IIUI; A PROGRAM ON INDEPENDENCE AND DEFENSE DAY; FUTURE OF PAKISTAN IS FUTURE OF UMMAH: DR. AL-DRAIWEESH

Pakistan is dynamic country, came into being with strong ideology, never lost its worth nor any conspiracy makes it unstable; Pakistani youth is the precious asset, can bring positive revolution of prosperity and development in the country. This was the crux of seminar organized with the title” Independence Day, Defense Day; A spiritual Aspect for Pakistani Nation “in connection of Independence day and defense day of Pakistan by Student Advisor Office International Islamic University Islamabad.
The program was presided over the worthy President IIUI Prof Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, while Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed Executive Director IIIRD was guest of honor. Dr. Habib ur Rehman Asim delivered key note address, and Student Advisor male Dr. Tahir Khalili welcome address on the occasion. The program was also attended by Director General AF&P Ghulzar Ahmed Khawja, Dean Faculty of Engineering and Technology Dr. Aqdas Naveed Malik, Dean FSL Dr. Tahir Hakeem, Dean Arabic, Dr. Muhammad Bashir, Deputy Dean Usulu Din, Dr. Haroon Rashid, Head IIU Alumini Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Anwar, Director HR Muhammad Tabrez Aslam, Director Administration Khalid Mahmood Raja and large number of students.
In his address, Dr. Al-Draiweesh said, the foundation of Pakistan laid down on dated, with the arrival of Muhammad bin Qasim in Subcontinent. He invoked that Muslims of Subcontinent laid millions of unprecedented and matchless sacrifices to achieve the destination of separate homeland for Muslims. President said, the future of Muslim Ummah is highly dependent on the future of Pakistan. ”There are conspiracies against Pakistan to damage the Islamic identity, but every conspiracy against Pakistan will go vain with the power of sacrifices rendered by older “, Dr. Al-Draiweesh added. President IIUI said Pakistani with unity, brotherhood and harmony would keep on progressing and developing the nation. He said that Pakistani youth is full of talent and capabilities can lead the country and set precedent for the world. Dr. Al-Draiweesh while advising the students said,” The responsibility of Muslim Ummah and Pakistan is on the shoulders of Pakistani youth, you may prepare yourself accordingly“. He said Pak-Saudi Arab relations are very vital for both the country; it is in deep rooted with the true spirit of Islam.
Dr. Mumtaz said, Pakistani youth is the focus of hopes which associated by the whole nation, that youth may pull out Pakistan from the circle of misery, hopelessness and disappointment. He vowed all plotting against Pakistan would be defeated by the strong faith and firm resolution of the nation. Dr. Habib ur Rehman while mentioning the background history of Pakistan said that, with strong planning the voice of freedom of Muslim in Subcontinent suppressed by the west and even now again, the same is being planted by the world forces. He said all such efforts against Pakistan would be made void with unity and brotherhood while adding that Pakistani has lessons, philosophy and thoughts of Iqbal to defeat the enemies and lead the world. Dr. Tahir Khalili said people of Pakistan are very dedicated and loyal to country even ready to sacrifice their lives today. He said present scenario demands integration, and unity within Pakistani nation to make the country truly dynamic. DAWAH ACADEMY ORGANIZES FAREWELL IN HONOR OF HAFIZ BASHIR AHMED

A farewell luncheon was organized by Dawah Academy Staff in honor of the Additional Director (A&F) Hafiz Bashir Ahmed who is going to be retired in coming days.
The ceremony held on the occasion was presided over by President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh while it was also attended by Director General AF&P Gulzar Ahmed Khwaja, Deputy Director General Dawah Academy Dr. Imtiaz Zafar and other officials of Dawah.
President IIUI while addressing the ceremony said that Dawah Academy is proud of its officials and experienced officials such as Hafiz Bashir are the asset of the varsity and academy. He also lauded the services of Dawah Academy while saying it has been playing a vital role in improving the professional capabilities of various professionals of the country. On the occasion, Dr. Al-Draiweesh made an announcement on the recommendation of departing veteran Hafiz Bashir that one of the Dawah officials would be provided an opportunity to perform Umrah soon. President IIUI urged the participant to refrain from violence and sectarianism and said attitude of peace and patience must be adopted which would help to cope with the contemporary challenges.
He prayed for Hafiz Bashir’s success in the life after retirement and hoped he would remain available if any guidance would be sought in future. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Imtiaz Zafar appreciated the services of Hafiz Bashir and termed him as a precious asset of university.
Hafiz Bashir Ahmed thanked all the organizers of the ceremony and specially President IIUI. He added that 35 years of his life which he devoted for university are the earning which he takes as exemplary. He was of the view that IIUI in the leadership of Dr. Al-Draiweesh would soon make its place among the ranks of leading universities of the world.
At the end, Shields, publication from Dawah Academy and gifts by the President IIUI and DG AF&P were presented to Hafiz Bashir Ahmed.
IRANI CULTURAL ATTACHE CALLS ON RECTOR IIUI DR. MASOOM YASINZAI

Mr. Qasim Muradi Cultural Council of Iran to Pakistan visited International Islamic University and called on Rector IIUI Professor Dr. Masoom Yasinzai. On the occasion, Dr. Taqi Sadiwi, Ex-Cultural Council of Iran to Pakistan and former Dean Faculty of Shariah and Law IIUI Dr. Zia-Ul-Haq were also present.
In the meeting both the personalities discussed the matter of mutual interest and possibilities of cooperation between the IIU and different Irani Universities; it was also deemed that joint educational ventures including seminars, symposium, conferences and research based activities would be initiated which would further be enhanced. It was also deliberated that signed MoUs between IIUI and Irani Universities would be made practical to achieve the real fruits.
They also vowed to expand academic visits from both sides IIU and Irani Universities. At the end university crest was also presented to the distinguished guest by the Rector IIUI.
PRESIDENT IIUI CONDOLES DEATH OF ELDER BROTHER OF SARDAR MUHAMMAD YOUSAF

President International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) called on Minister for Religious Affairs, Sardar Muhammad Yousuf and expressed his heartfelt grief and sorrow over the sad demise of Sardar Muhammad Ismail elder brother of the Minister for Religious Affairs.
Dr. Al-Draiweesh prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to him and other members of the family to bear the irreparable loss with equanimity.

President International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh hosted a dinner in honor of the newly appointed members of Board of Trustees of the university and Board of Governors of the university.
The dinner was also attended by the ambassadors, diplomats including Mr. Jassim M. Al-Khaldi, Charge d’ Affairs, Embassy of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, other diplomats of various countries, members of Board of Governors, Rector IIUI Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, Vice President Academics Dr. Muhammad Bashir Khan, Director General AF&P Gulzar Ahmed Khwaja and key university officials.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Al-Draiweesh felicitated the newly appointed BoT and BoG members and hoped their induction in the worthy boards would be proved as vital for university progress. President IIUI also thanked Govt of Pakistan, specially Chancellor Syed Mamnoon Hussain and Dr. Sulaiman Abdullah Abalkhail for trust in his leadership as Dr. Al-Draiweesh’s appointment for further four years as varsity President. He reiterated his resolve that he would devote himself to make IIUI an exemplary leading educational institution of the world. He also lauded the support of President Pakistan, Rector IIUI and all university officials while saying IIUI has been making a mentionable progress with the joint efforts of all the officials. He also thanked Pakistani government for nominating for Tamgh-i-Imtiaz in recognition of his services in the field of education. President IIUI urged that Muslims should refrain from violence and work for dissemination of peace while adding that Islam is religion of peace and brotherhood.
Worthy Rector IIUI, in his speech appreciated the role of President of Pakistan Syed Mamnoon Hussain and Dr. Sulaiman Abdullah Abalkhail in varsity progress while he also lauded the efforts of Dr. Al-Draiweesh and felicitated him for being nominated for Tamgha-i-Imtiaz. Board of Governors of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) held its 74th meeting Thursday and discussed vital issues of the varsity.
The meeting which was held at Faisal Mosque campus of the university was chaired by the Rector IIUI Dr. Masoom Yasinzai while President IIU (Vice-Chairman) Prof Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, worthy members including Senior Judge Federal Shariat Court Justice Fida Muhammad Khan, Senator Nuzhat Sadiq, Rector COMSAT Institute of Information Technology, Professor Dr. Junaid Ahmed Ziadi nominee of Chairman HEC, Secretary to President of Pakistan Mr. Ahmed Farooq, Dr. Inam-ur-Rehman Scientist Emeritus PIEAS, Mr. Rafiq Tahir of Ministry of Education and Training, Miss Rahila Durrani Member Baluchistan Assembly and Secretary of BoG Mr. Gulzar Ahmed Khwaja, Director General (AF&P), IIUI attended the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Masoom Yasinzai apprised the participants about the recently held meeting of Board of the trustees. He lauded the efforts of President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain, Pro Chancellor IIU Dr, Sulaiman Abdullah Aba AlKhail and President IIUI for their efforts and keen interest in the progress of the university.
He also briefed the participants regarding newly established Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Basic Sciences; he added that the centre would sign an MoU with a German institution at the end of next month. Rector IIUI said that it was a positive omen that President of Pakistan himself was taking keen interest in the matters of IIUI. “Mr. Mamnoon hussain has reassured his support for IIUI recently” he told.
President IIUI, while speaking in the meeting felicitated new members and thanked President of Pakistan, Pro Chancellor IIUI and Rector IIUI for their support for IIUI advancement and prosperity. He also thanked government of Pakistan for nominating him for Tamgha-i-Imtiaz. He stressed that the prevailing situation requires attitude of unity among the Muslim while he urged all Muslims to refrain from violence and set education as their top priority. Gulzar Ahmed Khwaja also gave a comprehensive briefing about the university to the worthy members.
The 42nd meeting of Investment Committee (IC) International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) presided over by Prof. Dr. Ahmad Yousif Al-Draiweesh President IIUI which was also attended by the senior judge Federal Shariat Court Justice Fida Muhammad Khan, Director Staff College National Bank of Pakistan Waseem Ullah, Director General AF&P IIUI Ghulzar Ahmed Khwaja and Director Finance IIUI Khurshed Alam.
In the meeting, the members discussed the matters of investment and decided to expand it volume, so the university may get maximum benefits from it. They also showed confidence over the progress and working of Investment Committee and agreed that IC is heading towards right directions and achieving its targets well in manners. The committee also mulled over the different plans and roadmap to make its fruits maximize. At the end, the respected members also raised their hand to seek the blessings of health from Allah Almighty for Ghulzar Ahmed Khwaja.
PRESIDENT IIUI VISITS FACULTIES, ASSURES VARSITY PROGRESS

President International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh has announced Tuesday that university is working on the idea of building a new academic block for the students of Faculty of Shariah and Law (FSL).
Dr. Al-Draiweesh made this announcement on the occasion of his visit to the facilities at the start of new academic year. He visited faculty of Shariah and Law and the Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) and met with the students. On the occasion, Vice President Academics Dr. Mohammad Bashir Khan and other university top officials were also present. President IIUI was briefed about the activities at the FSL by Dean Dr. Tahir Hakeem while Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Dr. Nabi Baksh Jummani also briefed him regarding the academic activities and performance of the departments of faculty.
While talking to the students at FSL, Dr. Al-Draiweesh said FSL examined a great surge of the students in previous years as it is one of the known faculties across the country. “University is mulling over building a new block for the students of the faculty as we observed a number of foreign and country students have shown immense interest for admission in the faculty” he said.
Dr. Al-Draiweesh urged the students to devote their selves for the studies and advised them that after graduation they would have to work for the dissemination of justice in the society. He added that young students are the precious asset of Ummah which associates a number of hopes with them. President IIUI reiterated his resolve that IIUI would keep providing a milieu of peace and high quality contemporary education integrated with teachings of Islam. He showed satisfaction while visiting the FSS faculty and directed the academic staff to promote the culture of constructive research among the students.
Later, President IIUI inaugurated the tree plantation campaign at the university where he planted an orange plant. The ceremony was attended by Director Administration Khalid Mahmood Raja, Director Human Resource Muhammad Tabraiz Aslam, Director Female Campus Dr. Zaitoon Begum, Dean Faculty of Shariah and Law Dr. Tahir Hakeem, Dean Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences Dr. Muhammad Sher, Dean Faculty of Engineering and Technology Dr. Aqdas Naveed Malik, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Dr. Nabi Baksh Jummani, Students’ Advisor Dr. Tahir Khalili and other university officials. Deans and Directors of the university also planted trees while taking part in the campaign. At the end, President IIU also prayed for the progress of the university and vowed that IIUI would keep working to promote the importance of trees.
A two-day International Conference titled “Humanitarian Action in the World of today-Challenges and Perspectives in the Light of Shariah and Humanitarian law” would be arranged by International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) & The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Pakistan on 22-23 October, 2014 in Islamabad.
The IIUI and the ICRC have already organized a first International Conference on “The Protection of War Victims in the Light of Islamic Law and IHL” in Islamabad in 2004, in which scholars and leaders from the Middle East and South Asia participated. According to the organizers, coming conference is aimed at promoting the understanding and knowledge of rules of Islamic Law for Armed conflict and to highlight the compatibility of modern Humanitarian Law with Islam.
In the conference, Invited international and indigenous scholars would discuss ways to strengthen the cooperation and deepen the dialogue between IIUI, other Islamic institutions and the ICRC for the common purpose of preserving the life and dignity of victims of armed violence. The conference would also help to have a lively and open debate to find common ground for neutral and impartial humanitarian action, and for exchange and between humanitarian actors in the contemporary polarized world.

PRESIDENT IIUI HOSTS DINNER FOR TOP VARSITY OFFICIALS

President International Islamic University Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh hosted dinner for IIUI top officials in felicitation of his appointment as President IIUI for further four years.
In the dinner ceremony Rector, IIUI Prof. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai was chief guest, while Vice President Prof. Dr. Mohammad Bashir Khan, Executive Director Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad, Director Generals (DGs), Deans, Directors of administrative and academic wings also attended the dinner.
Addressing on the occasion, Dr. Masoom Yasinzai congratulated Dr. AL-Draiweesh on his appointment for the further four years approved by Board of Trustees and appreciated the efforts, steps taken by the President IIUI for the promotion of the university. He assured that in leadership of Dr. Al-Draiweesh IIUI would achieve its due heights while terming university a hub of standards of education and learning. Rector said people are in Government and allied institutions are very keen to see IIUI in world standard. ”We would never disappoint them vowing that all IIUI family member are contributing and serving the university to achieve excellence“. He also lauded the role of Pro Chancellor IIUI Dr. Sulaiman Aba Al-Khail in organizing BOT and taking special interest and concerns with great devotion for the cause of university. On the same occasion, in his address Dr. Ahmad Yousif Al-Draiweesh also paid profound thanks to President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain on his nomination for Tamgha-e-Imtiaz while saying” he is grateful to Government of Pakistan on recognizing his humble contribution and services for the Islamic University. He vowed to serve IIUI, Pakistan and Muslim Ummah even with more zeal and zest. Dr. Al-Draiweesh enriched participants that Board of Trustees showed great confidence over the progress, development and advancement of IIUI and took important decisions in favor of university; it also assured maximum cooperation and contribution to achieve the core objectives of the university.
Dr. Al-Draiweesh also prayed for the health of Dr. Masoom Yasinzai and said under his supervision university is heading towards the core goals of the university. Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh admired the services of Egyptian teachers for the IIU. He said “IIU feels proud to have foreign faculty members including Egypt, Saudi Arabia and from many other Muslim countries”. He also thanked to the Al-Azhar University Egypt and lauded the role for this generous cooperation in this regard.
Dr. Al-Draiweesh while advising the participants said, with your devotion, good conduct and hardworking, university will lead among the top universities of the world. He assured his cooperation will always be with the university. He said IIU has talented and hardworking people who have the ability to set a line towards the high destiny. In the dinner ceremony, Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad presented gifts to Dr. Masoon Yasinzai and Dr. Al-Draiweesh with best wishes and prayers.
President International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, while addressing to the 84th training course of Aima and scholars of Pakistan forces organized by Dawah Academy of the university, has said Ulema possess most important responsibility which is service of Islam. The address was attended by Deputy Director General Dawah Academy Dr. Imtiaz Zafar, other officers of Dawah and 45 participants of the course.
President urged the participants to adopt the attitude of Taqwah and advised that they should work for the elimination of sectarianism from the society. Aima and scholars are the most precious asset of Muslim Ummah, he said. Dr. Al-Draiweesh said Islamic scholars are the people who can lead Muslim Ummah towards unity. He stressed upon the participants to disseminate Islam’s message of peace. He also lauded the role of Dawah academy while saying it has been playing vital role for providing training to the important professionals of the society. President IIUI hoped that participants would apply the gained knowledge of course.
Participants thanked President IIUI for their support and vowed they would work for dissemination of Islam’s true message of peace. Participants also termed the course as beneficial and valuable for them.
International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) has started mulling over dealing with the energy deficit and minimizing the financial spending of electricity billings through utilizing the solar energy.
A meeting to review the feasibility and possibilities of dealing with IIUI’s 2 MW energy requirements and collaboration with relevant investment and technical organizations was held here Thursday at new campus of the university which was attended by the Rector IIUI Dr. Masoom Yasinzai and President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh. Deans and heads of departments of Faculty of engineering and technology and Directors of all relevant departments also participated in the meeting.
The participants discussed in detail the agenda of filling the energy gap for IIUI via a 10 MW project of grid solar panels. The point of providing excess energy supply to other organizations to generate more revenue for IIUI was also discussed. In the meeting, a company Management De Consortium Capital presented suggestions regarding ten megawatt project of IIUI.
Speaking on the occasion, Rector IIUI said university wants to prepare its students as real skilled entrepreneurs who would know about the field work while the project under discussion would provide knowledge implementation opportunities to the students in addition with creating a more practical attitude among them.
President IIUI, in his remarks on the occasion said country is facing energy deficit and such initiatives from IIUI would help to build a skilled youth equipped with knowledge of contemporary technology while it would also help to plan for ways of dealing with energy crisis in future.
It was decided that special committee containing technical university experts, directors and relevant officers would work for exploring the avenues of materializing the 10 MW project and it would also see possibilities of partnership with the relevant organizations to make it more feasible.
A Baluchistan Rural Support Program (BRSP) delegation of teachers and students from Baluchistan province visited International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) yesterday.
45 member delegation of BRSP exposure program was headed by Ghulam Muhammad Muhammadi, District Program Manager, Youth Empowerment Project, Quetta. The delegation was given a detailed briefing about the university by Additional Director Protocol and Public Relations, IIUI Hairan Khattak.
Participants took keen interest in knowing details about university faculties and constituent units. They termed the visit useful and thanked university administration for warm hospitality.
Hairan Khattak said that university gives top priority to students of Baluchistan and they would find every individual helpful if any assistance and cooperation would be needed to the students of Baluchistan.
Later, Participants also visited university faculties and central library.
A high level delegation of International Islamic University Islamabad headed by its Rector IIUI Dr. Masoom Yasinzai and President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh visited Higher Education Commission (HEC) and discussed matters pertaining to boost mutual cooperation and International Islamic Universities Consortium.
In a meeting on the occasion, IIUI delegation met with Chairman HEC Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Vice Rector Islamic University in Uganda Dr. Mouhamad Mpezamihigo and Chairman University of Lahore Rauf Ahmed.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh stressed upon further extending the mutual cooperation among all the international Islamic universities in world and it was agreed on the occasion that a consortium of the international Islamic Universities would be launched which would help to bridge the gaps and boost multilateral coordination among all Islamic Universities. It was also agreed that forthcoming meeting of the Consortium would be held at International Islamic University.

President International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh called on President, Saudi Commission for Wildlife Prince Bandar Bin Saud Al Saud and discussed issues of mutual interest in the meeting.
Both heads discussed matters pertaining to importance of wild life and agreed that an MoU would be soon signed in future between Saudi Commission for Wildlife and department of environmental sciences of IIUI. Prince Bandar Bin Saud showed keen interest in extending the mutual relations with IIUI and assured that Saudi Commission for Wildlife would be found always ready for bilateral cooperation in the field of wild life and protection of environment. President IIUI, on the occasion, also apprised the prince regarding the faculty, performance and nature of research work being held at the department of environmental sciences at IIUI.
Prince Bandar Bin Saud Al Saud lauded the services of Dr. Al-Draiweesh while he also felicitated him for being nominated for the Tamgha-e- Imtiaz by the government of Pakistan. He hoped that IIUI would further progress in the academic fields and would soon make its vital place among the ranks of leading varsities across the world. He added that Dr. Al-Draiweesh has been the source of further strengthening the Saudi-Pak brethren relations and wished him success in achievement of his lofty goals he has for the prosperity and progress of IIUI.
Dr. Al-Draiweesh hoped that cooperation between the both sides would pave the way for the service of Ummah, he appreciated Prince Bandar Bin Saud Al Saud for his keen interest in the progress of IIUI and also thanked for his warm hospitality. On the occasion, President IIUI presented university publications along with his book on protection of environment which has earned special Madina tul Munawarah award. Prince Bandar Bin Saud Al Saud also presented publications of commission to president IIUI and assured of ample cooperation from his side to IIUI.

DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING ORGANIZES A SEMINAR

Department of Electronics Engineering, Female Campus International Islamic University organized a professional seminar on the topic “FYP Offering, Monitoring and Assessment”. Dr Shehroz Khan from IIU Malaysia (foreign faculty in IIUI) was guest speaker in the seminar. In this talk, he discussed selection and monitoring of Final Year Projects in detail. He further elaborated about literature survey, simulation, implementation and documentation of final year projects (FYP). Dr. Shehroz enriched the students about the assessments, of the projects and other lingered factors and elements of the research. The seminar was actively attended by the faculty members and students, in which they also got the solution of their queries by asking questions.
ANTI JUDICIARY BANNERS CASE: ACCUSED RASHID NOT IIUI EMPLOYEE
A three column news item published in daily Jang Thursday while quoting Deputy Attorney General Khwaja Ahmed Hussain reported that accused Rashid S/O Salahudin Sheikh is an employee of International Islamic University Islamabad which is baseless.
The university administration has investigated that listed information is not based on facts and information given in the case about Rashid does not match with record of any university employee. However, if contacted, university administration would cooperate with all investigative agencies in this regard.
The 10th annual meeting of the Board of the Trustees of International Islamic University IIUI elected new members for the period three years. The meeting was held at Al-Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University Riyadh Saudi Arab.
It’s pertinent to mention here that all the BOT members elected against the vacancies caused by the sad demise of nine founder members. The honourable members are included, Mr. Justice (R) Khalil ur Rehman Khan, Ex Rector IIUI, Mr. Justice Dr. Fida Muhammad Khan senior judge Federal Shariat Court, Shdikh Abdul Rehman Bin Abdullah Al-Mahmoud President, Presidency of Shariat Courts and Islamic Affairs, Doha Qatar, Dr. Iyad Amen Madni Secretary General OIC, Mr Justice Mohammad Taqi Usmani, VP Darul Uloom Karachi, Ms Razina Alam Khan Ex Senator, Dr Muhammad Khalid Masud Former Chairman, Council of Islamic Ideology Pakistan, Sheikh Hamood Bin Abdullah Al-Theeb and Sheikh Abdul Rehman Ali Al Juraisi from Saudi Arab.
The BOT also nominated three members of Board of Governors of IIUI included Senator Mrs Nuzhat Sadiq, Mrs. Rahila Durrani MPA Balochistan, and Mr. Ahmad Farooq Secretary to President of Pakistan for the period of two years. In addition BOT also approved the name of Mr. Mahmood Elahi as nominee on the Finance and Planning Committee of the university, while Mr. Justice (R) Khalil ur Rehman Khan former Chief Justice Lahore High Court as nominee of the Council of Islamic Research Institute of university, Dr. Faheem Khan former Director General International Institute of Islamic Economics as nominee of the Council of IIIE, Dr. Fazal Elahi former Professor of IIUI as nominee of the Council of Dawah Academy of the university, Mr Justice (R) Amjad Ali Sheikh former Judge LHC as nominee of the Council of Shariah Academy of the university for a period of two years.
It’s worth mentioning that, the Board of the Trustees of IIUI is the supreme authority of IIUI, which crafts the policies and regulations of the university. It also approves the establishment of any academicals units and departments of the university. Likewise, the Board of the Trustees of IIUI is responsible of studying the annual reports and accrediting the annual budget of the university, beside other core tasks and activities that governs the university’s affairs and its links with other counterparts.
A delegation of Chinese LinYi University visited International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), met with university high officials and discussed matters of expanding mutual cooperation and signing MoUs in this regard. The delegation was headed by Din Hai Tao of Lin Yi University.
Both sides agreed that measures would be taken to pave the way for an MoU under which work for establishing a China-Muslim World Studies Centre would be initiated. It was also agreed after MoU exchange of delegations would be materialized from both sides and students and Faculty members of Arabic and Chinese Languages would learn from experiences of each other.
On the occasion of the delegation’s meeting with IIUI officials the meeting was attended by Rector IIUI Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, Acting President IIUI Dr. Mohammad Bashir Khan, Director General (AF&P) Gulzar Ahmed Khwaja, Deans and Directors of the university. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Masoom Yasinzai said IIUI doors are wide open for mutual cooperation with all academic institutions of the world and after the detailed discussion and ground work measures for materializing and signing the MoU would soon be taken. He also thanked LinYi administration for its keen interest in partnership with IIUI.
MEHBOOB ELAHI VISITS IIUI, ASSURES COOPERATION FOR VARSITY PROGRESS

Member Board of Trustees, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Mehboob Elahi Tuesday said that Education plays a vital role in progress of the society and progress of IIUI can help to achieve the goal of a developed society.
This he said on the occasion of his visit to IIUI during his meeting with Rector IIUI Dr. Masoom Yasinazi and other university administrative officers. IIUI Board of Trustees would work for involving the university in public and private sector partnership which will further enhance the academic and infrastructural growth of the university, he said in a meeting with Rector IIUI which was also attended by Acting President IIUI Dr. Mohammad Bashir Khan and Director General (AF&P) IIUI Gulzar Ahmed Khwaja.
In the meeting, Rector IIUI apprised Mr. Mehboob Elahi regarding the Academic progress of the varsity while he also briefed him on various infrastructure projects, performance and work nature of IIUI units and institutes. He added that separate campus for the female students is a distinction of IIUI where 14,000 on campus students acquiring quality education in 140 programs integrated with teachings of Islam. “University has provided degrees to thousands of the students in many disciplines who are now becoming a source of proud for IIUI” Rector IIUI added.
Mehboob Elahi lauded the performance and ongoing projects of the university and vowed to work for the completion of the projects while assuring all possible cooperation in this regard.
Later, he was also given a detailed presentation regarding the university by Gulzar Ahmed Khwaja in presence of Rector IIUI, Vice President IIUI and Directors of all departments. On the occasion, Dr. Masoom Yasinzai presented a shield of university and IIUI publications to Mr. Mehboob Elahi. He also visited female and male campuses and the university central library at the end of his visit.
NEW ACADEMIC YEAR STARTS AT IIU, VARSITY PRESIDENT WELCOMES NEW STUDENTS

New Academic year at International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) commenced here on Monday at both campuses of the university where thousands of the male and female students joined their respective classes in various departments of the 9 faculties of university.
IIUI had launched its admission campaign back in August after which a large number of foreign students and students hailing from all regions of country have been enrolled in more than hundred degree programs.
President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, in his message to the new students has welcomed them and vowed that university would provide every possible facility to nurture this valuable asset of Ummah. He also congratulated IIUI administration and faculty members on successful admission campaign and admission process. He also reiterated his resolve that IIUI would keep providing a milieu of peace and brotherhood to its students and new young minds would be provided quality contemporary education integrated with teachings of Islam.
A combined Faculty meeting was held in FMS on Wednesday, September 03, 2014 which was presided by Dr. Muhammad Bashir Khan, Acting President IIUI/ Dean FMS.The Acting President/Dean FMS emphasized the incorporation of Islamic Perspective in all the courses. Dr. Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, Deputy Dean FMS appreciated the efforts of entire faculty for meeting the challenges with hardwork. He also emphasized on Academia-Industrial linkages and future programs at FMS. Ms. Tasneem Fatima, Chairperson female Campus, Mr. Muhammad Awais Ejaz Khan, Chairman, UG & G, Dr. Muhammad Arif, Acting Chairman HS & R and male other male and female faculty members gave their valuable inputs. All academic/ administrative and student matters were discussed at length.
The 8th Meeting of the Board of Advanced Studies & Research (BASR) 2014 of the International Islamic University was held under the chairmanship of Acting President IIUI Prof Dr. Muhammad Bashir Khan. In the meeting, research proposals and synopsis and the thesis of the students of Faculty of Social Sciences were discussed and some decisions were also taken accordingly.
The meeting was attended by all the worthy members of the Board and issued precious directions for further research work to the students.
Dr. Muhammad Bashir in his remarks said that the topic, validity of the research is very much important, it should be taken great care, while choosing the area.”The research should be conducted on contemporary issues and problems“. INTERNATIONAL ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY INKS MOUS WITH AL-IMAM UNIVERSITY

International Islamic University Islamabad signed two separate MoU with the Al-Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University Riyadh Saudi Arabia in the field of Information Technology and Languages respectively.
The first MoU was signed by President IIUI Prof Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh on behalf of IIUI and Dr. Waleed Al-Jandal, Dean, Deanship of Information Technology. The MoU would pave the way to get progress and achieve excellence with cooperative endeavors in the field of Information Technology by sharing expertise and skills from both sides.
The second MoU which was inked by Dr. Al-Draiweesh and Dr. Abdullah bin Haziz Al-Sulmee Dean, Deanship of Affair of Institute of Abroad (DAIA) to cooperate in the field of languages specially Arabic for non Arabs. According the second MoU DAIA would also offer teaching faculty, scholarships, exchange of students and joint academic and research programs. These MoUs were specially guided and supported by Prof. Dr. Suliman Aba Al-Khail, Rector of Al-Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, who is also Pro Chancellor of IIUI. On the eve of signing ceremony of MoUs Dr. Suliman Aba Al-Khail highly praised and encouraged the step and also considered the signatures as a leading opportunity for both universities. He said these MoUs would prove key mile stone to achieve high destination and founding objectives of both the universities. “I am fully convinced that, IUII represents appreciable example for the joint orientated Islamic action, also on the way forward“. He added.
Dr. Aba al-Khail said IIUI has taken bold steps toward achieving its objectives and is on the way to progress in the dynamic leadership of Dr. Al-Draiweesh.
President IIUI Dr. Al-Draiweesh in his vote of thanks paid high gratitude to Dr. Suliman Aba Al-Khail on valuable contributions and special consideration for IIUI. ”Mutual cooperation and sharing experiences will lead both universities towards progress and development “. He maintained. President IIUI said Islamic University owns great leadership, talented faculty, renowned scholars and peaceful milieu for the students.
Commended the signature step, Dr. Waleed Al-Jandal considered it as a good opportunity for expansion of expertise in Information Technology. “Signed MoU would be benefiting for universities and it will be impacting on its deliverables to the marketplace”. He added.
Dr. Abdullah bin Haziz said that, the MoU would cement the academics cooperation between both universities including the exchange of faculty and students. It would also a base of sharing knowledge, resources, and jointly organizing conferences and symposiums.
DIRECTOR FINANCE REPRESENTS IIU IN HEC DELEGATION FOR THAILAND & AUSTRALIA

Khurshid Alam, Director Finance International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) represented the university in an HEC delegation of 25 Treasurers/Directors Finance consisting of public sector universities all over Pakistan for Thailand and Australia.
The visit was arranged with the coordination of “Asian Institute of Technology”, Thailand on the instructions of the World Bank. The delegation visited the various Institutions and had long discussions on the procedure, resource diversification, financial management and cost control.
Khurshid Alam has said, basic idea of the visit was that the Treasurers may discuss the resource diversification, financial management and cost control being followed by the universities of developed countries and have an international exposure for day to day working.
IMAM MUHAMMAD BIN SAUD ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY APPROVES SCHOLARSHIPS FOR 15 IIUI STUDENTS

Imam Muhammad Bin Saud Islamic University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia has approved scholarships for 15 students of International Islamic University Islamabad(IIUI) who would acquire free education in various departments of Imam Muhammad Bin Saud Islamic University.
This step is taken in view of an MoU which was signed between both universities with the efforts of President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh. President IIUI while lauding the cooperation of KSA government and Imam Muhammad Bin Saud Islamic University has thanked both for mutual cooperation. He reiterated his resolve that IIUI would remain committed for cooperation with universities of Islamic world.
Last year, 200 IIUI students were provided scholarships by various universities of Saudi Arabia, those students are getting facilities such as free education and residence under the said scholarships.
