IIUI FSS: TRAINING SESSIONS ON “INSTRUCTIONAL LEARNING OUTCOMES AND ASSESSMENT IN CLASSROOM”

Faculty of Social Sciences, FSS International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) organized a 02 day workshop on “Instructional Learning Outcomes and Assessment in the Classroom according to Bloom’s Taxonomy”. Training sessions in this workshop were part of the initiative taken by the leadership of the University for the Capacity building of university teachers in form of Faculty vise series of trainings. The first of its series was held for the faculty members of Faculty of Management Sciences FMS, IIUI and second of its series was for Faculty of Social Sciences, FSS, IIUI. The major themes of the workshop includes: Bloom’s Taxonomy; writing instructional learning outcomes; aligning classroom activities with ILO’s and assessing student mastery of learning outcomes and linking assessment with objectives the professional development is the need of the hour and continuous teacher training /enhancing capacity building is necessary for teachers to equip themselves & cater seamlessly for the 21st century learners.

Addressing to the workshop participants, Prof. Dr. Samina Malik, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences highlighted challenges of nation with respect to educational system, the needs of society for enhancing quality and demands of education. She emphasized on the inputs and interventions needed to boost up overall capacities of professional teachers who are playing a vital role for nation building. Dr. Samina also appreciated faculty members for their active participation in workshop and urged to utilize skills, learned during the workshop for providing quality teaching to the students as such workshops are vital for acquiring professional skills for teachers.

For the training of male faculty members Dr. Muhammad Munir Kayani, Chairman Department of Education (Male) and Dr. Azhar Mehmood conducted sessions, while Dr. Shamsa Aziz, Chairperson Department of Education (Female) and Ms. Alina Raza were the resource persons of the workshop for female faculty members. During the workshop a large number of faculty members from faculty of social sciences took part in detailed discussions, demonstrated great interest during the training sessions, participant enthusiastically in practical activities, discussions and presentations.
