A group of students from the Department of Bioinformatics at the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI), recently embarked on a visit to the Pakistan Institute of Parliamentary Services (PIPS). The visit, organized by the “One Step for Pakistan” team, aimed to explore potential collaborations between PIPS and the Department of Bioinformatics of the International Islamic University Islamabad fostering innovation and advancement in parliamentary services.
The students had the privilege of interacting with key personnel at PIPS, including Mr. Haider Abbas, Director General of Finance, and Ms. Tehseen Khalid, Director of Research. The meetings provided valuable insights into the ongoing projects and research initiatives at PIPS, highlighting the importance of evidence-based policymaking and interdisciplinary collaborations in the legislative process.
Dr. Mehrosh Khalid, Chairperson of the Department of Bioinformatics, engaged in a productive discussion with Mr. Haider Abbas, emphasizing the significance of collaboration between PIPS and the Department of Bioinformatics. The visit facilitated an exchange of expertise, allowing both parties to explore potential areas of cooperation. On this occasion Dr. Mehrosh Khalid said that the aim of this visit is also for strengthening collaboration with the Pakistan Institute of Parliamentary Services and the Department of Bioinformatics, IIUI.
During their visit, the students were given a guided tour of the various sections of PIPS. They had the opportunity to explore the well-equipped library, which houses an extensive collection of parliamentary literature and resources. Additionally, they familiarized themselves with the auditorium, where sessions and workshops are conducted at PIPS, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the institute’s facilities and infrastructure.
The visit concluded with a certificate and shield distribution ceremony, acknowledging the active participation of the students and expressing gratitude for their visit. Certificates were awarded to the students in recognition of their engagement in parliamentary affairs, while shields were presented to Mr. Haider Abbas and Mr. Asrar Ahmed Shaheen, Senior Auditor AGPR, as a token of appreciation for their collaborative efforts.
