The Department of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Basic & Applied Sciences, FBAS, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) organized a seminar titled “From Research to patents: Impact on innovation and knowledge transfer” at Fatimah block auditorium Female campus. The main objective of this seminar was to enlighten the students that why research should care about patents, the steps in drafting a patent and how to obtain a patent.
Dr Khurram S Joya, an active Researcher, Scientist, Mentor, Innovator was the honorable speaker of this seminar. He discussed about Molecular and Functional Nanoscale Materials, Photo-Electrocatalysis, Electrochemical Sensors, Biomass Conversion and Dye-Solar Cells. He also motivated the students by saying that increase your problems in order to find a solution. Dr. Joya holds multiple faculty positions at Chemistry Department, UET-Lahore and at Chemistry Department, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Sobia Tabasum, Chairperson Department of Biological Sciences also addressed the students on the occasion. The seminar was also attended by faculty members of the department, Dr. Bushra Uzair, Dr. Nyla Jabeen, Dr. Naveeda Riaz and Ms Sadaf Anwar. At the end university crest was presented to guest speaker and certificates of participation were awarded among participants.
