IIUI CHANGES ADMISSION TESTS SCHEDULE IIUI MS, PhD STUDENTS ALLOWED FOR ADMISSION ON PROVISIONAL BASIS

International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) has decided to reschedule its admission tests while applications for admissions to MS program and PhD program will also be provisionally accepted from IIUI students only.
According to a notification, admission tests of Faculties of Shariah and Law and Social Sciences tests which were to be held on 13 and 15 August would now be held on 18 and 19 August respectively. Details of the changed schedule have been uploaded on university website www.iiu.edu.pk.
Notification also includes that students of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) who will complete their degrees by the end of August can apply for the admission to MS program on provisional basis while those students who have submitted MS thesis and have to undergo the viva voce examination can also apply on provisional basis. Students would have to submit an undertaking that required results would be submitted before September 30, 2014.Last date of acceptance of such forms will be August 05.
DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING ORGANIZES SEMINAR

Department of Electronics Engineering International Islamic University organized a professional seminar via video link on the topic “research: what, where and how-an electrical engineers odyssey” by Dr.V. Jagadeesh Kumar from IIT Chennai India. He introduced the participants to various forms of research with historical examples of each type of research. He explained that all forms of research are essential and can elevate a researcher to the highest possible level. The seminar was attended by the faculty members and students.
FACULTY OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY ORGANIZES TALK

Faculty of Engineering and Technology International Islamic University organized a talk in which Prof. Dr. Mohd Nasir Taib from the University Technology MARA, Malaysia was guest speaker. It was attended by the large number of faculty members and students respectively.
He in his talk elaborated how academic conferences offer many advantages in terms of advancement of knowledge, sharing information, networking and professional connectivity with experts, capturing new ideas and initiating new collaborations.
President International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh called on Secretary General Organization of Islamic Conference Iyad bin Amin Madani in his office at Makkah Mukarama Saudi Arabia.
In the meeting, Dr. Al-Draiweesh made Secretary General aware about the IIUI, and said Islamic University is very distinctive educational institution which nurturing Muslim youth with an aim to produce scholars having skills and integrated with the requirements of the time. President briefed him about the achievements, ongoing projects and future plans of the university in detail. He also threw light on programs and projects run by university for the public service of the country. Dr. Al-Draiweesh said IIU taking part very actively in social programs including training session, Islamic orientation courses for different classes of the society. He further enriched worthy SG that IIUI has best team of teachers and professors, who are performing their responsibilities very efficiently and developing Muslim youth in accordance with the needs of modern time. Both the personalities also discussed the problems, matters and developmental projects of the university. Iyad Amin also assured Dr. Al-Draiweesh all kind of support and cooperation for IIUI. He also appreciated the role and progressive approach for the unity of Muslim Ummah. Secretary General admired the services of Islamic University and wished to continue its efforts for promotion of Islamic teachings in the world.

Dawah Centre for Women (DCW) International Islamic University Islamabad organized concluding ceremony of Ramzan activities which comprising Lectures, Tajweed Quran, Tafseer Quran, Fehmul Hadith classes in which more than 500 students and employees participated. Acting President IIUI Dr. Muhammad Bashir Khan graced the ceremony as chief guest, while addressing the participants said the Holy Book Quran is ultimate source of guidance and seeking the right path and the Seerah PBUH is the unique and finest example of life for mankind. Dr. Bashir further enriched the participants saying that IIUI is unique hub of education where learning is integrated with Islamic teachings. He termed these activities great success and appreciated the large number of zealous participation in the courses.
On the occasion In-Charge Faisal Masjid Islamic Center Misbah ur Rehman Yousfi, Director Female Campus Dr. Farkhanda Zia, Ex Director Female Campus Dr. Zaitoon Begum and In-charge Dawah DCW also shared their views in this regards. At the end, the participants were awarded books by the Dr. Bashir Khan. The whole activities were coordinated by the Mrs. Faryal Umbreen.
The completion of Holy Quran ceremony organized by Office of the Alumni International Islamic University Islamabad which was graced by the Director Rabta Aalam-e-Islami Islamabad Al-Shiekh Abduh Muhammad Etain, Acting President IIU Dr. Muhammad Bashir Khan as chief guests. On the occasion, Dr. Barakatk Deeb was guest speaker while In-charge Alumni Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Anwar, Student Advisor male Dr. Muhammad Tahir Khalili, Hostel Provost Dr. Hafiz Abid Masood and Abdul Qadir Haroon also shared their views. Dr. Bashir Khan in his speech highlighted the image of the university and its Islamic practices also adding that university is committed to provide peaceful milieu to its students integrated with teaching of Islam.
Dr. Bashir Khan and Abu Muhammad Zain representative Rabta Aalam e Islami awarded the honorarium of 9000 and gifts to each Imam who led the Salat e Taraveeh. It is pertinent to mention here that university arranges Salat e Taraveeh in all Mosques in university and hostels as well.
Arabic Language Centre of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) has offered one month long summer Arabic course which will start on August 8 while last date for submission of admission application and fee is August 5.
This 5 week long short course is launched separately for male and female students while male students would join evening and female students would join morning classes of the course. The course is designed in the way that a student can learn how to understand Quran directly through grammatical rules and reading comprehension. It also teaches students that how a word changes its form and gets new meanings in the Quran. In addition, an extensive spoken material with drills and vocabulary from daily life would be the part of the course.

Dr. Tahir Khalily, Students Advisor International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) has congratulated Professor Dr. Ahmad Yousaf A. AL Draiweesh, on his confirmation as President of International Islamic University Islamabad, for next four years.
In his felicitation message, Dr. Khalily said that he is very pleased that the BOT, just gave due credit to his long-time experience of consistent and dedicated work for the good of all. He said that he is confident that under the leadership of Dr. Draiweesh, IIUI would have more strength in future.

NBF Publishes Pioneering, innovative book معاصر عربی؛ اہم لہجات کے ساتھ

Based on innovative ways of learning Modern Standard Arabic, a pioneering book: معاصر عربی؛ اہم لہجات کے ساتھ authored by Prof. Dr. Eckehard Schulz Dr. Inamul Haq Ghazi & Ms. Munazzah Masood, has been published by National Book Foundation Islamabad.
This kind of work is published for the first time in Pakistan. The book, having 728 pages, consists of 24 lessons. After every 6 lessons, an Intensive Review has been included to assess the progress of learners. The book basically teaches the Modern standard Arabic but it also make the learner cognizant with 4 major dialects of the Arab world i.e. Iraqi/Gulf/Arabian Peninsula, Syria/Lebanon/Palestine, Egypt & Maghreb. Vocabulary and grammar are based in the book on frequency analysis, communication requirements & cultural competence.
According to the author Dr. Inamul Haq Ghazi, The original texts are selected from various fields such as history, society, religion, politics, sports, science and culture. “Glossary of vocabulary, tables of Arabic verbs, numbers & grammatical terminology are also appended to the book” he added.
معاصر عربی has adopted an international language proficiency parameters i.e. Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). After finishing lessons 1-12, the learner reaches the level A-2 as per CEFR which is equal to Novice High according to the rating scale of the American Council of Teaching Foreign Languages (ACTFL). Lessons 13-24 enable the learner to attain level B-2 as per CEFR and Intermediate Mid-level according to the ACTFL.

IIUI CONTINUES FUND RAISING CAMPAIGN FOR IDPs, MORE AMOUNT GATHERED

International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) continues fund raising campaign for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan Agency (NWA) as its team gathers more amount exceeding 5 lac.
Earlier, a team headed by university’s Director of Finance Khurshid Alam had distributed amount of more than 7 lac rupees among 75 families of IDPs.
The team gathered more amount of five and half lac from Faisal Mosque and university’s Kuwait Hostel’s mosque this Friday which would be distributed soon among the displaced families. The team headed by Khurshid Alam includes Rana Asghar Ali Shahid, Muhammad Jameel, Muzamil Hussain Shah, Shabbir Ahmed Mir, Rana Ishaq, Nuzhat Zareen, Dr. Islam ud Din and Rohban Younis who have vowed that fund raising would continue also in future to facilitate the IDPs.
DR. AL-DRAIWEESH APPOINTED AS IIUI PRESIDENT FOR 4 YEAR

The 10th meeting of the Board of Trustees of International Islamic University Islamabad, was held at Imam Muhammad Bin Saud Islamic University Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on 1st July 2014 under the Chairmanship of Prof Dr. Sulaiman Aba Al-Khail, Pro-Chancellor and Rector of Imam Muhammad Bin Saud Islamic University Riyadh, KSA.
The holding of meeting at Riyadh was authorized by the Chancellor/President Islamic Republic of Pakistan. In addition to other important items of agenda, the Board of Trustees approved the appointment of Prof Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh as President International Islamic University with effect from 1st July for a term of four years.
The Board also confirmed and ratified the action taken by the Chancellor/President Islamic Republic of Pakistan regarding appointment of Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh as President IIU covering the period 11th October 2012 to June 30th 2014.
DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY TO HOLD PH.D DISSERTATION OPEN DEFENCE

The Department of Psychology International Islamic University has arranged defence for the Doctoral dissertation of Ms Huma Zafar, which supervised by chairperson department of psychology Dr Muhammad Tahir Khalily. The thesis defence ceremony will be held at Main Library Seminar Room of the university on 18th July, 11 am and open for all to attend.
The worth mentioning here is that Ms Huma was awarded with Indigenous Scholarship for her Ph.D. by the Higher Education Commission. The dissertation title: Dysfunctional Separation-Individuation and Low Autonomy in Adolescents: Manifestations and Management of Psychological Stress.
MAKTABA TU DAWAH KSA ARRANGES IFTAR PARTY AT IIUI HOSTEL

The educational project of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Maktaba Tu Dawa in Pakistan arranged grand Iftar Party at hostels of International Islamic University Islamabad here at yesterday.
The Director Maktaba Tu Dawa Abu Saad Muhammad bin Saad Aldoussri, Acting ambassador of Royal Embassy of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Jasim bin Muhammad Al-Khaldi graced the Iftar party as chief guest, while Rector IIUI Dr. Masoom Yasin Zai, hostels’ provost IIUI Dr. Abid Masood, Deans of different faculties, faculty members of different departments were also present on the occasion.
The Iftar party was arranged for more than fifteen hundred students. At the occasion Muhammad bin Saad made special prayer for the prosperity of Pakistan and unity of Muslim Ummah.
The admission date in International Islamic University Islamabad has been extended till July 18. Admission process at university is in full swing and a great rush of applicants has been witnessed in couple of days. University administration decided to extend the admission form submission date to facilitate and accommodate maximum students, as the long queues of students to submit admission form reported on yesterday.

Faculty of Engineering and Technology International Islamic University Islamabad organized Professional Seminar on “Research and Academic Article Writing”. Dr. Sulaiman Wadi Harun from the Department of Electrical Engineering University of Malaya, Malaysia was guest speaker. Prof Sulaiman spoke in length about the contents of a research article that may be structured as consisting of: Abstract à Introduction à Method and Technique à Results and Discussion à Conclusions à References.
Dr. Sulaiman offered to support students interested in PhD and for short term placement with the University of Malaya where he is running the Photonic Research Center. On the occasion Dean FET Prof Aqdas Naveed Malik and DEE HoD, Dr Muhammad Amir Khaliq thanked the audience for attending and the speaker.
IIUI TEAM DISTRIBUTES MORE THAN 7 LAC AMOUNT AMONG IDPs

A ten member team of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) visited Bannu and Karak districts and distributed relief amount of more than 7 lac rupees among 75 families of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan Agency (NWA) at the rate of RS. 10,000 per family.
The IIUI team was headed by Director Finance Khurshid Alam while Additional Director HR Muhammad Jameel, Deputy Director Publications IRI Syed Muzzazmil Hussain Shah, Deputy Director Sports Syed Manzoor Hussain Shah, Assistant Director Finance Ishtiaq Ahmed, Assistant Director HR Rohban Younis, Abdul Malik and Dr. Islam ud din (Faculty member) also accompanied him.
Meanwhile, IIUI President Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh has also announced an amount of 50,000 from his own pocket for the IDPs and prayed for their early rehabilitation.
IIUI, few years back in floods and earth quake disasters, had also contributed a great amount. The said amount for IDPs was gathered by the committee at Faisal Mosque and other sources who took keen interest to help the people of NWA. More Details …

Dr. Ijaz Mansoor Qureshi spoke on “Naturally Inspired Optimization Techniques Evolution Computing”. He focused mainly on research for the best and enriched the audience about Genetic Algorithm (GA, algorithmic) and Particle Swarm Optimization (heuristic, PSO). On the occasion Dean FET Dr. Aqdas Naveed Malik, faculty members and students were also present.
DEE ORGANIZES SEMINAR ON ROLE, VISION OF PTA & AREAS OF COLLABORATION WITH ACADEMIA

A seminar on “Role and Vision of PTA and areas of collaboration with Academia” was held at Department of Electronics Engineering (DEE) of Faculty of Engineering and Technology of IIUI which was addressed by Dr. Syed Ismail Shah, Chairman-PTA.
In his professional talk, he explained how de-regularization has been a regularized intervention in the monopoly of telecom industry, taking mobile communication into 3G and 4G eras. “Fiber optical communication, which is ready to play a backbone role, stands at 300GBS at this moment in Pakistan” he said while adding “revolutionizing market leading us into enjoying broadband services, providing medical services to residential areas in inaccessible location, research co-supervision and lecture/seminars through video conferencing”. He said PTA is planning to have devices to device communication possible with sensors nodes coupled with efficiently developed processing algorithms.
Dr. Syed Ismail Shah remained Member Telecom in Ministry of Information Technology during 2012. Dr. Shah brings with him the vast experience in the ICT industry and academics at national and international level. He has more than 90 publications and has supervised 6 PhD students. He is a certified trainer on 3G and 4G technologies and a Life Member of the Pakistan Engineering Council.
Students of Faculty of Engineering and Technology have brought fame to International Islamic University by winning the first position in RoboWars competition held at EME NUST.
A team from FET DEE students of F11 batch comprising of Ihtasham Zahid, Hassan Nawaz and Omer Baig along with the faculty members Engr. Adil Farooq and Engr. Hassaan Haider participated in National Engineering Robotics Contest (NERC) 2014 RoboWars at EME NUST. Their Robot ELECTRO WARRIOR from IIUI won the first RoboWars title at NERC competing with top teams from all over Pakistan.
TIMING OF NAMAZ-E-ISHA 09:15 WHILE NAMAZ-E-JUMMA 01:30 AT FAISAL MASJID
During the Holy Month of Ramadan, the timing of Namaz-e-Isha would be 09:15 while Namaz-e-Jummah would be offered at 01:30 at Faisal Masjid, Islamabad. According to the circular released by the management of Islamic Centre of Faisal Masjid, Imamat of Namaz-e-Traveeh would be lead by Qari Muhammad Ikhlaq, Qari Mufti Zia ur Rehman, Qari Muhammad Nauman and Qari Ehsan Ullah while Khatam-ul-Quran would be done at 25th Traveeh. The Urdu Khutaba in Namaz-e-Jumma during Ramadan would start at 12:45
