DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION ORGANIZES SEMINAR ON WRITING LITERATURE REVIEW
The Department of Education organized a seminar on “Writing Literature Review” as part of its series of seminar on different themes and diverse topics in the discipline of Education.

This 7th seminar of series of Seminars” was held at Central Library. Dr N B Jumani, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences was the resource person of the seminar.

He shed light on the concept, purpose and importance of writing literature review for any research. He also provided important guide lines and useful tips for developing and presenting a strong literature review. Dr N B Jumani amplified the need to ask several questions like what exists in the literature, and where is the gap in literature to guide the study.

He also explicated the scholars about expectations from literature review at post graduate level, told about common errors in literature review and sensitized them to synthesize and evaluate review according to the guiding concept of research topics.

The faculty members and scholars articulated approbation to the resource person for enlightening them with the innovative ideas and to the Chairperson Department of Education for arranging such insightful activities for the scholars.

US CONSIDERS PAKISTAN AS IMPORTANT COUNTRY, SAYS OBAMA’S SPECIAL ENVOY
The United States is committed to promote peace, harmony and US government wants rights of all people protected without discrimination of religions said President Obama’s Special Envoy to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Rashad Hussain on Tuesday.

“A large number of Muslims, specially Pakistani Muslims living in US and the government considers Pakistan as an important country” said Mr. Hussain addressing students at International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) in a seminar on “ America and Muslim World” organized by Iqbal Institute for Research and Dialogue (IIIRD) of university.

Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed Executive Director IIIRD chaired the seminar while Dr. Sayyid Syeed Director Islamic Society of North America’s (ISNA) office of interfaith and community alliances and Arslan Suleman Deputy U.S Envoy to OIC, were among the key speakers. The US envoy said that US seeks deepen and expand partnership with OIC countries and Muslim communities around the world.

He said world has learnt that war is not resort of any issue but promotion of peace and harmony can solve the prevailing issues such as intolerance and deteriorated ties among nations. “Some elements who want their views to be followed forcibly do act against humanity and Muslims can discourage such thinking by educating their youth and identifying their shortcomings while putting aside the personal differences” he said. “6 billion Muslims are going away from Islam while blaming others for their failures which is unfortunate, they should examine their selves and deliver something productive instead of blaming others” he said while answering to a question regarding involvement of external forces in prevailing state of Muslim unity and development.

Addressing Seminar Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed lauded US efforts for harmony and peace and shed light on relationship among Muslims and United States. He admired the efforts of both governments for peace and strong ties among Muslims and US. He also referred to Presidents Obama’s Cairo speech and said that promise made by the US President regarding rights of the Palestinian Muslims in his famous speech, awaited to be fulfilled.

“Due to the efforts of American Muslims now a large number of universities in US have launched chairs and centres for Islamic studies” said Dr. Sayeed while speaking on role of Muslims in America. American Muslims are known for their contribution for harmony and peace said Director ISNA while quoting George W Bush that “ American Muslims had nothing to do with the 9/11 issue”.

Guest speakers were found opened hearted regarding interaction with the audience as they answered to many questions in friendly and brief manners. University crests were also presented by Dr. Mumtaz to the US guests at the end of the ceremony.

DCW HOLDS CERTIFICATE DISTRIBUTION CEREMONY
Dawah Centre for Women International Islamic University organized concluding ceremony of five day workshop on” Muslim Family Law, Provision and Practical Implementation “in which participants were awarded certificates by the President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh. The workshop was joined by the female lawyers from Rawalpindi and Islamabad Bar Councils and students of Law from different Law colleges and universities. The workshop covered the topics including family system in Islam, marriage system, divorce, household responsibilities, rights and duties etc.

The ceremony was also graced by the former director general Shariah Academy Dr. Yousif Farooqi as guest of honor, while former director female campus Dr. Zaitoon Begum, director female campus Dr. Farkhanda Zia, student advisor Ms Tasneem Fatima also attended the ceremony. In his address Dr. Al-Draiweesh appreciated the efforts of Dawah Academy in organizing such fruitful workshop and said Dawah Academy has valuable contribution to disseminate the true message of Islam. He vowed to organize international conference on the same topics to explore the aspects related to family law. President also emphasized women to be aware well about their rights. Dr. Al-Draiweesh admired tireless efforts and contribution of Shugfta Umar In-charge Dawah Centre for women.

IDB TEAM SHOWS CONFIDENCE OVER NEW PROJECT OF IIUI
Two member team of Islamic Development Bank showed confidence and satisfaction on the ongoing project of Advanced Electronics Laboratories in International Islamic University Islamabad. This is first ever project in Pakistan in the field of nanotechnology duly funded by the IDB under a competitive international grant. The team consisted of Dr. Khalid Habeeb and Dr. Turkan Ali Abdul Manap conducted the portfolio visit to university and AE Labs.

Earlier in the introductory session, President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh interacted with the team members, paid high gratitude to IDB, followed by detailed presentations about the university and IDB project by Director General AF&P Gulzar Khwaja, and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed, Principal Investigator respectively. On the occasion including dean faculty of Engineering and Technology Dr. Aqdas Naveed Malik and directors of different departments were also present. Dr. Turkan Ali assured university management to cooperate in scientific projects up-to maximum level. He said IIUI research projects would be preferred and sponsored in future as well.

Later on a high profile 7 member delegation from IDB, Jeddah and Pakistan lead by Mr. Ahmed Hariri joined a formal dinner hosted by President, IIUI. On the occasion, the matters regarding the further development of the university and enhancement of the infrastructure, and capacity building were discussed in detail. Mr. Hariri assured maximum cooperation and support to the university. All senior officials from the university were also present on this occasion.

ANTHROPOLOGY DEPARTMENT ORGANIZES DISCUSSION SESSION ON WOMEN & MINORITIES ISSUES IN PAKISTAN
Department of Anthropology recently organized an open discussion session on “Women and Minorities issues in Pakistan” where German Anthropologist, Stefanie Seyferth with her colleague Mr. Friedrich Stark shared her stance and research experience on the issue.
Discussion remained very fruitful as it allowed the faculty members and students to share their views and to develop a more holistic understanding about the issues at hand.
Stefanie is on her visit to Pakistan to explore the women and minorities situation in Pakistan and she visited various cities.
To get benefit from her experience and expertise, panel discussion was organized from the platform of Anthropology. A good number of faculty members and students participated in this panel discussion. Female students from different regions such as Balochistan, Gilgit Baltistan, KP, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab shared their experiences in this discussion. Faculty members also shared their intellectual thoughts in the panel discussion regarding women, Pardah and Pakistani culture.
The session was moderated by Dr. Noreen Saher, Incharge of programmes of Anthropology. On this occasion, Dr. Seema Gul (Acting Chairperson Department of Psychology), Dr. Rabia Gul (Acting Chairperson Department of Psychology), Ms. Tasneem Fatima (Acting Chairperson FMS and Students’ Advisor), Ms. Shazia Safdar Ali and Ms. Tasmia Matloob (Visiting Faculty of Anthropology) took active part in the discussion.
In the end of the session, Ms Tasneem Fatima (Student Advisor-FC) appreciated the efforts of the organizer for organizing such a healthy discussion session. The moderator and HOD of Anthropology Dr. Noreen Saher paid vote of thanks to the guests, faculty members and students. Director Women Campus presented shields to the guest. The guest also visited the office of DG-AFP, Mr. Gulzar Khawaja Sahib, who presented them ceremonial gifts.

IIUI FEMALE SPORTS STARS AWARDED IN PRIZE DISTRIBUTION CEREMONY
Islamabad: Female students of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) who shined in Annual Sports Gala were awarded with the prizes along with a significant announcement of half a million rupees dedicated to sports activities.

The announcement was made by the chief guest of the ceremony wife of the Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Al Johra Abdullah Al Arifi. The ceremony was also attended by the Ambassador of Lebanon to Pakistan Mona Adnan El Tanir as chief guest. Director Female campus Dr. Farkhanda Zia, Students’ Advisor female Tasneem Fatima, Additional Students Advisor Darakhsan Azam, Assistant Sports Officer Nadia Mukhtar and students who took positions in various sports activities during sports Gala.

Faculty of Management Sciences (FMS) while out shining all other 8 faculties won the annual sports Gala of this year while a student of FMS Noor ul Ain also clinched the title of best athlete of year 2014.

Female students were awarded for winning positions in various sports activities including table tennis, lawn tennis, cricket, volley ball, tug of war and many other activities.

“Islam stresses upon maintaining mental and body health and sports activities are best source to maintain the health and balance in personality” said Al Johra Abdullah while announcing 5 lac rupees for sports activities of the female students. She assured all possible support to the students of IIUI. She also emphasized on involving children in sports activities while terming it necessary for establishing a healthy society.

Mona Al-Tanir, in her speech lauded the progress of university while saying “IIUI which started with 9 students now serving more than 40 countries and almost 25 thousand students getting quality education in its campuses which is appreciable. She advised the students to focus on study and work for the unity of Ummah.

Dr. Farkhanda zia said healthy body possesses health mind and for this sports activities must be given due importance. She also emphasized that student should actively participate in co-curricular activities while appreciating the arrangements made by the administration to make sports gala a success.
Not only students but faculty members took active part in sports gala. “I am happy to win sports competitions and I urge women to take part in sports as sports help us to decrease the stress and let our mind work in smooth manner” said Dr. Noreen Sehar, who is head of anthropology department and won the events of race and badminton.

Nadia Mukhtar, who remained busy arranging various sports activities during sports gala and prepared teams of students and faculty members said “we are happy that it ended in efficient manner, we worked hard with support of administration while active participation of the students made our event a real success.

Shields were presented by the Chief Guest and guest of honor to the students and faculty members who participated in the sports gala while university crests were also presented at the end to the guests.

Later, President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh also visited female campus and vowed to support in academic and infrastructure manners during his meeting with the Director Female Campus, Students Advisor (female) and other officials.

He lauded the efforts of female campus administration for brilliant arrangements during IIUI 26th cultural week and Sports Gala.

CULTURAL WEEK CHAIRMEN, COMMITTEE MEMBERS HONORED
A prize distribution ceremony followed by luncheon in honor of the chairmen and members of steering committee for 26th International Islamic University (IIUI) cultural week was held at Faisal Mosque campus of the university.

The ceremony was attended by Rector IIUI Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, Vice President (Academics) Dr. Mohammad Bashir Khan, and Director General (AF&P) Gulzar Ahmed Khwaja, Executive Director Iqbal Institute for Research and Dialogue Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed, Students’ Advisor Dr. Tahir Khalily, various deans, directors and staff members of the students’ advisor office.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Masoom said IIUI next cultural week should be more innovative and same zeal and passion is required which was witnessed in the recent one. He lauded the efforts of officials who worked for various arrangements during cultural week.

Dr. Al-Draiweesh said 26th cultural week was an example of hard work which made it successful and memorable. He said all the committees deserve admiration for their work. He emphasized that such activities should continue all the year which would help to complete work in efficient manner when next cultural week would be celebrated.

Earlier, Dr. Tahir Khalily thanked all the chairmen and members of steering committees for support and cooperation during cultural week.

At the end, Rector and President IIUI distributed shields among the committee chairman and members of the steering committees.

IIUI PAYS TRIBUTE TO IQBAL
International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) paid tribute to august poet Allama Iqbal in a seminar organized by department of Urdu on the occasion of his 76th death anniversary.

Additional Director Public Relations and Protocol Hairan Khattak was the chief guest of the seminar while it was also attended by Head Urdu Department Dr. Tayab Munir, Faculty Members and students of the department.

“So called intellectuals who are against Islamic Ideology of Pakistan disseminating ambiguities regarding thoughts of Iqbal” said Hairan Khattak. He added that they also make self tailored interpretations of the sayings of Iqbal and Qaid e Azam, “actually these elements are against ideology of Pakistan and working against it” he elaborated.

He maintained that Iqbal’s message is clear while saying that Iqbal stressed upon Muslims to strengthen relationship with Quran. Hairan Khattak said that according to Iqbal Muslims were respected until they remained connected with Quran when relationship grew weak they faced a decline in respect and progress. “Iqbal was a stanch preacher of Islam, he worked on various Islamic aspects and also invited different classes of society towards religion” Hairan Khattak said.

Dr. Tayab Munir said in more than 13 thousand poetic writings of Iqbal most part is addressed to young minds of Ummah. He announced that soon a comprehensive program on Maulana Hali will be organized where literary relationship between Hali and Iqbal would be discussed.

“We need to apply thoughts of Iqbal in our practical lives”, said Dr. Aziz Ibne Hassan, a faculty member at university.

Kalam e Iqbal by a university employee Altaf Ahmed was much appreciated in the seminar.

IIUI SEEKS POLIO FREE PAKISTAN
As Pakistan has yet not been declared a Polio free country, is still under the threat of Polio virus. In view to remove the rumors, misconceptions and overcome the lack of knowledge about the Polio vaccination from the mind of Tribal people, Iqbal International Institute of Research and Dialogue, International Islamic University Islamabad has set 5 days training program for the Tribal Leaders, Teachers, Ulema from all the 7 Agencies of Federally Administrative Tribal Area of Pakistan. 25 members from different clans joined the training program.

The worth mentioning here IRD has also published leaf-let containing twenty Fatwas from all the top recognized Jamias of Pakistan and Muftian of different sects to make the way clear that polio vaccination is Halal and it is obligation of every Muslim to contribute in the campaign of Polio eradication. Islamic University with the collaboration of WHO has already organized International conference on Polio Eradication in the Light of Islam which was joined by the eminent scholars, medical experts, Ulema and Muftian from across the Pakistan and abroad as well, who agreed on the fact that Polio eradication is duly Halal and made Fatwa that killing of Polio worker is Haram.

On concluding session of the training Rector IIUI Prof Dr. Masoom Yasinzai hailed the efforts of IRD in regard to organize such worthiness training session and encouraged the contributions of tribal elites. He went saying that education can play the vital role in way to polio eradication, as the only mind molding of the ignorant is required to understand about polio vaccination. Dr. Masoom termed this session a valued mile stone to set the line to achieve Polio free Pakistan. Rector said with strong hope that IRD would keep on arranging such training courses.

Earlier, addressing the participants President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh encouraged them to stand against the rumors and misconceptions against Polio vaccination and contribute to excel the campaign of Polio vaccination. He urged participants to convince public of their areas and get favor for Polio vaccination. ”Some forces against Islam and miscreants have set an ambush to create chaos, distress and anarchic situation in Muslim countries “. He added. President invoked Ulema and leader of Tribes that core responsibilities in regard of Polio eradication are on their shoulders which must be tackled. Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed Executive Director IIIRD presented detail briefing about the whole training course, and vowed to take more steps in national cause.

BALUCHISTAN STUDENTS VISIT IIUI, MEET RECTOR
A delegation of high school female teachers and students of Baluchistan visited International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) here on Monday and called on Rector IIUI Dr. Masoom Yasinzai. Visit was part of “female teachers & students exposure visit program” organized by Baluchistan Rural Support Program (BRSP). Delegates were also accompanied with renowned religious scholar Dr.Ata ur Rehman.

Addressing the students Dr. Masoom Yasinzai said IIUI is working for interfaith harmony and trying to create a violence and terrorism free environment. He said Baluch students would be encouraged to get admissions at IIUI and he assured all possible support to Baluch students and teachers. Talking about role of Madaris, he made participants aware that IIUI had gathered renowned religious scholars and educationists in a conference where they recommended that Madaris must be provided opportunities to remain in main stream and IIUI with the help of its scholars would remain committed to work for this cause.

“We should refrain from the differences and work for harmony in the society” said Ata ur Rehman while emphasizing for including more and more aspects of Islamic studies in the curriculum.

Participants appreciated the atmosphere of high standards being provided at IIUI. “It’s a significant opportunity to broaden exposure as we visited many educational institutions of Capital, said Zahra Batool who is student of class 9th at Government Girls High School Malik Yahya Kasi in Baluchistan Province. “Students of Baluchistan should be provided opportunities to attend seminars, workshops and admissions in various degrees at priority basis” she added.

Students and teachers took keen interest in the academies specially Dawah Academy of the university and after briefing from the Rector IIUI, they visited it and gathered information for participation in its various programs.

They also visited female campus and lauded the educational method and facilities in the university.

RECTOR IIUI CALLS FOR FOLLOWING MODERN SCIENTIFIC TRENDS
Rector International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Dr. Masoom Yasinzai has said nations who realize importance of education and technology, emphasizing on innovations, and in result having top positions in the list of developed nations. He expressed these views being Chief Guest in the 11th biennial international conference of the Pakistan Chest Society (PCS) on Chest Diseases and Lung Health.

Leading pulmonologists, general practitioners and other specialists from all over Pakistan attended the conference while several foreign participants and speakers also joined three-day moot. Prof. Martyn Partridge, professor of respiratory medicine at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London, was the guest of honour and Prof. Dr. Naeem Agha, president of PCS, and Dr. Shereen Khan, chairperson of the scientific committee were among the prominent speakers.

“We should not rely on others and instead of asking help we should ask developed nations to provide us opportunities to learn from their experiences” said Dr. Masoom while saying that Pakistan has medical officials who are worldly known for their expertise and talent.

He said over last decade Pakistan has significantly contributed in scientific literature which is a good sign, “but we need to work more in the medical field with more innovations and zeal” Rector IIUI maintained.

He said such conferences are requirement of time but we can call such initiatives success if these end with positive scientific outcome. He added that conference provided a platform to learn from experiences of each other and identify the key objectives to handle with scientific problems and diseases.

“Science is progressing fast and we are lacking modern trends, we would have to utilize services of our medical officials and provide them opportunities to transform their studies in useful articles” Said Dr. Masoom.

Speaking in the conference Dr. Partridge said “Infectious diseases are acute and non-infectious diseases are prolonged, usually claiming lives in Pakistan”.

Speakers were of the view that respiratory illnesses in Pakistan were increasing, they called for concerted efforts to control the problem while appreciating the efforts of specialists who organize such conferences and promote indigenous science.

One of the main highlights of the conference are five hands-on workshops to update participants with latest techniques in a practical manner, as well as teach new techniques to be able to provide better services to patients.

FACULTY OF ARABIC HOLDS CERTIFICATE DISTRIBUTION CEREMONY
Faculty of Arabic, Center for Teaching of Arabic Language International Islamic University Islamabad organized a certificates distribution ceremony on the concluding, shorts Arabic Courses. In ceremony, all successful candidates were given certificates by the President IIUI Prof Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh.

The key and worth mentioning aspect of the ceremony was to award special certificate to the youngest university student of Pakistan Asia Arif, who at the age of 9 achieved second Diploma certificate form IIUI. Dr. Al-Draiweesh specially admired and encouraged Asia and wished her very best of luck in her successful and prosperous future, also and termed Asia a ray of hope. On the occasion Dean Faculty of Arabic Dr. Muhammad Bashir, Deans, Directors, faculty members including students were also present in the ceremony.

In his address Dr. Al-Draiweesh delivered comprehensive lecture on the importance and worth of Arabic language. He said Arabic is the language in which Allah communicated to human being in Quranic form through Prophet (PBUH). He said Arabic could be the best source of unity and harmony of Muslim Ummah. President said due to universality in the nature of Arabic language, it can synchronize the Muslim society.

Al-Draiweesh said, as the Arabic is the language of Islam, necessary for Muslim to learn to make easy understanding of religion. In his opening remarks Dr. Bashir concluded and thanked the President and management and participants of the course. He said it is the duty of Muslim to study and improve Arabic language to be able to understand the words and message of Allah and teachings of Prophet PBUH.

SCHOLARSHIP HOLDER STUDENTS MEET RECTOR, PRESIDENT
As many as 60 students of International Islamic University studying Islamabad were awarded scholarships by the Al-Shiekh Saad bin Abdullah Al Giniem. According to list of scholarship holders, students belonging to Nigeria, Indonesia, Somalia, China and Pakistan included respectively.

In the meeting with students Rector IIUI Dr. Masoom Yasinzai said university is committed to provide peaceful milieu of education and to provide facilities up-to the maximum level. He said this mile stone could only be achieved with the efforts of President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh. He urged students, must be the model of fine moral character, while following the teachings of Prophet PBUH. Dr. Masoom wished Dr. Al-Draiweesh would keep his efforts continue to grab maximum scholarships for the students.

In his address Dr. Al-Draiweesh said students must keep their moral high and work hard with dedication and devotion to achieve the high destination. He advised students to keep themselves away from the pessimist and extremist approaches, as Islam has no place of violence and aggression.

PRESIDENT EMPHASIZES QUALITY RESEARCH IN UNIVERSITIES
A group of heads of leading universities and degree awarding institutes along with Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed called on President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain at Aiwan e Sadar.

During the meeting, President emphasized the need for developing a strong relationship between higher education and economic development, urging quality assurance of the research being made in national universities and degree awarding institutes.

On the sidelines of meeting, Rector IIUI Dr. Masoom Yasinzai said IIUI offers peaceful academic milieu to its students where they are being provided contemporary education in the light teachings of Islam. He also said that university requires especial cooperation of government regarding its developmental projects.

Dr. Al-Draiweesh while sharing his views said IIUI is an international institution which is providing robust and excellent educational opportunities to young minds of Ummah. He added that IIUI graduates have highly ethical and moral attitudes and also holding proper guidance to deal with the issues in the light of Islamic teachings. He said university needs special attention and support of government as it works for serving number of Muslim countries.

President Mamnoon appreciated the efforts of university while saying government would keep working for improvement of education and all educational institutions would remain top priority of government.

RECTOR, PRESIDENT VISIT HEC TO CONGRATULATE DR. MUKHTAR
The seven member delegation of International Islamic University Islamabad visited Higher Educational Commission Islamabad to congratulate Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed on his appointment as Chairman HEC led by the Rector IIUI Prof Dr. Masoom Yasinzai accompanied by President Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, DG AF&P Ghulzar Ahmed Khawja and other members.

In the meeting the Rector and President admired the services of Dr. Mukhtar for HEC as Executive Director, and said, appointment as chairman is recognition by the Government of Pakistan. ”The standard of higher education in Pakistan will surely get progress and achieve new mile stones under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed“. Rector, President IIUI said.

Dr. Mukhtar also thanked the delegation and said, all efforts and endeavors for betterment of education will bring fruits only with the cooperation and sincere support of wise educationists.

 

DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH BRINGS HONOUR TO IIUI
A group of 13 scholars from Department of English, Female Campus, International Islamic University, earned a great honor for institution by presenting papers in the First International Conference of Literature and Language on Modern and Contemporary Language, Literature and Culture (FICLL) organized by Government College University, Lahore recently.

The conference brought forth various themes for research in all these fields. The group had three Doctors, three PhD students, and seven MS students. Everyone among these presenters had a unique point of view for discussion.

Dr. Munazza Yaqoob, Chairperson, Department of English, Female Campus shared her scholarly thoughts on “Interbeing”: A Culture of Peace in Pakistani Fiction in English”, Dr. Ansa Hameed and Dr. Ghazala Kausar presented their research on “Linguistic Representation of Gender Roles: A Transitivity Analysis of Foreign and Locally Produced English Textbooks in Pakistan.”

PhD students from IIUI presented diverse topics on Literature and Linguistics. Ms. Sonia I. Farooq being a faculty member and a PhD scholar presented a research paper on “Reified Minds of Commodified Society in Uzma Aslam Khan’s Trespassing and The Geometry of God”.

Mahwish Zahoor’s presentation was on “Hegemony of English and Ethnic Resistance: A Study of Pakistani University Students’ Attitudes towards Learning English Language.” Nighat Khursheed elucidated on “The Socio-cultural Context as Semantic Implication to Interpret Literary Texts.”

A good number of MS Students came up with varied research areas of their interest, some of them presented individually and some worked as co-authors. Abida Younas presented her knowledgeable viewpoint on “Constructed Performative identities: The Portrayal of Female in Contemporary Pakistani English Fiction”, Aimen Aslam Khattak came up with “Metafiction and Historiography in the Age of Post Modernism” as her research domain and enlightened the audience about the contemporary fashion in the area. Saima Yasin and Mahwish Aslam as co-authors addressed the conference participants with the prevailing viewpoint on “Digital Diaspora: A Study of Diaspora’s Cyber –Expansion’, a very nascent approach in Literature called Lived Space was introduced to the audience of the conference by the authors Sayyeda Farihatulaen Rizvi, Jabeen Akhtar and Komal Malik. The paper was entitled “Lived Space: A Contemporary Literary Trend towards Viewing Karachi as a Megacity.”

It is important to mention that all MS and PhD students are the members of Critical Thinking Forum and have been trained to engage in scholarly debates for the last three years. All the presenters exhibited their knowledge, critical insight and research skills in the relevant field. Their participation earned a great honour for the International Islamic University, Islamabad.

FACULTY OF ARABIC STARTS 16TH SESSION OF SHORT ARABIC COURSES
Center for Arabic Language Teaching (ALT) to Non-Arabs at Faculty of Arabic of International Islamic University has started 16th session of short Arabic Courses for general public, IIU staff and students.

A 3-month long 16th session of these courses was joined by 65 male and 48 female students whereas the Sunday Learning Arabic Program started on April 6 in which 45 male and 28 female students were registered. People from different fields of life intended to Learn Arabic Language the Language of Al-Quran Al-Kareem and As-Sunnah Al-Nabawiya and Language of Arab World.

An orientation session was held at Faculty of Arabic in both male and the female campus. Dr. Zaheer the Program coordinator introduced the courses and main features whereas Dr. Habib ur Rehman Asim highlighted the Importance of Arabic Language in a Muslim’s Life.

The Dean Faculty of Arabic Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Bashir has emphasized the Linguistics features of Arabic Language in comparative with the other Languages. The participants are in a view that these courses are really helpful for understanding Quran and other Islamic Sources and IIU is offering such a credible and authentic Teaching of Arabic Language that leads to correct understanding of Al-Quran Al-Kareem.

DEPT OF EDUCATION CONTINUES SERIES OF SEMINARS ON EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH
The Department of education of IIUI arranged sixth seminar on Research Design for male and female MS & PhD scholars as part of its series of seminars on important themes and diverse topics in the discipline of Education.

Dr Asad Abbas Rizvi, Assistant Professor, Department of Education, IIUI was the resource person of the seminar. He shed light on the research designs which refer to the researcher’s overall plan for answering the research question or testing the research hypotheses. He also enlightened the scholars about purposes, characteristics, process of designing and conducting a research by focusing on important aspects.

He accentuated the need of adapting the right design for the research and maintaining optimal balance between research design, time, resources and researcher expertise.

At the end, Dr. N. B Jumani, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences in his address appreciated the endeavours of Dr Samina Malik, Dy. Dean Faculty of Social Sciences & Chairperson Department of Education and other members of the team in organizing such insightful activities for the scholars.

He further articulated that it is unique feature of Department of Education that all important and diverse issues are addressed through seminars on regular basis. The Dean, FSS expressed gratitude to the resource person for maneuvering the scholars about important aspects of Research Design.

BIOGAS TECHNOLOGY SOLUTION TO ENERGY CRISIS, SAY IIUI SEMINAR PARTICIPANTS
Young scientific researchers equipped with proper knowledge of their relevant fields can add significance pace in the socio economic uplift of country while they can also help in solution of energy crisis said Rector International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Dr. Masoom Yasinzai in a seminar organized by Applied Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering Lab (ABGE) of Department of Biotechnology of the university.

Seminar titled “Bio Gas Production” was also joined by renowned scientist Dr. Irini Angelidaki of Technical University of Denmark. Dr. Nyla Jabeen, Incharge ABGE, Dr.Jabbar Zaman Khattak, head Bioinformatics and Biotechnology, faculty members of male and female departments and a large number of students also attended the seminar.

“Society looks towards you, respond to the needs of society by devotedly working on researchable problems” said Dr. Masoom while urging the young scientists of Pakistan for hardwork in the field of research. He added, researchers should tighten belts and work with passion for improvement in the energy sector as country is neither short of natural resources nor talented minds. “This is age of competition between nations, societies which are striving for excellence, are gaining the momentum of progress, we should learn from the experiences of developed countries” said Rector IIU.

Dr. Irini gave a brief presentation regarding Technical University of Denmark and especially about dept. of environmental engineering of university. “Pakistan, by utilizing the biogas production technology can solve the issue of energy crisis as country has enough natural resources and talent to deal with issue” she said. She emphasized that inter-governmental agreements in the field of bio gas production can help developing countries to handle the shortage of energy. She also touched topics such as methods of renewable energy and enrichment & isolation of biogas.

Dr. Jabbar Zaman Khattak, in his vote of thanks said devotion and commitment lead nations towards the way of progress, country has enough potential to cope with prevailing challenges but young minds must be utilized prudently in this regard.

It was vowed on the occasion that soon an MoU of cooperation between Applied Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering Lab and Technical University of Denmark would be signed. A shield was also presented by Rector IIUI to Dr. Irini at the end of the seminar.

IIUI HOLDS BASR MEETING
The 5th Meeting of the Board of Advanced Studies & Research (BASR) 2014 of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh.

During the meeting, research proposals of the students of Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences and Arabic were discussed and decisions taken accordingly. The meeting was attended by all the members of the Board and issued valuable instructions for further research work to the students.

Dr. Al-Draiweesh in his short speech said that, while selecting topics for research, scholars should keep in view the context of topic and its validity. He said research should be conducted on contemporary topics. President IIUI thanked the board members and appreciated their role to guide students regarding their research work.

DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES HOLDS PLANTATION COMPETITION
Department of Environmental Sciences female campus International Islamic University Islamabad organized inter-departmental plantation competition in which 7 different students group participated. Every group decorated their given area with kinds of flowers, plants and shrubs. The students also briefed the judges about the selection of plants, their nature and characteristics. Vice President IIUI Dr. Muhammad Bashir Khan, Director Female Campus Dr. Farkhanda Zia, Student Advisor Ms Tasneem Fatima were the judges of competition.

While chairperson department of Environmental Sciences (Female) Dr. Maliha Asma, Dr. Bushra Hafeez Kiani, Ms Rukhsana Tariq, other faculty members, staff and students were also present there. Addressing the prize distribution ceremony Dr. Bashir Khan appreciated the efforts of students and department on providing such practical platform to exhibit their talent and abilities. He said if we don’t plant the new plants as our social and religious duties, the whole civilization will be in endangered, as it’s also advised by the Prophet PBUH. Talking about the atmosphere and environment of Pakistan, he said Allah has given us friendly, favorable environment to plant more and more.

Dr. Bashir also emphasized faculty members to nurture students on ideological and intellectual level to make them strong in their discourse and discipline. Dr. Fakhnda Zia in her note admired the efforts and contribution of students and said, university is committed to provide good and peaceful educational milieu to bringing up and develop the talent and abilities of the students in all respect. ANNUAL 5TH BOOK FAIR AT DAWAH ACADEMY
Amid Seerah celebration of Dawah Academy, International Islamic University Islamabad, fifth annual book fair was organized by the academy which was attended by 50 Publishers across the country. Publishers hailing from Karachi, Lahore, Jhelum, Peshawar, Rawalpindi and many others countries set up stalls in the book fair which were visited by a large number of students and citizens of twin cities.

Concluding ceremony of the book fair was held at Faisal Mosque Campus of the university. It was joined by Deputy Director General Dawah Academy Dr. Imtiaz Zafar, Senior Librarian of academy Dr. Sajid Mirza, other staff members of academy, university officials and representatives of various publishing companies.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Imtiaz Zafar congratulated organizers on successfully arranging book fair. He said books are pre-requisite for development of any society and Dawah Academy keenly focusing to strengthen relationship between book and an individual.

At the end, he also distributed shields among the representative of different publishers who set up stalls during the book fair.

DAWAH ACADEMY HOLDS MAHAFIL QARAAT, NA’AT AND SPEECH COMPETITIONS
In connection with Seerah PBUH celebrations, Dawah Academy International Islamic University with the collaboration of IIUI schools project jointly organized speech, Qaraat competitions among the students of IIUI schools. The competitions presided over by President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh and vice President Dr. Bashir Ahmed Khan respectively.

In Qaraat competition 17 students from different branches took part, which was divided in two categories, primary and middle level respectively. In first category, Ahmed Hassan IIU School Gulraiz campus clinched 1st, while Aqib Malik from Harly campus 2nd and Abdullah Aadil from Peshawar campus and Abdullah from Westrej campus jointly got 3rd positions. In second category Mugheez Abbassi from Mansehra campus 1st, Muhammad Anas from Mardan campus 2nd and Muhammad Naseer from Khyber campus clinched 3rd positions respectively. Hafiz Abdul Hanan, Hafiz Hameed and Qari Zia ur Rehman were the judges of the competition.

A speech competition had also same categories, in which15 students participated. In first category Ahmed Abdullah from Attock campus declared 1st, Abdullah from G10 campus 2nd, Abdullah Jafar form Harly campus 3rd and Mateen Abubakar from A/3 campus 4th respectively. In second category of speech competition Mishaal from G8 campus received 1st, Asad Malik 2nd Mial Ibrahim from G6 campus 3rd and Mansoor Ali Khan from G7 4th position.

In addition to these competitions Dawah Academy also held International Mehfil-e-Qaraat and Mehfil Hamd-o- Na’at separately for general public in Alama Iqbal Auditorium. Chairman Council of Islamic Ideology Moulana Khan Muhammad Sherani, DG (AF&P) IIUI Ghulzar Ahmed Khawja graced the ceremony of Mahfil-e-Qaraat, while Deputy Director General Dawah Academy Dr. Imtiaz Zafar, deans and directors were also present. In the Mahfil-e-Na’at Vice Chancellor Allama Iqbal Open University Dr. Asghar Ali Chishti graced the ceremony as chief guest.

AIMA TRAINING COURSE CONCLUDES AT DAWAH ACADEMY
President Internaional Islamic University Islamabad Prof Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh has said Masjid must be the central character in Muslim societies to create harmony, synchronization among Muslims. He was speaking on the occasion of concluding session of 82nd Aima Training Course organized by Dawah Academy IIUI.

He said sectarianism must be discouraged at all levels by the Aimas and Khutaba to create an atmosphere of unity and brotherhood.” Anti Muslim lobbies want to create chaos, anarchy and disorder to scatter Muslims and Muslims societies “.He added. President urged, Aima being the vital figure of society should present themselves as role model while following the Uswa-e-Hasana PBUH. Dr. Al-Draiweesh stressed Aima to avoid exaggeration and extremist approaches, while encouraging the attitude of patience, moderation and tolerance among the societies.

In his address Deputy Director General Dr. Imtiaz Zafar, while describing the objectives and aims of Dawah Academy said Aima must care needs and demands of contemporary time, so they may able to cope the challenges. He said time also demands us to recognize our responsibilities to tackle the problems and challenges. Dr. Imtiaz also thanked to president on providing facilities for the training course. Earlier course coordinator Zaheer u Din Behram briefed the participants about training course.

VP AIU ASHEIKH FAZAL UR RAHIM VISITS IIUI
Vice President Ashrafia Islamic University, Lahore Hafiz Asheikh Fazal ur Rahim Asharfi visited International Islamic University Islamabad and called on President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh. On the occasion of meeting both personalities discussed issues of mutual interest and cooperation.

Speaking on the occasion, President IIUI mentioned and admired the role and contribution of Ashrafia University while saying mutual cooperation in regards to strengthen educational ties and faculty exchange between both universities would be initiated soon. He said to make this way easy an MoU would be signed soon, through this IIUI would offer opportunities to faculty of Ashrafia University for learning experiences and exposure of IIUI Arabic and Usul ud Din faculty. Exchange of crests also took place at the end of the meeting.

 

 

FLOWER EXHIBITION AT IIUI, PRESIDENT LAUDS GARDENERS’ EFFORTS
Amid zealous preparations for cultural week world exhibition at IIUI, a flower exhibition was arranged by university officials which was visited and lauded by President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh. Vice President Academics Dr. Muhammad Mohammad Bashir Khan, Director General AF&P Gulzar Ahmed Khwaja, Students Advisor (Male) Dr. Tahir Khalily and Additional Director I.T. Imran Saeed, Director Administration Khalid Mahmood Raja and other IIUI officials were also present on the occasion.

Dr. Al-Draiweesh appreciated the efforts of gardeners and said that “decoration of flowers is an omen of love which gardeners of university have with their institution”. At the end, President IIUI also had a photo session with the gardeners.

 

IIUI, SAFE SIGN MOU
International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) has signed an MoU with Student Advancement Fund Endowment (SAFE) with an aim to provide scholarship to needy students and increase public awareness about the importance of financing and supporting equal access to quality higher education.

The MoU was signed during President IIUI Dr. Al-Draiweesh’s recent visit to Lahore. In the ceremony, which was held in Lahore College of Punjab University, SAFE and IIUI officials along with heads of various universities participated.

Speaking on the occasion, President IIUI termed the MoU a positive step for promotion of quality education while saying that MoU would help needy students to solve their financial issues and it would also provide them opportunities to excel in their respective fields.

 

IIUI, LAHORE LEADS UNIVERSITY SIGN MOU OF MUTUAL COOPERATION
International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) and Lahore Leads University have signed MoU of mutual cooperation in the field education. It was signed during the President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh’s recent visit to Lahore.

In the signing ceremony, Dr. Al-Draiweesh briefed the Leads officials regarding IIU’s role in the fields of research while he also apprised them about the role of academies and institutes of IIUI for harmony peace and tolerance.

He said IIUI is committed to collaborate with Pakistani educational institutions as university has prime focus regarding improvement in educational standards of the country.

It was vowed on the occasion that both universities would promote activities which would help to learn from experiences of each other.

At the end, gifts and shields were exchanged between the officials of both institutions.

PRESIDENT IIUI VISITS LAHORE FLYING CLUB
Lahore Flying Club has awarded honorary membership to President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh. It was announced at the occasion of President IIUI’s visit to the club. He was accompanied by President of the Islamic University Lahore Prof. Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Madani and some of the deans of the university.

Dr. Al-Draiweesh was briefed regarding steps of training and the types of aircraft used by the trainees in training. The administration of the club lauded the Pak-Saudi relations and extended thanks for the visit.

IIUI, UOL SIGN MOU FOR COOPERATION
International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) and University of Lahore signed MoU of mutual cooperation under which both institutions would work for bilateral cooperation in the field of media sciences and faculty and students exchange programs.

MoU was signed during President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh’s visit to UoL where he signed the MoU on the behalf of IIUI while Rector UoL Prof. Dr. Saleem Shuja represented the University of Lahore.

It was agreed media sciences departments of both universities would work on a joint project of documentary production and faculties of both sides would share experiences. It was also decided that exchanges of students, faculty members would be held in future from both sides while collaborations will be made in for conducting joint seminars and conferences.

President IIUI was briefed about UoL during his visit to the various departments while exchange of gifts and shields also took place at the end of the signing ceremony.

   
PRESIDENT IIUI CALLS ON VC PU
President International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh visited Punjab University, Lahore and called on Vice Chancellor PU Dr. Mujahid Kamran. Issues of mutual interest were discussed in the meeting of both heads.

It was agreed on the occasion that a lecture by Dr. Al-Draiweesh on the topic of “jurisprudence “would be conducted in PU.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh said that IIUI has an aim of strengthening ties with all Pakistani institutions and share experiences of each other for the improvement of educational system in the country. He lauded the role of Punjab University by saying that it was producing talented professionals who have been source of country’s recognition across the globe.

He also briefed VC PU regarding IIUI’s role in the society in various aspects and showed desire to benefit from the faculties of both universities via collaboration in various educational projects.

DR. AL-DRAIWEESH VISITS ASHRAFIA ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY
President International Islamic University Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh visited Ashrafia Islamic University, Lahore and called on Sheikh Fazal Rahim, Vice President Ashrafia University, number of faculty members and administrators. He was accompanied with Dr. Hafiz Abdul Rahman Madani, President of the Islamic University Lahore.

In a meeting on the occasion, both heads of the universities discussed issues of mutual interest while a detailed briefing of regarding the university was also given to Dr. Al-Draiweesh.

Speaking on the occasion, President IIUI lauded the role of Ashrafia University while stressing upon mutual cooperation regarding dissemination of harmony and moderation. He also seconded the suggestion of faulty exchange between both universities and said IIUI would provide opportunities to faculty of Ashrafia University for learning form experiences and exposure of IIUI Arabic faculty. He also invited Shaikh Fazal Rahem to visit IIUI and assured all possible cooperation in the field of education.

Exchange of crests also took place at the end of the meeting.

PRESIDENT IIUI OPENS HIS OFFICE AT LAHORE ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY
President International Islamic University Islamabad Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, during his visit to Lahore, visited Lahore Islamic University where he not only met with top officials of the university but also inaugurated his office as Deputy Pro-Chancellor of the University.

President of Lahore Islamic University Dr. Hafiz Abdul Rahman Madani and other officers of university were also present on the occasion. Dr. Al-Draiweesh called a meeting after opening his office and directed the concerns to bring new innovations in their respective departments.

Later, he also delivered a valuable lecture on “Jurisprudence” which was attended by a large number of students from Department of Islamic Studies. He threw light on the aspects such as role of jurists in the progress of society and their responsibilities.

He advised the students to adopt moderation and chose the path which has been given by Allah. He also stressed upon need of research and advancements while saying all the student of the subject of jurisprudence should stay update regarding the advancements taking place in the field of research. He urged them to refrain from violence while saying they can play vital role in elimination of extremism.

FMS HOLDS ALUMNI AND CORPORATE MEET
The FMS 3rd Alumni & Corporate meeting organized by Faculty of Management Sciences in which Alumni from year 1995 to 2008 shared their old, gold and sweet memories from the corners of past with faculty members.

Honourable guests from HEC, NBEAC Delegations, Alumni, Corporate professionals and faculty members graced the event.

The alumni conferred matters related to strengthening alumni contacts, alumni advisory council, career services for passing out graduates, industry academia linkages and discussed future plans for faculty.

The participating alumni are serving and contributing in mega organizations like EMAAR Group, PTCL, Standard Charted Bank, PTV, National Bank, Telenor, OGDCL, Interactive Technologies, Techaccess, National Youth Parliament of Pakistan, Meezan Bank and Mobilink Pakistan.

 

RIGHTS OF MUSATAFA PBUH DEMAND TOP PRIORITY
Federal Minister for Planning and Development Prof Ahsan Iqbal has said mutual differences and imitation of western thoughts have led Muslims towards lack of unity while following life of Prophet (PBUH) is ultimate solution of contemporary problems.

He was speaking in National conference titled” Rights of Mustafa and its Implications“ organized by Dawah Academy International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), in collaboration with Higher Education Commission. He said the only solution of contemporary problems of Muslim world lies in the obedience and perusing the foot prints of Sunnah.

He emphasized to decorate the minds with true teachings of Prophet PBUH to reform the social structure in better way. Minister pointed out some of the challenges and said Muslims divert their way from right path of Prophet PBUH due to this they fell in decaying and crumbling. Ahsan Iqbal said Islam is complete code of life; need of the hour is to revise our moral values, past and association with Prophet PBUH. He said those nation adopted Islamic moral and values, reached on the top. Ahsan Iqbal congratulated to the management on organizing successful conference. He said Government would take guidance from recommendations of the conference.

Speaking on the occasion, President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh said every Muslim should follow the life of Prophet (PBUH) as it is a pre-requisite in the regard of rights of Prophet (PBUH). He invoked that the topic of the conference demands an urgent framework of practical formulation and application of the recommendations. He also announced a committee in the leadership of Deputy Director General Dawah Academy Dr. Imtiaz Zafar which would work for bringing the recommendations of conference on active forums.

Earlier, Dr. Imtiaz Zafar presented the recommendations which said that inappropriate knowledge regarding rights of Prophet (PBUH) was the root cause of contemporary challenges while aforesaid rights must be given proper priority during the process of legislation in various matters. The recommendations also said a comprehensive and active policy must be devised to handle with lethal aims of negative forces which are working against the rights of Prophet (PBUH). Scholars also recommended that education experts should work for devising an educational system which must have proper representation of Seerat Un Nabi PBUH.

The conference was attended by more than 70 Islamic scholars and intellectuals who presented papers in various sessions.

RIGHTS OF MUSTAFA (PBUH) URGE REFORMATION OF MORAL SYSTEM, DR. ANEES
Rights of Musatafa PBUH demands to every individual and communal life that must submit their wishes according to the Sunnah, as every self supposed to act according to the teachings of Prophet PBUH. The secret of success, prosperity, development in life is linked with following the golden tenets of Uswa-e Hassnah PBUH. These views were expressed by Dr. Anees Ahmed Vice Chancellor Ripha International University Rawalpindi as chief guest in the national conference titled” Rights of Mustafa and its Implications “organized by Dawah Academy International Islamic University Islamabad with collaboration of Higher Education Commission.

President IIUI Prof Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh presided over the conference. In his address Dr. Anees said the basic purpose of Prophethood is to make Arabs and world at large familiar with the universal message and principles of Islam; not to create hegemony of Arabs’ customs and ethnicity over the world. ”The moral revolution which Prophet PBUH brought, still stressed Muslims to get themselves free from the blind slavery, heathenish traditions and prosaic customs of the west“. He added.

Dr. Anees also emphasized over to mold the political, economic, administrative, judicial and cultural morals in the light of Islam and Sunnah as the Rights of Mustafa urge. He invoked that in the context of Pakistan, there is only one way of success, prosperity and peaceful evolution is to follow the teachings of Prophet PBUH with exclusive obedience; make ourselves free from the imitation of west and Hindu culture. In his address Dr. Al-Draiweesh said, the core massage of faith and love with Prophet PBUH is a total submission of desires; and to be obedience is to follow teachings of Prophet with firm resolution. He urged Muslims must follow the guidelines and orders of Prophet PBUH as final authority. President called Seerah study demands that it should be free from all kind of exaggeration and embroideries of wrong citation and assertions. He also vowed to organize international conference on Seerah PBUH next year.

Earlier Deputy Director General Dawah Academy Dr. Imtiaz Zafar opened the conference with introductory note and said Dawah Academy would keep arranging such conferences as the core mission of academy is to spread the true message of Islam. It’s pertinent to mention here that in first day of the conference 38 papers were presented by the scholars on different dimentions of the topic in the whole 7 sessions. Today (Tuesday) there would be 37 papers presented, while in concluding ceremony of the conference Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal will be chief guest which will be held at 4 pm at Quaid-e-Azam auditorium Faisal Masjid campus.

A TWO DAYS CONFERENCE ON “RIGHTS OF MUSTAFA (PEACE BE ON HIM) AND ITS IMPLICATIONS,” WILL START TODAY
Under the auspies Da’wah Academy, International Islamic university, Islamabad a two days Conference on “Rights of Mustafa (Peace be on him) and Its Implications,” will be start today at 9:30 am in the Allama Iqbal Auditorium, Faisal Mosque Campus of International Islamic University, Islamabad.

Around 70 research papers, describing various dimensions of the Rights of Mustafa (peace be on him) will be presented in the conference by seasoned researches and scholars from various universities and academic institutions of Pakistan.

Dr Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, President IIUI, will be the Chief Guest at this occasion and Professor Dr Anis Ahmad, the founding Director General of Da’wah Academy, currently Vice Chancellor of Riphah International University, will be the Keynote speaker on this occasion

PMA CADETS GROUP VISITS IIUI
A 70 member group of allied cadets’ lead by the Lt Col Abdul Hameed from Pakistan Military Academy Kakool visited Faisal Masjid campus of International Islamic University Islamabad. In the introductory session President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh apprised them about the historical building of the mosque and informed them about the services of IIUI providing for the Mosque.

He further said youth is precious asset of Muslim Ummah; they are considered to shoulder the burden of problems and challenges of contemporary time. President urged cadets to get themselves equipped with high professional qualities to tackle the issues which Muslims Ummah facing. He termed youth a strong defense of Muslim world; they are supposed to utilize their capabilities to get the required skills.

On the occasion Director General Maktaba tu Al-Dawag Islamabad centre Dr. Muhammad bin Saad Al-Dousri while addressing the cadets said, apart from the training of professional expertise, youth must present fine and excellent moral character to the world. Earlier Director General AF&P IIUI Gulzar Ahmed Khawja presented detail briefing on IIUI. He also introduced them with the educational programs, plans and upcoming projects.

PRESIDENT IIUI INAUGURATES NEW GENERATOR FOR KUWAIT HOSTEL
President International Islamic University Islamabad Prof Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh inaugurated new 400 KVA generator installed for Kuwait hostel old campus of the university, while Director General Maktaba tu Adwah Islamabad centre Dr. Muhammad bin Saad Al-Dousri also accompanied him.

A generator having amount of ten million has been donated by the Saudi Government to IIUI with the efforts of Dr. Al-Draiweesh. On the occasion of inaugural ceremony, DG (AF&P) Gulzar Ahmed Khawja, Hostel Provost male Dr. Abid Massod, all Deans and Directors were also present. On the occasion, Dr. Al-Draiweesh lauded the role of Saudi government in cooperating with IIUI and paid special thanks to custodian of two holy mosques. President said, the priority of management is to facilitate students up to maximum level and university would make the way easy for student in all respects. While he visiting to Kuwait hostel President assured students that university would keep working to provide them peaceful environment for their studies and their problems would be solved on preference basis.

LIFE OF PROPHET (PBHU) IS THE ONLY SOURCE OF PEACE, SAIRA AFZAL
In Women Seerah (PBUH) conference, organized by Dawah Centre for Women DCW International Islamic University Federal State Minister National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination Saira Afzal Tarar has said Islam and contemporary time demand us to recognize our duties and responsibilities to cope the challenges, she was speaking as chief guest. On the occasion former director female campus IIUI Dr. Zaitoon Begum and director female campus Dr. Farakhnda Zia were guest of honor. Minister said life of Prophet PBHU is the only source and inspiration to make our lives peaceful and stable. ”The prosperity, success and sustained life linked with the obedience of Quran and Sunnah“. She added. “The core and key message of Prophet PBHU is, do good with fellow being to have good “, Saira emphasized the participants.

She said Islam teaches, women must present fine and exemplary character and must negate the malice approach from her selves. She was the view that “we in born Muslims are fortunate but need to sacrifices to achieve the high destination; need to mould our lives as individual to reform the whole society“.

She urged women follow the lives of the Sahabiyat RA in true sense; we are rich in knowledge but need to prove and change ourselves according to the teachings of Prophet PBHU. Saira said intolerant and extremist approaches must be condemned in all respects to attain the level of peace, stability and prosperity in the country. The conference was also addressed by Principal Model Deni Madrassah, Shugfta Rauf, Chairperson Faculty of Usulud Din Ms Sajda Jamil and former additional director examination IIUI Zubada Khatoon.

In-Charge DCW Shagufta Umar in her address introduced participants about the detail activities held by the centre. She also threw light on different training programs which covered social and moral aspects of socialization of women. Shagufta Umar made aware about the theme, purpose and objectives of the conference.

5TH ANNUAL BOOK FAIR OF DAWAH ACADEMY OPENS
The 5th annual Book Fair organized by Dawah Academy International Islamic University Islamabad inaugurated by the Executive Director Higher Education Commission Dr. Mukhatar Ahmed and President IIUI Prof Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh here at Faisal Masjid. On the occasion Executive Director Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed, Deputy Director General Dawah Academy Dr. Imtiaz Zafar, renowned scholars Agha Nasir and senior officials were also present.

In his address Dr. Mukhtar appreciated the step of Dawah Academy and said such book fairs increase the tendency of book reading. He further said book has very deep relation with man, but due to lack of consideration on these activities, this inclination fading out. Dr. Mukhtar assured HEC would keep cooperating to organize such healthy events. He also made participants aware the Government going to increase annual budget of higher education in coming budget which would give boom to educational activities as well. In his speech Dr. Al-Draiweesh threw light on the role of Dawah Academy in flourishing the message of Islam. He said academy working free from all sectarian approaches and partialities.

Dr. Al-Draiweesh said these book fairs are basic to open new avenues of knowledge as the book is best friend and companion of man. Speaking to participants Dr. Mumtaz urged universities to organize a book fair with joint efforts; he also termed book a source of silent revolution in social reforms. Dr. Mumtaz said people get influence from book fairs and attracted towards books. Agha Nasir also addressed and said association with books is getting weak and meek. He urged book lovers to come forward and take step in organizing such book fairs to alive this tradition. Dr. Imtiaz Zafar in his opening words gave detail account on Seerah celebrations and book fair. It’s pertinent here to mention the 44 stall are established in book fair which will last till 8th of April.

IIUI SEERAH CELEBRATIONS TO START TODAY
Seerah celebration organized by of Dawah Academy of International Islamic University Islamabad will start today (Thursday). On the inaugural day of celebrations a women Seerah conference, Mahfil Hussn-e-Qaraat, Mahfil Hussn-e Naat and book fair will be organized by the academy. According to detail, on 3rd April women Seerah conference will start at 10 am at Faisal Mosque of the university. Federal State Minister Health Services and Regulation Saira Afzal Tarar and wife of President IIUI Muznah Qasam Al-Draiweesh will be the chief guests, while it will be presided over by former director female campus IIUI Dr. Zaitoon Begum.

The conference will be addressed by Principal Model Deni Madrassah, Shugfta Rauf, Chairperson Faculty of Usulud Din Ms Sajda Jamil and former additional director examination IIUI Zubada Khatoon. In connection with Seerah celebration annual 5th book fair will be inaugurated by President IIUI Prof Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, while Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, Executive Director, HEC, will be the Chief Guest. Book lovers will be provided 50% concession on purchasing during the book fair which will last till April 8.

On the same day, Mehfil Hussn-e-Qaraat will be graced by Charimen Islamic Ideology Council Senator Molana Muhammad Khan Sherani and Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, Federal Minister of Religious Affairs, which will start after Asar prayer. On Friday April 4, competitions of speech and Quran recitation will be held at Faisal Mosque campus among different schools of Islamabad. Dawah Academy will also organize an important national conference with the collaboration of Higher Education Commission on Rights of Mustafa (PBUH) and its Implications will start on April 7, in which renowned scholars and intellectuals will present their papers.

4th MEETING OF BASR

IIUI MEDICAL CENTRE HOLDS CAMP
Amid colourful activities of international cultural exhibitions, the medical centre of International Islamic University organized a medical camp on the occasion of 26th annual cultural week of IIUI. The camp was also great source of spreading information regarding communicable and non-communicable diseases on public health issues.

The lecture was also arranged to highlight the health hazard of smoking, and students, guests and faculty members also made aware about on hepatitis B C and preventive measures as well by the Doctors while visiting camp.

The camp was also especially assisted by the few volunteers from Fatima Memorial Hospital to deliver their services.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Shabbir Ahmed Kallu along his dedicated team of medical centre vowed to keep arranging such medical camps for the services of the students.

 

IIUI SEERAH CELEBRATIONS TO HELP DISCOURAGING VIOLENCE, DR. AL-DRAIWEESH
Conference on Rights of Mustafa (PBUH) and its implications would be helpful to end violence and extremism in the society by providing an opportunity to aware the society about the importance of rights of Mustafa (PBUH) said President International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh while addressing a press conference here on Tuesday regarding Seerah celebrations organized by the university. Press Conference, which was organized to inform about the Seerah celebrations of Dawah Academy, was also attended by Deputy Director General Dawah Academy Dr. Imtiaz Zafar and many university officials.

“Da’wah Academy of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) would start Seerat un Nabi (PBUH) celebrations from April 3 which would end on April 8. In this regards, a two-day international conference on the topic “Rights of Mustafa (PBUH) and its implications” would be organized which would be attended by famous scholars and intellectuals” said President IIUI.

President IIUI stressed that papers in the conference would contain high research standards so that public get accurate and appropriate knowledge of. He added that such conferences can be helpful to end violence and extremism in the society. He was of the view that due to inadequate knowledge people are being harmed in various societies while Quran has advocated strongly for protection of human lives. President IIUI urged Aima and scholars to disseminate Islamic teachings and aware people about the salient attribute of moderation advocated by Quran.

Dr. Al-Draiweesh said purpose of the conference is to highlight the Rights of Mustafa (peace be on him) in the context of the teachings of the Quran and the Sunnah and analyse the concepts, debates and the academic heritage regarding the Rights of Mustafa (peace be on him). He said conference would allow proposing policies and procedures for the reform and stability of the society highlighting the Implications of the Rights of Mustafa (peace be on him) in various dimensions and spheres of life.

While talking about Fatwa institute, he said university would soon establish a Fatwa institute and would hire leading Islamic scholars across the Islamic world, institute, via research would help to address the complex issues of Ummah. He added that there would be no biasness in the aspect of sect and all the scholars would be provided training academies and institutes of IIUI.

On a question about the new projects, Dr. Al-Draiweesh said IIUI was mulling over establishing an advanced medical centre, university has written for budget to many quarters while Imam Muhammad Bin Saud University of Saudi Arabia would supervise IIUI in the project.

He also apprised the media persons about IIUI cultural week and said that it was a unique platform of spreading Islam’s message of peace and unity where a large number of countries gathered and vowed to work for harmony peace and tolerance. He also talked about the Seerah conference for women while saying it would start on April 3 and also invited media persons to join book fair of Dawah Academy which would be held on same day in connection with Seerah celebrations.
