddin Islamic University Islamabad, Professor Hashim Abbasi from Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi, Dr. Aliya Zafar Head Department of Humanities from COMSATS Institute of Information Technology Islamabad and Dr. Muhammad Tanveer Afzal from Department of Secondary Teacher Education were also invited.

The experts appreciated the working of all committees and gave suggestions for further improvement. They emphasized that latest books in the outlines should be included and those books should be available in the library for students.
