International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) organized best university driver awards ceremony for the years 2015-16, where the winner transport officials were awarded with cash prizes and certificates.
A total of 4 drivers of HTV and LTV categories for two years were chosen on the basis of their conduct, attitude, punctuality, vigilance, driving performance and other relevant attributes by a committee.
In the 2015 HTV category Muhammad Ishaq grabbed the award, while in LTV, Ghulam Qadir, an ambulance driver, shined. For 2016 , Sard ali in HTV category and driver M sidique in LTV category were announced as best drivers. The event was conducted by the Central Transport Unit of the university.
IIUI President Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, who presided over the ceremony, announced that next time university will award titles and prizes to 6 drivers in various categories. He lauded CTU and said that drivers are one of the most responsible officials at the university and this unit plays a central role in execution of varsity’s number of activities.
He said he was happy to see punctuality, vigilance and sense of responsibility in transportation at CTU. He stressed that commitment to the university must be a top priority of all. IIUI President furthered that the award ceremony is an omen of recognition of the services of the transport fraternity. Dr. Al-Draiweesh said that IIUI’s largest fleet is a source of the introduction of the university in twin cities and outskirts and drivers are disseminating message of peace and serenity in the society through this fleet.
Dr. Muhammad Munir, suggested in his speech that employee of the month award should also be launched at university as it will enhance the performance and will be a source of appreciation for hardworking people at varsity. He felicitated the winners and assured of maximum cooperation to CTU.
Speaking on the occasion, Khalid Mehmood Raja hailed IIUI President for approving increase in Prize money and told that soon the CTU officials of the university would be given an increment after completion of official procedures. He urged the drivers to remain committed to the assigned duties and assured of maximum cooperation in legitimate demands.
Earlier, Assistant Director, CTU Jahanzeb Waqas who organized the awards ceremony apprised about the unit and new steps for making it more valuable and efficient.
The event was also attended by Students Advisor Dr. Tariq Javed, Additional Students Advisor Dr. Abdul Qadir Haroon, officers of the department and former CTU heads officers of the central transport unit, Drivers and conductors.
