International Islamic university, Islamabad (IIUI) marked world teachers ‘day by holding a walk at its female campus and honoring five teachers with gold medals in separate ceremony at new campus.
A ceremony to mark the day was held at new campus which was attended by renowned scholar Dr. Ijaz Shafi Gilani , Rector IIUI, Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, President IIUI, Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh , university vice presidents, director female campus, student’s advisor male, deans, director and a large number of teachers.
There is a need to revive the strong relationship of teacher and student, said Mr. Gilani in his speech. He said that Islamic system of teaching is distinctive as it focuses on humanity, while rest, he said focus on economic aspects. He maintained that universities had a crucial role in establishing balanced societies.
“There is a dire need of a linked cooperation among Government, society and universities because this link is a road to success” said Dr. Masoom. He added that societies have great expectations to the universities and education must be the top priority of ours as it is the ultimate solution to the contemporary problems. IIUI Rector furthered that 56 million youth , if utilized positively, can pave the way to progress and prosperity.
Dr. Al-Draiweesh said in his speech that it was a historical day as it was dedicated to the builders of the society. He said that teaching, academic fraternity is most vital one when it comes to the importance of occupations. He hailed the IIUI teaching community for untiring efforts and said that it did deliver best up to the expectations of society. He vowed that IIUI, through its teachers would keep providing quality education integrated with teachings of Islam.
On the occasion, 5 teachers were awarded with gold medals in the ceremony who included Dr. Kausar Khwaja Khwaja of Faculty of Management Sciences, Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed of Faculty of Basic and applied sciences, Dr. Hazir ullah of faculty of social sciences, Dr. Umar Javed of Faculty of Engineering and Technology and Dr, Rooh ul Amin of Faculty of Usuldin.
Earlier, the Female Campus of International Islamic University arranged a walk for the celebration of World Teacher’s Day along with an objective to highlight the important contribution of teachers to the societal wellbeing.
The director of the IIU Female Campus, Dr. Farkhanda Zia, led the walk in which large number of faculty member as well as the students participated.
