IIUI purchases 3 More Busses for its students
Prof. Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman, Vice President (A F&P) of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) handed over the keys of 3 newly purchased buses to the Additional Director Transport of the university here on Thursday. Khalid Mehmood Raja, Director Administration, IIUI was also present on the occasion.

These buses are purchased to facilitate the students of the university and with this new addition to the fleet of IIUI buses the number of busses will be 63 which shall be proved very help full to pick and drop the students not only within the twin cities but suburbs of the twin cities.

IIUI: Examinations Starts Today
At the end of the Spring semester 2012 the examinations of all classes of the International Islamic University, Islamabad are beginning today (Friday) on June 01, 2012. The examinations shall remain continue till June 25, 2012.

IIUI: Dr. Nazrul Islam donates books to central library
Dr. Nazrul Islam, Professor of comparative religions & political Science have donated various books from his personal library including his own written book “Consolidating Asia Democracy” to the Central Library (CL) of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) here on Wednesday. Prof Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad, President IIUI, Mr. Sher Nouroze Khan, Chief Librarian, IIUI and other staff members of the central library attended the “Books Donation Ceremony”.

Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad said that it is not easy to be separated from anyone’s personal library books but Dr. Nazrul Islam has done a great job to donate books and I am sure that this will benefit the students of the university. He said that IIUI will always cherish the outstanding contribution of Dr. Nazrul Islam in the form of books. He further added that Dr. Nazrul Islam have great gesture of love and commitment towards his profession and students.

Dr. Nazrul Islam said that “I never considered teaching as a job but mission”. He said that a teacher should respond and remain available to the students round the clock to guide them regarding academic and research matters. He further said that once a teacher remain always a teacher because of the devotion and enthusiasm with this profession.

IIUI holds Painting exhibition
“Calligraphy is an important element of Islamic culture and civilization” it was said by Dr. N.B. Jumani, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) while addressing to the inaugural ceremony of the “Painting Exhibition” organized by the Department of Islamic Art & Architecture (Female Section) of the university here on Tuesday. Renowned calligrapher Mr. Rasheed But was the chief guest on the occasion. More than 80 art pieces created by students  on Islamic patterns and Islamic calligraphy, drawing work were put on display.

Dr Zaitoon Begum, Director Female Campus, IIUI, Dr Sadia Tahir, Student Advisor Female, Dr Seema Gull, Provost Female, Ms. Attia Abrar, In-charge Department of Islamic Art and Architecture and large number of female students also attended the exhibition.

Dr. N.B. Jumani appreciated the efforts of the female students to portray their creative work and said that the students should focus on calligraphy and painting because through this they can highlight their expressions regarding various phenomenon.

Dr Zaitoon Begum also appreciated the students work and motivated them to continue such activities and assured her full support to promote their work.

TEACHER PROFESSIONALISM: CODE OF ETHICS
Department of Education, Faculty of Social Sciences of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) arranged a seminar for the prospective Teachers on “Teacher Professionalism: Code of Ethics”. The seminar was organized to encourage students and to enhance their abilities in teacher profession with special reference to code of Ethics.

Muaazam Munnawar Sheikh, Principal of the City School and certified head Teacher Trainer by Punjab Education Foundation was the key note speaker on the occasion. Dr. Muaazam described the importance of professionalism and code of ethics in teaching profession.

Prof. Dr. N. B. Jumani addressed the students and faculty members by opening and concluding remarks and advised them to work hard and be committed towards their studies and profession.

Society can grow only with ethical values: Kaira
IIUI: 2-day Intl. workshop on “Everyday ethics and cultures of Adab”
“No society can grow without ethical values therefore the society should combine scientific development with ethical values”, it was said by Mr. Qamar Zaman Kaira, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting while addressing to concluding ceremony of 2-day International Workshop on “Being Muslim in the World: Everyday Ethics and Cultures of Adab”. The workshop was organized by Iqbal International Institute for Research & Dialogue (IRD) of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) in collaboration with Center for the Study of Religion and Conflict, Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona, USA and American Institute of Pakistan Studies (AITS).

Mr. Qamar Zaman Kaira was the chief guest on the occasion whereas Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, Rector IIUI, Dr. Nizam-ud-Din, Vice Chancellor University of Gujrat, Prof. Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad, President IIUI, Prof. Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman, Vice President IIUI and imminent intellectuals, scholars participated the workshop. A large number of IIUI faculty members, administrative officers and students also attended the concluding ceremony of the workshop.

Mr. Kaira said that we should promote the ethical values through rational arguments and the society. He said that although Islam stressed more on ethical values but the other religions are giving due importance to ethical values. Mr. Kaira appreciated the literal seminars and workshops organized by IIUI and the university performed remarkably in all aspects however we have our own identity and we should organize workshops other than political and economic problems of the society. Mr. Kaira further added that we should follow the scientific development of the west but to avoid to follow their civilization to maintain our own identity. He considered that public opinion is a strong parameter to control the power in the society.

Dr. Masoon Yasinzai thanked the Arizona State University for their assistance to organize such an informative workshop. Dr. Masoom said that the well taught ideas of the participants will help the students to recognize Islamic traditions and Adab. He added that today it is more important to spread message of Islamic Adab that Muslims do not hate any nation and civilization. He said that the life of our Prophet (PBUH) is a roll model for us and it should not be the monopoly of the Muslims to have the Seerah of Prophet (PBUH) but to spread it to the non-muslims. He said that we should work together to bring justice and tolerance in muslim societies. Upon the role of universities Dr. Masoom said that universities could educate peoples with knowledge and research across borders.

Earlier Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad in his welcomed address thanked the participants of the workshop and said that the participants have thoroughly discussed about the topic and shared their research findings. Dr. Mumtaz urged the social scientists to address such kind of workshops relates to ethics and other social issues.

Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman said that the society is more in threat from ethical crises rather than all kind of crises. He said that ethics of our holy prophet (PBUH) is beacon of light for human beings.

Dr. Khalid Masud over viewed the research papers represented by various scholars. He said that 8 research papers presented on the subject. He said that language reflects the ethics of community and ethics reflects the values of community.

Renowned scholars and intellectual who presented research papers are including Prof. CM Naim, Dr. M. Khalid Masud, Dr. Karim Crow, Yasimin Saikia, Chad hains and others.

WIFE OF AMBASSADOR OF SAUDI ARABIA VISITS IIUI

Faculty of Islamic Studies (Usuluddin), Female Campus of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) organized Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony at Female Campus of the University. Ms. Aljouhrah Al. Arifi, wife of Ambassador of Saudi Arabia in Pakistan was the chief guest on the occasion. Director Female Campus Dr. Zaitoon Begum, Chairperson Faculty of Islamic Studies, Ms. Noura Zouvai, Female Faculty Members and a large number of female students were also present on the occasion.
The ceremony was conducted to celebrate the best faculty award 2012 and to award the students with their certificates on their outstanding performances. It is the biggest and foremost goal of the Faculty of Islamic Studies that it initiates and encourages the students for their hard work and sincerity by all possible means. The students and faculty members are encouraged for good work in different fields and duly awarded for their bright accomplishments.
Ms. Aljouhrah Al. Arifi said that it’s an immense pleasure for her to be at IIUI. She further expressed her satisfaction over the performance of the Islamic University and said that IIUI is playing a constructive role in educating female in general and the international students in particular.
Speaking on the occasion Director Female Campus Dr. Zaitoon Begum said that prize distribution ceremony brings forward the ability of the university in public to keep instances of brilliance for others and encourage them for something alike.
At the end Ms. Aljouhrah Al. Arifi presented the souvenirs to Faculty members and students and congratulated them on their success.
Earlier Ms. Noura Zouvai welcomed the guests and briefed them about the objectives, functioning and achievements of the faculty.

IIUI: MOOT ON “EVERYDAY ETHICS AND CULTURES OF ADAB”
Iqbal International Institute for Research & Dialogue (IRD) of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) has organized 2-day International Conference on “Being Muslim in the World: Everyday Ethics and Cultures of Adab” in collaboration with Center for the Study of Religion and Conflict, Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona, USA at the University.
The concluding ceremony of the conference shall be held on May 24, 2012 at Quaid-e-Azam Auditorium, Faisal Masjid Campus of the university at 09:30 AM. Mr. Qamar Zaman Kaira, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting shall be the chief guest of the concluding ceremony while Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, Rector IIUI and Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad, President IIUI will also grace the occasion.

LAW GRADUATE SEMINAR BY FSL
Faculty of Shariah & Law of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) has arranged Law Graduate Seminar for the students of LLB, LLM and PhD. It was organized to encourage students and to enhance their abilities in research. It also reflects the experience of many researchers that writing something, and then presenting and responding to questions and engaging in debate about it, is a great way to learn and to consolidate and to develop learning . A theme “Pakistani Family System: Prospects and challenges” was given to students. Students from LLB, LLM and PhD presented their papers on different topics by focusing theme. Zainab Moin got 1st position, Syeda Mehmoona 2nd and Zainab Ibrahim and got 3rd position.

Ample Talent less Opportunities: Dr. A.Q Khan
“The youth of the nation should utilize their skills and knowledge for national interest”. It was said by renowned scientist and Mohsin-e-Pakistan Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan, while addressing to the seminar on “Role of Youth-to defend the Motherland” at the Quaid-e-Azam Auditorium of the Faisal Masjid Campus of the International Islamic University, Islamabad here on Tuesday. The seminar was organized by Class Representatives Council (CRs) of the International Islamic University Islamabad. Dr. Ghulam Yasin Chouhan, Dean Faculty of Engineering & Technology, IIUI, Dr. Safeer Awan , Students Advisor, (Male) IIUI and a large number of students attended the seminar. Dr. Safeer Awan, and student Tayyab Aziz also spoke at the seminar.

Dr. A.Q Khan said that the mother land have ample resources which need to be explore and flourish with facilities & opportunities. He urges the students to become Ambassador of their own culture and civilization, as we are rich in both. Dr. Khan was on the view that only the youth can save the deteriorated status of our society through education and rational decisions as they are more than 48 per cent registered voters. Upon the power crisis in the country, Dr. A.Q Khan added that we should reserve the rain water to utilize it for producing power, expanding fisheries and cultivating land to emphasize on our own production. He further added that students should take part in the politics but do not indulge in unproductive activities, they should respect the views of each other and incase of any difference in opinion they should not be violent. While talking on the role of the youth in the society, he said that the society should provide youth, an ample access to education to confine their thinking only towards knowledge and research. Mohsin-e Pakistan Dr. A.Q Khan further said that Pakistan have multiple resources which demands from the youth to come forward and honestly lead the nation to bring prosper in the country.

IIUI: BLOOD DONATION CAMP AT FEMALE CAMPUS
In order to save the lives of Thalassemic patients, Pakistan Thalassemia Welfare Society (Regd.) held a Blood Donation Camp at Female Campus, International Islamic University, Islamabad in collaboration with students of Centre of Media and Communication to sheathe the increasing demand of blood for deserving Thallassemic patients.

The Director Women Campus (IIUI) Dr. Zaitoon Begum Speaking on the occasion, she said that it is the moral and religious obligation of every Muslim to contribute in all possible ways to save precious lives of his or her brothers and sisters. He said that donation of blood is one of the most pious and virtuous deeds to alleviate the suffering of those in pain. The camp collected blood, which would be used to save lives of Thalassemic patients.

This non-governmental organization has been working in health sector since 1991. Every month PTWS donate blood to deserving patients specially Thalassemic patients, presently they have seventy hundred registered patient but collection of blood is not meeting the demand said the administration of society Blood was collected from healthy and voluntary blood donors who have the privilege of free testing against Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV/AIDS along with free blood grouping. The participation of female students in this camp was really admirable and it showed up their positive approach towards the welfare of poor patients. At the end of the day of this camp the people of PTWS were quite happy with the students and faculty member for their cooperation.

CRs Council of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) is organizing Seminar on “Difa-e-Watan Main Nojwano Ka Kirdar” on May 22, 2012 at Quaid-e-Azam Auditorium, Faisal Masjid Campus of the University on 10:30 AM. Renowned scientist Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan (Mohsin-e-Pakistan) shall be the key note speaker whereas Rector, President and Vice President, IIUI will also grace the occasion.

IIU starts admissions for Fall Semester
International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) has started admissions for the Fall Semester and applications for admissions can be submitted by 29th June, 2012. Details for admission tests are available on university website and no other letter would be issued to students in this regard, says a circular issued by university administration.

According to circular university has started its admissions in Faculties of Arabic, Basic and Applied Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Management Sciences, Islamic studies (Usuluddin), Language and Literature, Social Sciences, Shariah and Law and in the International Institute of Islamic economics.

Result awaiting students can also apply for bachelor and master’s programmes but they have to submit their degrees by 30th October, 2012. Admission would considered rejected of those students who would fail in any paper or not get required marks. Admission form can be obtained from the university new campus, sector H-10, branches of Habib bank, First Women bank and Allied bank in Islamabad and also can download the admission form the university website and after filling can be submitted at admission office IIU sector H-10 Islamabad, by post.

There are 9 teaching faculties, 39 departments and 130 degree programms. The university has enrolment of over 22 thousand students including 2200 doctorial and post-graduate students from more than 50 countries.

The university has a fleet of around 65 buses to provide transportation facility to male and female students separately all over Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Taxilla areas and also IIU has totally separate campuses for female and male students.

Workshop on “Training of Assessment Team of Academic Programs”
A workshop was organized by the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) at the central library of the new campus of the university here on Thursday. Air Cdre. Engineer Muhammad Ismail, Director Quality Assurance (QA), National University of Science and Technology (NUST) was a resource person of the workshop.

The workshop was presided by Prof. Dr. Sahibzada Sajid-Ur-Rehman, Acting President IIUI whereas Prof. Dr. Muhammad Riaz, Director QEC, IIUI and other faculty members of IIUI also attended the workshop.

Dr. Sajid-ur-Rehman said that after this workshop all assessment team members will be aware how to identify weaknesses in current academic programms. Dr. Sajid-ur-Rehman thanked Higher Education Commission (HEC) to excel the quality of education in the country. He appreciated the role of QEC to fill the gap between HEC Policies for the academic programs and IIUI Policy. He added that IIUI has started “QEC Allowance” of Rs. 2,000 monthly for all program team members of QEC.

Director QA, Nust Mr. Ismail discussed all the updated procedures of QA and role of assessment team in identifying issues in academic programmes offered at universities. He explained that now its a global change and we are not competing only in Pakistan but we will have to meet global challenges. He further added that without quality procedures, no progress can be shown by universities.

At the end Mr. Imran Ullah Khan Marwat, Assistant Director QEC, IIUI thanked all the participants for attending the workshop.

The Director General, International Institute of Islmic Economics (IIIE), International Islamic University in recognition of best

There will be a visible change in IIUI in the near future: Dr. Sulaiman Abdullah Abal-Khail
“Saudi Government wants that IIUI should be the source of knowledge with the combination of modern and ancient studies and for the achievement of this goal Saudi government is ready for every possible help” This was said by Dr. Sulaiman Abdullah Abal-Khail, Pro-Chancellor of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) in a reception which was organized in his honour at IIUI. Ambassador of Saudi Arabia in Pakistan Dr. Abdul Aziz Al-Ghadeer was also present on the occasion. Dr. Mohammad Masoom Yasinzai, Rector IIUI, Prof. Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman, President IIUI, Deans, Faculty members and administrative officers also attended the reception.

Dr. Sulaiman said that people of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia love each other because of Islam. He said that it is the time that the Muslims should coordinate and discuss various issues of mutual interest to work for the betterment of Muslim Ummah. He was please to know that shariah and modern education are taught at IIUI. Dr. Sulaiman also thanked the president of Pakistan for his appointment as Pro. Chancellor IIUI. Dr. Sulaiman said that universities are the hub of knowledge and intellectual. He further said that Islam is the religion of peace and harmony for everyone. He further added that everyone should share suggestions and opinions to improve the education system in IIUI. He also hoped that there will be visible change in IIUI in near future.

Dr. Masoom Yasinzai while talking to the media persons said that Pakistanis have more love and devotions to Saudi Arabia as compare to homeland. He said that knowledge and expertise of Dr. Sulaiman will contribute a lot for the development of IIUI. Dr. Yasinzai hoped that IIUI will achieve its objectives under the guidance and supervision of Dr. Sulaiman Abdullah.

Earlier Prof. Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman welcomed the delegation and briefed the university and its progress. He said that IIUI offered Islamic as well as modern educations. He said that we feel proud to say that IIUI was started at the Historical Faisal Masjid which is a gift from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the people of Pakistani. Upon the relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia Dr. Sajid said that Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have very strong friendly relations.

At the end Dr. Sulaiman Abdullah Abal-Khail presented souvenir to Dr. Masoom Yasinzai. Later the delegation visited various departments of the university and was briefed about the progress and future plans. Delegation offered Zuhar prayer at Faisal Masjid, Islamabad and also attended lunch which was organized by Dr. Masoom Yasinzai in honour of delegation.

Renowned Islamic Scholar of Malaysia Visits IIUI
“It is high time to clear wrong perceptions against Islam and Muslims”, this was stated by Al-Sheikh Al-Sayyed Affeefuddin Al-Gailani Baghdadi, renowned Islamic scholar of Malaysia, during his visit to the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) on Tuesday. He said that IIUI plays a great role in portraying true picture of Islam. He said that Pakistan is a precious gift of Allah for Muslim Ummah and he is very happy to visit Pakistan. He said it is our prime responsibilities to convey the message of Islam to human being and irradiate misunderstandings created about Islam by anti Islamic elements. He added that IIUI can play tremendous role in this regard.

Prof. Dr. Sajid ur Rehman acting president of IIUI lauded the religious services rendered by Al-Sheikh Al-Sayyed Affeefuddin and his forefather and said that Pakistanis are very fond of Sufia because Sufia has played vital role in spreading of Islam in these areas. He said Pakistan came into being on the basis of Islamic ideology and IIUI is promoting the same cause. He further added that Pakistani nation has great love for Muslim all over the world and every Pakistani feels the pain and sorrow of Muslims whenever they are in trouble.

Prof. Dr. Tahir Mansoori, Director General Faculty of Shariah briefed the distinguish guest about the university and its various departments.

At the end Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman presented the IIUI crests to the Al-Sheikh Al-Sayyed Affeefuddin and other members of delegation.

It is remarkable to note that Al-Sheikh Al-Sayyed Affeefuddin Al-Gailani hails from the family of famous Islamic saint Sheikh Abdul Qadir Gilani. Al-Sheikh Al-Sayyed Affeefuddin shifted to Malaysia from Iraq in 2008. Sheikh Gillani is viewed as a moderate scholar who is held in high esteem. He is a patron of Al-Wariseen Trust which raises and distributes funds to the programme relating to teachings and understanding of Islam, education and health sciences.

IIUI a Unique education Institution; Dr. Masoom Yasinzai
Acting Rector of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) and Vice Chancellor of the Quaid-e-Azam University (QUA), Islamabad Dr. Masoom Yasinzai said that International Islamic University, Islamabad is a unique institution which came into being under a philosophy that differentiate it from other universities of the country. He said that this university should integrate and give message to other universities to promote Islamic values not only within the country but all over the world. He was speaking at IIUI in a meeting with academic and administrative heads of various faculties and departments after his arrival in the university.

He said that keeping in view the philosophy of IIUI the graduates of this university should be different from those of others to portray Islamic culture and civilization. Dr. Yasinzai added that we should believe in “WE” instead of “I” to work together. And there should be our mission “ what I can do for you? ” instead “ what you did? ”.

Dr. Yasinzai urged that every one should accept the responsibility to support each other for the betterment of this university. About the teaching profession Dr. Yasinzai said that teachers are very important for the university and it is difficult to remunerate teacher for his / her services. He said that teaching is the second name of commitment to educate others, and advised them to think strategically and rationally. He further said that the faculty members should participate in strategic planning workshops to brought excel in their professional skills.

He showed deep concern over the prevailing situation of the social sciences in the universities and said that social sciences education is being neglected which increased social problems in the society and said that IIUI will focus on promotion of social sciences.

Earlier Prof. Fateh Muhammad Malik and Prof. Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman welcomed Dr. Masoom Yasinzai at IIUI and assured him all possible cooperation for the betterment of university.

SERIES OF SEMINARS BY FSS, IIUI
Dept. of Education of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) is going to hold a series of seminars on various topics. Dr. N.B. Jumani, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences will supervise the seminars whereas Dr. Azhar Mahmood, Lecturer Dept. of Education shall be the focal person. The seminars shall be held on every Monday of May-June, 2012. The topics which shall be discussed in the seminars are as under: –

International Moot on “Representation of Women in Media & Literature” started at IIUI
Two days international conference on ”Representation of Women in Media & Literature” started at the Quaid e Azam Auditorium of International Islamic University Islamabad here on Thursday. Renowned Professor Dr. Bob Jenson from the University of Texas, USA presents his Opening remarks about the topic via Skype. The conference is organized by the Critical Thinking Forum (CTF) IIUI in collaboration with Iqbal International Institute for Research & Dialogue (IRD) and Department of English, Fatima Jinnah Women University, Rawalpindi. Dr. Samina Amin Qadir, Vice Chancellor Fatima Jinnah Women University, Rawalpindi was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony, whereas Dr. Zaitoon Begum, Director female campus, IIUI, Dr. Munazza Yaqoob, Head Department of English IIUI and a large number of students attended the first day of the conference.

Dr. Bob Jenson said that most men considered feminism as threat to them but in fact feminism is gift to men. He said that during my 25 years work on feminism and women it is observed that man is exploiting women in every society. He has suggested that every society should ensure easy access for the women to the media & literature. Dr. Bob lauded the efforts of gender justice in the societies. He also highlighted the periodical feminism and considered that gender injustice is threatening challenge to naturalize hierarchy.

Dr. Samina Qadir said that media reflect culture of the society and women is an integral part of our society. She was on the view that both media & literature contribute more to the development of the society. She said that there is need to change the current scenario and to empower women in decision making. On the contribution of women to society, Dr. Samina said that women contribution as mother, daughter, wife and sister is so vital to all the societies of the world. She added that there is need to look beyond traditional values to give women extensive access to media to highlight gender values. She further added that women should offer more opportunities to lead and work to contribute to the society. Dr Samina said that most literature shows women confined to their limited status & position which should be improved with the help of media.

Earlier, Dr. Zaitoon Begum welcomed the participants to the conference and said that women rights are indispensable for the development of society. She said that Islam is the most modern religion for all times and could not be linked out of modernization.

Various research papers were presented on the topic during the first day of the conference by Dr. Munazza Yaqoob, Sofia Hussain, Katrina Hussain, Susie Abdou, Jennifer Lee, Maria Kari, Junaid Ahmad, Dr. Humaira Ahmad and Farida Hafeez.

The second day of this conference will be at the Fatima Jinnah Women University, Rawalpindi tomorrow.

IIUI: Intl. Conference on “Representation on Women in Media & Literature”

The concluding ceremony of the said conference will be held at New Auditorium of the Fatima Jinnah University, Rawalpindi on May 11, 2012. Dr. Bob Jenson, Prof. of Journalism, University of Texas at Austin, Suzie Abdou, Director of Global Programs, Women’s Voices Now, USA, Jennifer Lee, California State Director, USA, Asma Kazmi Artist and Lecturer, Kansas City Art, Institute, USA shall speak on the topic while Prof. Fateh Muhammad Malik, Rector IIUI and Dr. Samina Qadir, Vice Chancellor FJWU will addressed on the occasion.

 

 

 

 

3rd Open House at IIUI
My real achievement is the Honor entrusted from the people: Dr. A. Q Khan
There is no alternate to honour and the honour entrusted to me from the people of Pakistan is my real asset. This was said by the renowned scientist Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan while addressing to the inaugural ceremonies of the 3rd Open House at male & female campuses of the International Islamic University, Islamabad, organized by the Faculty of Engineering & Technology (FET) of the University. Beside others Dr. Zaitoon Begum, Director Female Campus, Dr. Ghulam Yasin Chohan, Dean FET, IIUI, Ms Saba Hameed, Head of Deptt FET, IIU and a large number of students were also present on the occasion. Earlier the teachers and students of IIUI warmly welcomed the honourable guest.

Referring towards the importance of Quran, Dr. Khan urged the students to recite the Holy Quran with translation daily to open the hearts and to discover the secrets of the universe. It will also strengthen the Eman. He advised the students to work hard and bring excel in their careers as well as to contribute towards the prosperity of the country. He further added that despite I spent 15 years in Europe with good remuneration I preferred to come back to my own country with low salary to contribute to the development of my beloved homeland. Dr. Khan said that our history portrays great stories of successful Muslim scientists but the western culture hits the Muslim culture to keep us away from remembering and discussing Muslim history and culture. He invited the students to spare some time for the study of Islamic history. He further said that Pakistan has achieved ample successes in the field of atomic weapons but unfortunately we have ignored the developments in both industrial & economic fields, which are indispensable for the growth of the society.

Prof Fateh Muhammad Malik, Rector IIUI, paid rich tributes to the services of Dr. A. Q. Khan rendering for the Pakistan and Muslim Ummah and said that his personality is not only a matter of pride for Pakistan but he is also a symbol of identity and proud for the whole Muslim Ummah. He said that after the atomic explosions by Pakistan, a Palestinian Columnist wrote that “Today the Muslims have stood with the western in the field of scientific developments which were being looked far away from them earlier”. Prof. Malik also appreciated Dr. Khan’s literal interest by telling that the science relates to imagination which could be enhanced with literal vision.

Dr. Ghulam Yasin, welcomed the distinguished guest by saying that Dr. Khan is not only a great scientist and engineer but also a good teacher. The Open House remained open till 4.00 pm. Numerous industrial and commercial stalls were arranged where students exhibited their Research & Development projects.

Mushaira in memory of Iqbal
Prof. Fateh Muhammad Malik, Rector of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) has said that Iqbal has advised us to learn Arabic therefore, in order to enhance the effectiveness of the poetry, Urdu Poets should follow the instructions of great Iqbal. He was speaking in a Mushaira arranged by Urdu Department of IIUI under titled “Ba-yad-e-Iqbal”. He said hundred years ago Iqbal advise Urdu poets to learn Arabic and study Arabic literature to equip with Arabic thoughts and familiar with Arabic culture and literature but its a matter of sorrow that our poets did not respond to the said advice of Iqbal till date and most of the poets are not familiar with Arabic.

He said that mystic poetry is an effective source of Islamic preaching therefore our poets should give full attention towards this poetry and create such a poetry which can prove helpful in propagation of Islamic values and thoughts.

Prof. Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman, Vice President IIUI has said that Iqbal has given us the ideology of Pakistan. He enlightened our minds with the ideology of self. He said that Iqbal is the thinker who awoke the Muslims of sub-continent to struggle for independence. He said that if we want to come out of the present situation we will have to look forward, Iqbal for proper guidance.

Renowned poet of the country Iftikhar Arif was the chief guest, Prof. Dr. Khurshid Rizvi was participating as Meer-e-Mehfil while Sajjad Babar was the guest of honour on the occasion. Dr. Sadia Tahir, Chairperson Dept. of Urdu IIUI and Student Advisor (Female) was the host of the Mushaira.

Jalil Aali, Nazir Tabassum, Ehsan Akbar, Touseef Tabassum, Rawish Nadeem, Arshad Meraj, Noreen Talat Arooba, Dur-e-Shehwar Feroz, Per To Roheela, Muhammad Naseer Ehsan, Rashid Salim including other poets participated in the Mushaira. Raja Khalid Mehmood, Director Administration, IIUI, Dr. Safeer Awan, Student Advisor (Male) and a large number of male and female students also attended the ceremony.

At the end Prof. Fateh Muhammad Malik and Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman presented university crests to distinguish guests and organizers of the event.

IIUI to hold 03rd open house on May 03rd, 2012
Faculty of Engineering & Technology (FET) of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) is organizing 03rd Open House on May 03, 2012, at 10:00 AM at New Campus of the university. Activities of 03rd Open House will remain continue till 04:00 PM in both male and female campuses of the university. This event including R&D Projects and Technology displays, industrial and commercial stalls, opportunity to meet experts from industry & academia and talent hunt.

IIUI Faculty Member presented a Research Paper on “Pakhtuns Nationalist Politics in Pakistan” in an Intl. Conference
Safi Ullah Khan Marwat, Lecturer/PhD Scholar, Department of History & Pakistan Studies Faculty of Social Sciences, International Islamic University, Islamabad presented a research paper titled as “Pakhtuns’ Nationalist Politics in Pakistan: A Journey from Pakhtunistan to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa” in an International Conference titled as “Emerging Issues in Social Sciences” arranged by the Department of History, QAU, Islamabad in collaboration with HEC, Islamabad on April 27-29, 2012.

IIUI to hold Panel Discussion on “Problematics of Qur’anic Translations in the Sub-Continent”
Department of Translation and Interpretation, Faculty of Arabic, Islamic Research Institute (IRI) and Department of Tafsir and Qur’anic Sciences, Faculty of Islamic Studies of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) are jointly holding a panel discussion on “Problematics of Qur’anic Translations in the Sub-Continent” on (Wednesday) May 02, 2012 at 11:30 AM at Seminar Room of the Central Library, New Campus, Sector H-10, Islamabad. Prof. Fateh Muhammad Malik, Rector IIUI shall be the chief guest on the occasion while Dr. Muhammad Khalid Masood, Director General Islamic Research Institute, IIU, Dr. Muhammad Al-Ghazali and Dr. Muhammad Makhlof, Dean Faculty of Arabic, IIUI shall be the key participants in the panel discussion.
