IIUI PRESIDENT ADDRESSES ON PAIGHAM E PAKISTAN AT UoG

President, International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI), Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh presided a closing ceremony of a workshop titled “Reconstructing the Pakistani Islamic Society in the Light of the Paigham e Pakistan” at Islamic Research Center at the University of Gujrat (UoG).

The workshop was joint venture in cooperation with Department of Islamic Studies, University of Gujrat.

The ceremony was also attended Prof. Dr. Ziaa Al-Qayyum, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Zia Al-Haq, Director General of the Islamic Research Academy and a number of professors at the University of Gujrat.

At the beginning of the ceremony, Dr. Mohammed Zia Al Haq presented a brief summary of the workshop’s activities and objectives. He said that Pakistan’s mission is an important document agreed upon by scholars of various religious groups. It was announced at the presidential palace in the presence of former president, which dealt with the problem of extremism and religious extremism.

The workshop was organized by a group of scholars, imams and faculty members, and thanked His Excellency the President of the University for his And thanked Dr. Zia Al-Qayyoum for hosting the workshop.

Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh thanked Dr. Ziaa Al-Qayyum, and Prof. Dr. Mohammad Zia Al-Haq, for holding this workshop. He added that Pakistan is proud of Muslim world and thousands sacrifices for its creation will never be forgotten.

He urged for spreading peace and love in the society so that sectarianism and terrorism and other negative attitudes be discouraged. He said Islam is religion of peace and scholars have a vital role in construction of the society. He also highlighted Paigham e Pakistan, its creation, dissemination and its appreciation in the country and across the world.

On the sidelines of this visit, draft of a memorandum of understanding was also discussed between International Islamic University in Islamabad and the University of Gujrat which aims at building bridges of cooperation between the two sides in their fields of interest and enhancing scientific cooperation and exchange of knowledge. Both sides agreed for joint academic and research programs and projects.
