IIUI PRESIDENT CALLS ON EDUCATION MINISTER

President, International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) H.E. Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, Monday, called on Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Madad Ali Sindhi and congratulated him on his appointment.

During the meeting, issues of mutual interests including initiatives for promotion of quality education and role of universities in discouraging extremism were discussed.  The meeting was also attended by Vice President Administration and Finance Dr. N.B. Jumani.

Honorable Minister, while appreciating the role of IIUI in society building and services, assured of maximum support to IIUI. He opined that universities can play vital role in curbing the extremism.  He desired that the IIUI being the best platform should hold a conference on the life of Holy Prophet (PBUH). The IIUI President said that university will be soon scheduling this conference in cooperation with the ministry. He also apprised that the university will hold another conference on Shariah that will be attended by Imam e Kaaba.  He added that another conference of the league of Islamic universities to be organized by IIUI is in the pipeline that will be attended Muslim World League chief.

Talking about the relations of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan , the Minister said that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia share a remarkable brethren history. He added that brotherly ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are getting stronger by every passing day.  He said Arabic is the language that is one of the most expressive and rich languages. He also praised the vision of Govt of Saudi Arabia saying that contributions of His Majesty King Salman bin Abdul Aziz and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed Bin Salman for dissemination of peace are laudable.  He said that His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman is a great leader of Muslim world with a unique vision. The Minister also appreciated the role of the university leadership in its progress. He also appreciated the IIUI President for making IIUI a peaceful true educational institution where officials and students have prime focus on education.

On the topic of the promotion of Arabic language, the IIUI President told the Minister that university will be happy to expand its Arabic language courses for non-native speakers and it will be keen to expand its bilateral ties across the country with rest of the universities through its international level Arabic faculty. He apprised that university is focusing on preparing a skilled youth equipped with the knowledge of latest market trends. He also apprised of the university’s initiatives towards digitization, distance learning and utilization of modern technology for the students facilitation. IIUI President also briefed the Education Minister on IIUI’s vision, future plans and strategy for academic excellence.

IIUI President vowed that he will be in the leading ranks to seek guidance and extending cooperation with the ministry as per aspirations of the Minister for improvements in higher education. H.E. Dr. Hathal told that the university in previous three years has made a meaningful advancement in rankings.  The IIUI President also invited the Education Minister to visit the university which he accepted and showed satisfaction on the ongoing progress of the university.
