4527 FEMALE STUDENTS CONFERRED DEGREES IN 9TH CONVOCATION, 121 GOLD MEDALISTS AWARDED IN MEGA EVENT
Unity among Muslim countries and promotion of knowledge are basic requirements of hour to foil the lethal aims of enemies of Muslim Ummah said Pro Chancellor International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Dr. Sulaiman Abdullah Aba Al-Khail on Sunday while conferring 4527 degrees on female students in 9th convocation of the university.
121 female students were awarded gold medals while 13 PhD, 404 MS/Mphil, 2092 Masters and 2018 BS degrees were conferred degrees during the mega event which was held at Jinnah Convention center. The ceremony of the mega event was attended by Rector IIUI Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, Vice President IIUI Dr. Muhammad Bashir Khan, Director General AF&P Gulzar Ahmed Khwaja, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Pakistan Abdulaziz Ibrahim Al-Ghadir, Senator Sardar Fateh Muhammad Hassani, Ambassadors and High commissions of various countries, prominent political and social figures, students and their parents.
“Higher seats of learning like IIUI can play pivotal role for unity among the ranks of Muslim Ummah by nurturing the minds of youth in accordance to teachings of Islam” said Dr. Sulaiman Aba Al-Khail. He said IIUI is a visible example of Pak-Saudi strong bilateral relations and love for each other from both sides is commendable. He added that being representative of King Abdullah bin Saud he received honorary degree which was itself an honor for him. He said that custodian of the Holy Mosques has said in his message to people of Pakistan that Saudi Arabia would continue its cooperation with IIUI and people of Pakistan.
Pro Chancellor IIUI announced that best researcher, best teacher and best worker of the university would be rewarded soon and Imam Muhammad Bin Saud University would further extend its mutual relations with IIUI by exchanging the faculty and delegations of students. He maintained that IIUI is a truly international educational institution and a comprehensive plan for progress of the university is being prepared as it is the ultimate source of bright future of the Muslim youth. While congratulating the students Dr. Aba Al-Khail said “today not only the students but their parents should be felicitated as they made right choice for the education of their children”. He, while urging for unity of Muslim Ummah said few elements having plans to create instability in Muslim countries, for this, we would have to make our educational institutions more functional by giving the educational hubs chance to formulate a milieu of unity in Muslim world. He lauded the efforts of Rector IIUI and President IIUI while saying that IIUI is heading towards right direction in their leadership and providing precious minds to Muslim world. “Addressing to the daughters of IIUI is a matter of proud because these are real asset of Ummah” Dr. Aba Al-Khail said.
Earlier, in his welcome address Dr. Masoom Yasinzai said IIUI has become a major centre for higher education for female in Pakistan with more than 10000 female students on campus. He said IIUI provides peaceful and secure environment for education to not only Pakistani students but also students of more than 40 countries getting education in purely academic environment.
“We are proud that in spite of large body of students, the campus remained peaceful and no untoward incidence has taken place” said Rector IIUI. We are proud that this is one of the most peaceful campuses in the country, he added. Dr Yasinzai said that more than 25000 students at IIUI campuses are getting contemporary knowledge integrated with teachings of Islam, and now university is focusing on engineering, science and technology and social sciences after establishing excellence in traditional fields of Arabic, Islamic Studies, Shariah and Islamic Economics. He hoped that Saudi government would continue extending its cooperation with IIUI.
In his remarks, Dr. Al-Draiweesh said “today is the historical day for IIUI because daughters of the university who worked hard to gain knowledge have received the reward”. He thanked Dr. Aba Al-Khail for participating in the mega event of IIUI. President IIUI, while advising the female students said women are half of the Ummah, literate daughters of Muslim world have responsibility to nurture the children of Ummah, and it must be their top priority. He urged them to adopt moderation and follow the teachings of Allah and His Prophet (PBUH) in the practical lives. President IIUI said our female students are the proud of Muslim Ummah.
Meanwhile, students were found excited on having photo sessions with Pro Chancellor IIUI and receiving degrees. IIUI separately arranged a convocation session for female students on Sunday while male students were rewarded in separate convocation ceremony on Saturday.

President of Pakistan and Chancellor of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Mamnoon Hussain has said Pakistan is an important Islamic country which will soon become a source of economic prosperity and stability in the region, Youth of Pakistan and Muslim world can lead the Ummah towards a way of development, peace and progress.
He was addressing to the 9th Convocation ceremony of IIUI at Jinnah convention center which was organized for the male students of the university where chancellor conferred to male graduates 44 PhD; 631 MS/MPhil; 1452 masters and 2179 bachelor degrees. In addition, 91 students who earned their degrees with distinction were awarded gold medals.

Mamnoon Hussain said that academic institutions like IIUI play vital role in the progress of the country and Government would continue taking measures for the promotion of education as easy access to education is top priority of the government. He urged for unity of Muslim Ummah while saying that Muslim countries would have to forge unity among their ranks and devise strategies to solve their problems. During the ceremony, while conferring the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Politics and International Relations Honoris Cousa to King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud of Saudi Arabia, Mamnoon Hussain said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have exemplary bilateral relations and it was source of immense pleasure to confer the degree on King Abdullah being Chancellor of the university.
While addressing the youth President said “Pursuit of knowledge is a continuous process and students must set their priorities to acquire knowledge and disseminate it to bring peace and prosperity in the country. While advising the students he said “You are going to enter in practical life but never forget to pay back the love and affection to your parents who faced hardships for your education”. He, while congratulating the students, hoped that graduates of IIUI would serve humanity and become a significant source of progress. He lauded the role of all 9 IIUI faculties and also appreciated that being a higher seat of learning IIUI is producing valuable professionals in fields of IT, Engineering and other science in a pure academic and multi cultural milieu for education. He said IIUI is not only serving Pakistan but Muslim world and other foreign countries which made it a reputed and truly international institution.
The ceremony was also addressed by the Pro Chancellor IIUI Dr. Sulaiman Ibn Abdullah Aba Al-Khail who said receiving degree from Mamnoon Hussain on the behalf of King Abdullah was an honor for him. He said IIUI is producing a generation which would pave the way to success of Muslim Ummah and cooperation at IIUI is the visible example of the bond of brotherly relations between KSA and Pakistan. He congratulated the students and hoped they would serve the Ummah with devotion.
Rector IIUI Dr. Massom Yasinzai and President IIUI also addressed the ceremony and felicitated the students. Later, bright minds were found excited on receiving gold medals and having photo session with President of Pakistan and university high ups.
It is pertinent to mention, convocation for female students would be held on Sunday in which Pro Chancellor IIUI Sulaiman Ibn Abdullah Aba Al-Khail would be the chief guest.

Dr. Aba Al-Khail said cooperation at IIIUI between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia is a visible example of strong brotherly relations. While felicitating the students he hoped IIUI’s students would be proved as precious asset of Ummah in future and they would work with commitment and devotion for the development of Muslim world. Addressing on the occasion Rector IIUI Prof Dr. Masoom Yasinzai thanked to the Chancellor/President of Pakistan for presiding over this dignified event, which opens up avenues of professional career in the lives of university students.
He said “Our thrust is now on making our mark in the field of science & technology and improving academic standards in the university.” Rector added that the university has become a major centre for higher education for female in Pakistan as a large number of parents want their daughters to get their education in the peaceful and secure environment of the IIU. Dr. Masoom extended his most sincere welcome to Chancellor, Excellency Mamnoon Hussain and Pro-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Suliman A. Aba Al-Khail and hoped that through their good offices the moral and financial support to IIU would continue.
In his address President IIUI, Prof Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al Draweesh briefed the participant about the university and threw light on upcoming plans and projects and said a prominent feature of this university is its international character, which is reflected in its faculty, students and international linkages. He apprised that the university has signed nearly 50 MOU’s with leading international organizations which reveals that this is in real sense an international seat of learning. International Islamic university is now recognized and considered a hub of academic excellence blending the traditional norms of education with technology driven modules. The university is fully recognized in the Muslim world as well in the global perspective as a centre of excellence in multi-dimensional spheres of knowledge. It is pertinent to mention, convocation for female students would be held on Sunday in which Pro Chancellor IIUI Sulaiman Ibn Abdullah Aba Al-Khail would be the chief guest.
IIUI 9th convocation on Saturday Nearly 9-thousand IIUI students to get degrees
International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) is going to hold its 9th convocation on Feb1-2; mega event will be graced by the President of Pakistan and Chancellor of the IIUI Mamnoon Hussain on the male day of convocation while Pro-Chancellor IIUI Dr. Sulaiman Ibn Abdullah Aba Al-Khail would be the chief guest of the female day of the convocation.
The degrees would be conferred on to 8922 graduates of the university who were passed out from the varsity after 2010. As many as 257 gold medalist and 57 PhD degrees would also be part of the convocation. 1169 male graduates will join the convocation ceremony while 2924 female students will also join the ceremony of the 9th mega event on separate day.
Out of 8922 student, 57 PhD students would be given degrees, 1035 M.Phil/MS students while 3539 masters and 4291 bachelor students be given degrees in convocation. IIUI will also confer an honorary degree on King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud on the occasion of its 9th convocation.
IIUI, keeping its distinction alive, has arranged a separate day for the female students on February 2 while male graduates will be awarded on Feb 1.
Committees devised for the arrangements of the mega event have completed their tasks and arrangements for the rehearsals of the convocation have been done. A large number of distinguished guests including ambassadors, high commissioners from various countries, prominent political personalities, judges and renowned figures from various aspects of life are expected to join the mega event of the university.
Meanwhile, Pro-Chancellor IIUI Dr. Sulaiman Ibn Abdullah Aba Al-Khail and members of the Saudi delegation from Imam Muhammad Bin Saud University arrived Islamabad to join the convocation on Friday Morning.
