SEMINAR ON “STRESS MANAGEMENT AT UNIVERSITY LEVEL” ORGANIZED BY DEPARTMENT OF TEACHER EDUCATION
In today’s fast-paced world, managing stress is crucial for maintaining mental health and overall well-being. Keeping in view the changing landscape of academic needs and expectations from students, Department of Teacher Education (DoTE) organized a thought provoking seminar titled “Stress Management at University Level” on 18th December 2024 at the Dar ul Muneera Auditorium, Female Campus IIUI. Guest speaker for the seminar was Dr. Nazia Iqbal, Chairperson, Department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences, IIUI.
The focal persons of this seminar were Dr. Humaira Akram, Assistant Professor DoTE, and Ms. Bushra Rahman Teaching/Research Associate DoTE. Key organizers of this seminar included female students of B.Ed Elementary Education and BS Education (English Language Teaching) 1st semester.
Dr. Nazia Iqbal delivered an insightful lecture regarding stress management and also engaged the audience in relaxation techniques for reducing stress. She also elaborated various types of stressors confronted by the university students. Being unorganized or engaging in poor planning often leads to frustration or crisis situations, which always leads to feeling stressed, she added. Moreover, she discussed about physical, emotional/psychological and behavioral signs of stress. While discussing coping strategies, Dr. Nazia Iqbal emphasized on time and task management, setting practical goals for dealing with situations and solving problems, exercising regularly to relieve some symptoms of depression and stress in order to maintain health. In addition to this, she sensitized the students about the significance of deep breathing, yoga, meditation, visualization and muscle relaxation exercises for stress management.
Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, Assistant Professor/Incharge Programs DoTE highlighted stress management in Islamic perspective. He discussed that Islamic teachings offer valuable insights into stress management, emphasis on trust in Allah, patience, prayer, and balance to overcome problems in life. As Muslims, we have access to guidance from our faith that can help us manage stress and maintain a sense of inner peace and wellbeing, Dr. Zafar said.

He also paid the vote of thanks to the organizers and focal persons for organizing such an informative event. Moreover, he discussed the importance of study techniques, self-management and time management techniques for managing exam stress. Dr. Kayani evoked audience that by incorporating strategies such as prayer, gratitude, Quran & Sunnah teachings and trusting in Allah, we can reduce our stress levels and improve our overall quality of life.
Question answer and experience sharing session was also conducted featuring active participation of students. At the end, Chairperson DoTE, Dr. Kayani and Incharge Academic Affairs, DoTE Dr. Alina Raza presented souvenir to the guest speaker.

ICDEEL-2024 Concludes with Insightful Discussions and Renewed Commitments
The Department of Teacher Education, Faculty of Education, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan, successfully organized the 4th International Conference on Distance Education and E-Learning (ICDEEL-2024) from December 10-11, 2024, at the Allama Iqbal Auditorium, Faisal Mosque Campus, IIUI. This two-day event brought together national and international experts, researchers, and academicians to address the evolving challenges and opportunities in the field of distance education and e-learning.
The conference featured impressive speeches by of national and international keynote speakers who addressed diverse topics: Prof. Rui Li (Bradley University, USA): Future of Distance Education in US Universities – Needs and Challenge, Dr. Katia Lankova (Higher College of Technology, UAE): Distance Education in European Universities – Problems and Issue, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Shahid Farooq (Punjab University, Lahore): Distance Learning – Current Status and Future Directions, Ms. Mechthild Geyer (Minhaj University, Lahore): The Transformative Potential of E-learning in Women’s Empowerment, Prof. Dr. Imran Yousaf (PMAS Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi): Effectiveness of Online Distance Learning in Pakistan – Problems and Prospects, Prof. Dr. Hafiz Inam Ullah (University of Peshawar): Effectiveness of Distance Learning on Learner Performance – A Literature Review and Prof. Dr. S. M. Mohamed Ismail (South Eastern University, Sri Lanka): The Need and Importance of Distance Education in Sri Lanka.
The conference included around 70 parallel paper presentation sessions on themes such as blended learning, e-learning strategies, and the future of distance education. These sessions provided a platform for researchers to share their findings and discuss strategies for overcoming challenges in the field.
The conference concluded with a vibrant closing ceremony. Mr. Aftab Muhammad Khan, Secretary General of the Pakistan National Commission for UNESCO and Chief Guest, emphasized the importance of collaborative endeavors in addressing global educational challenges. He appreciated the role of Department of Teacher Education, IIUI in materializing the conference. He briefed about UNESCO and its important function in aligning the national policies with international contexts. He stressed UNESCO’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote equitable access to quality education, particularly through technology. He stressed utilizing online learning mode in context of Pakistan in empowering the masses to be respectable part of society. He stressed the recommendations of the conference to be implemented as much as possible.
Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, Incharge Programs, Department of Teacher Education (DoTE), IIUI, presented a comprehensive report and recommendations of the conference. These insights encapsulated the key findings from the sessions, offering actionable strategies for enhancing distance education and e-learning in developing nations, devising global E-Learning Policy, bridging technology and gender related gaps. He shared key points including E-Learning: Empowering Women, Launching E-courses, Method of content dissemination, Rapid learning through the application of ICT, Digital Literacy and Skills Development, Flexible Learning Options, missed Opportunities for Skill Development and dealing with dropout risks.
In his vote of thanks, Dr. Muhammad Munir Kayani, Conference Chair and Chairperson Department of Teacher Education, Faculty of Education, IIUI, expressed gratitude to all participants and speakers for making 4th ICDEEL-2024 a resounding success. He acknowledged the tireless efforts of Dr Muhammad Nasir Khan conference secretary. He mentioned the strength of the committee members in materializing the conference. 4th International Conference on Distance Education and E-Learning (ICDEEL-2024) Commences at IIUI
The Department of Teacher Education, Faculty of Education, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan, inaugurated the 4th International Conference on Distance Education and E-Learning (ICDEEL-2024) at the Allama Iqbal Auditorium, Faisal Mosque Campus, IIUI. This two-day conference being held from December 10-11, 2024, brings together national and international experts, researchers, and academicians to address emerging challenges and opportunities in distance education and e-learning.
During the opening ceremony Dr. Muhammad Munir Kayani, Conference Chair and Chairperson Department of Teacher Education, warmly welcomed participants, highlighting the importance of exploring innovative strategies for enhancing distance education and e-learning, especially in developing countries. He discussed about digital divide in detail. He mentioned that this is 4th conference (2016, 2018, 2020 and now 2024).
Dr. Zarina Akhtar elaborated on the scope of the conference, emphasizing its role as a platform to bridge gaps in the objectives and outcomes of universities, particularly in distance education. Dr. Muhammad Shahid Soroya, Director General Pakistan Institute of Education was the guest of honour and he mentioned brief aspects PIE is working on including assessment and policy matters. He mentioned that the assessment results of students are alarming and that call for the action regarding teacher education.
Prof. Dr. Uzaira Rafique, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Fatima Jinnah Women University, Rawalpindi addressed the audience as Guests of Honor and mentioned that the mode doesn’t matter, the learning should occur. She discussed Technological Trends and E-Learning setup and discussed many start up ideas.
Prof. Dr. Ahmad Shuja Syed, President of IIUI appreciated the organizers in organizing the conference as a series. He stressed that there is no more distance and eLearning separately and conventional education is substantiated with these modes. He stressed the need of focusing on out of school children. He stressed the active role of Department of Teacher Education in preparing teachers according to changing demands of education. Participants will also engage in parallel paper presentation sessions and discussions addressing conference themes, including blended learning, e-learning strategies, and the future of distance education.
Department of Teacher Education Organized 1st Roundtable Panel Discussion (University Graduates and Sustainable Development 2024).
1st Roundtable Panel Discussion, “University Graduates and Sustainable Development Goals” was organized by the Department of Teacher Education, Faculty of Education, IIUI on December 12, 2024. The roundtable parallel sessions were held simultaneously at male and female campuses. The major focus of the discussion was exploring and discussing the practical role of university graduates in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event was chaired by Dr. Muhammad Munir Kayani, Chairperson, Department of Teacher Education, IIUI. The roundtable discussion was organized by Dr. Muhammad Nasir Khan, Assistant Professor, Department of Teacher Education, IIUI. Dr. Abdul Rahman Saad Alaljan, Associate Professor, Department of Educational Leadership and Management, Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, Assistant Professor, Department of Teacher Education, Dr. Zarina Akhtar, Assistant Professor, Department of Teacher Education were the keynote speakers. The sessions provided a platform to the scholars to engage in thought-provoking discussions and explore innovative solutions to achieve Sustainable Development Goals.
Dr. Ghufran Ahmad, Director, Directorate of Student Affairs, IIUI was the guest of honor in the program. Dr. Ghufran Ahmad highlighted the need and importance of Sustainable Development Goals in global context. Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal elaborated the sustainable development in the regional and global perspectives, and suggested a way forward to achieve SDGs. Dr. Zarina Akhtar described the needs for curriculum reforms to achieve SDGs. Dr. Abdur Rahman Saad Alaljan highlighted the role of higher education institutions for Social Wellbeing of Youth. Dr. Muhamad Munir Kayani, briefed about the role of youth & sustainable development goals. Dr. Muhammad Nasir Khan discussed the role of United Nations in achieving SDGs in global context. There was successful question answer sessions. Dr. Fouzia Ajmal, Dr. Alina Raza, Dr. Fatima Alvi and Dr. Humaira Akram, Assistant Professors, Department of Teacher Education, IIUI supported in organizing the event.

Seminar Titled “Fostering Social Responsibilities among Students”
On November 19, the Department of Teacher Education (DoTE) organized an insightful seminar titled “Fostering Social Responsibilities among Students” at Auditorium, Dar ul Munira Block, Female Campus, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI). Dr. Muhammad Munir Kayani, Chairperson, DoTE, endorsed this event by stating that it is very important to arrange a seminar for students on the theme of “Fostering Social Responsibilities among Students” as it will play contributive role in sensitizing students about their social responsibilities and enabling them to learn strategies to fulfill these responsibilities in an effective way. The focal person of this seminar was Dr. Fatima Batool, Assistant Professor, DoTE. Guest speaker for the seminar was Dr. Rabia Ali, Associate Professor/ Incharge (Male/Female Programs), Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social Sciences, International Islamic University Islamabad.
Along with faculty members of DoTE; Dr. Faryal Umbreen, (Incharge Dawah Center, IIUI) and Dr. Noreen Saher, Associate Professor, Department of Anthropology also graced this event with their presence. Key organizers of this seminar were students of BS Education with Information Technology and BS Education with English Language Teaching. The seminar began with recitation from the Holy Quran followed by National Anthem. After it, brief Introduction of Dr. Rabia Ali was given by Ms. Aqsa Khalid (from BS Education IT) and she was invited to share her valuable insights on topic “Fostering Social Responsibilities among Students”.
Dr. Rabia Ali delivered a thought provoking lecture on social responsibilities and also engaged the audiences in good discussion. She emphasized that students must practice the values of respect, empathy, tolerance, and gratitude in their daily life. They are required to be conscious, ethical and productive member of society and for that they may get engaged in volunteer community services. They must be trained to be good problem solver and value diversity in educational institutions and society. They must help their fellows to understand complex educational concepts and contribute to humanitarian efforts. She encouraged students to identify their own feelings, strengths and challenges to become productive citizens of country. She stressed that fostering social responsibility must be key element of our education system as training of students in this regard can prove very beneficial for our society.
As volunteer speakers, Dr. Faryal Umbreen, Dr. Noreen Saher, and Dr. Zarina Akhtar gave their valuable insights about the need and importance of conducting inter-departmental activities and taking initiatives to foster social responsibilities among students. They further stated that with academic development of students we should pay equal attention towards social and holistic personality development of students. After it, Incharge, DoTE Dr. Alina Raza was invited for vote of thanks to guest speaker, faculty members, and audiences. At the end, Incharge, DoTE Dr. Alina Raza and Dr. Zarina Akhtar presented token of appreciation to guest speaker and certificate of appreciation to focal person for their valuable contributions in seminar. This seminar served as key initiative to sensitize students about their social responsibilities and familiarizing them with strategies to perform these responsibilities diligently.
Energy Conservation Awareness Campaign – “Switch Off, Save Tomorrow” by Department of Teacher Education IIUI
On October 24, 2024, B.Ed students from the Department of Teacher Education, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) organized an energy conservation awareness campaign titled “Switch Off, Save Tomorrow.” This campaign was part of IIUI’s ongoing Strategic Plan for the Efficient Use of Resources, highlighting the university’s commitment to sustainability and responsible resource management. It was organized in reference to World Energy Saving Day, observed annually on October 21, to raise global awareness about the importance of conserving energy and promoting sustainable practices.
The primary goal of the “Switch Off, Save Tomorrow” campaign was to educate and inspire the university community to adopt energy-saving habits, with a special focus on electricity conservation.
A brief but impactful demonstration was held on the reception area of Fatima Tuz Zahra Block , where students presented practical tips on energy conservation. They showcased simple actions such as switching off unused lights, unplugging devices, and utilizing natural lighting whenever possible. Informative posters were displayed in prominent locations, and pamphlets were distributed to students and faculty.
“As part of IIUI’s broader strategy to promote the efficient use of resources, this campaign played a crucial role in reinforcing the university’s commitment to fostering a sustainable future,” said Dr. Muhammad Munir Kayani, Chairperson of the Department of Teacher Education.
Dr. Summaya Chughtai, Incharge Female Campus highly commended the B.Ed students for their exceptional efforts in organizing the energy conservation awareness campaign under the supervision of Dr. Fouzia Ajmal. She said that this sort of activities will have impact on the generations.
The faculty and staff members from Faculty of Education and other Departments of F.C appreciated the successful organization of the “Switch Off, Save Tomorrow” campaign and highlighted its alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy and SDG 13: Climate Action. They added that the students actively contributed to global efforts to combat climate change and foster sustainable practices, reinforcing IIUI’s dedication to sustainability and responsible resource use.
The campaign served as a reminder that even small, individual actions—such as switching off a light—can collectively contribute to a more sustainable and energy-efficient world.
Seminar on “Prophet Muhammad P.B.U.H. as a Role Model for Humanity and Role of Students According to Islamic Philosophy”
On October 17, the Department of Teacher Education (DOTE) organized an insightful seminar titled “Seerat un-Nabi S.A.W.W and Role of Students according to Islamic Philosophy” at Auditorium, Fatima tuz Zahra Block, Female Campus, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI). Dr. Muhammad Munir Kayani, Chairperson, DOTE, endorsed this event by stating that it is very important to arrange a seminar for students on the themes of ”Seerat un Nabi s.a.w.w and Islamic Philosophy” as it will contribute a lot in familiarizing them with the teachings of Prophet Muhammad P.B.U.H and making them practical Muslims. The organizers of this seminar were Dr. Zarina Akhtar and Dr. Fatima Batool, Assistant Professors, DOTE. Guest speakers for the seminar were Dr. Aliya Akram, Assistant Professor/In-Charge Faculty of Arabic Female Campus, IIUI and Ms. Saadia Razzaq, Associate Professor, HoD Education Department, Islamabad Model College for Girls, F-7/4, Islamabad.
Key organizers of this seminar were students of BS Education (Fourth Semester), BS Education with Information Technology and BS Education with English Language Teaching. The seminar began with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by an introduction of the speakers. Dr. Aliya Akram delivered a comprehensive lecture on the title “Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as Role Model for Humanity”. She emphasized how the Holy Prophet (PBUH) advocated for respect, peace, and compassion, even in difficult situations such as conflicts or disagreements.
Dr. Aliya also highlighted how the Seerat un Nabi S.A.W.W serves as a guide for Muslims, showing them how to live with kindness and uphold human dignity. Following this, Ms. Saadia Razzaq discussed the “Role of Students According to Islamic Philosophy”. She explained how philosophical principles can help in personality development of students and emphasized the importance of philosophy in an all-rounded educational framework. She advised students that if you want to achieve your goals, then doing hard work and putting all possible efforts in practice must be the part of your personality.
In concluding remarks, Dr. Zarina Akhtar said that teaching of Holy Prophet (PBUH) guide us to show patience in each and every difficult situation and we must tried our level best to fulfill our responsibilities in an effective way. Besides, appreciating the valuable insights shared by the guest speakers, she also valued active participation of faculty members and students in the seminar. At the end, Incharge, DOTE Dr. Alina Raza presented certificates of appreciation to focal persons and token of appreciation to guest speakers for their valuable contributions in seminar. The seminar provided the students with enriching perspectives on both the teachings of the Prophet (PBUH) and the critical role of Islamic philosophy in shaping the character of students.
BS Education Students Gain Real-World Insights During Educational Visit to Govt. Girls Secondary School, Rawalpindi
On October 11, 2024, students from the BS 4th Semester, Department of Teacher Education, IIUI, participated in an educational visit to Govt. Girls Secondary School, Magistrate Colony, Rawalpindi, as part of their School Management course. The study tour was organized by Dr. Fouzia Ajmal with the objective of providing students with hands-on exposure to key aspects of school management, resource allocation, and classroom dynamics.
Dr. Anisa Khatoon, Senior Headmistress, and her team warmly welcomed the students and facilitated the visit, giving them an up-close view of the daily operations of a well-managed public school. Dr. Anisa also took the time to brief the students on management practices, school records management, and the importance of effective leadership in educational institutions.
Throughout the visit, students were able to observe key administrative processes, including office workflows, classroom management techniques, and the coordination of resources such as the library, computer labs, and laboratory facilities. The highlight of the visit was an interactive Q&A session with the school’s senior management, where students gained valuable insights into the leadership strategies employed and the challenges faced by administrators in running a public secondary school.
The students found the experience incredibly enriching. Many remarked that it provided a deeper understanding of the complexities involved in managing a school. They appreciated the opportunity to see the application of theoretical knowledge in a real-world setting and recognized that effective school management is a challenging task that requires not only strategic planning but also strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
The students said “We learned so much from this visit, especially about the practical difficulties and the amount of effort it takes to ensure smooth day-to-day operations. It’s clear that school management requires a diverse skill set, and this experience has motivated us to develop those skills further.”
The visit allowed students to connect their academic studies with practical applications, gaining real-world experience that will enhance their future professional development. The Department of Teacher Education is committed to organizing such study tours, providing students with vital opportunities to develop the skills needed to succeed in the field of education.
Department of Teacher Education Arranged a Seminar on “Format of One Pager Summary and Research Synopsis”
Providing adequate guidance and training on the format of research synopsis and one pager summary holds significant importance particularly for research students. Such kind of support can enable researchers to complete their research work timely and in an effective way. Keeping in view this significance, Department of Teacher Education (DoTE) organized a seminar on “Format of One Pager Summary and Research Synopsis” for MS and PhD students at CTF Seminar Room, Fatima Tuz Zahra Block, Female Campus IIUI. Focal person to organize this seminar was Dr. Fatima Batool. Resource persons of this seminar were Dr. Zarina Akhtar and Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, Assistant Professors, Department of Teacher Education.
Seminar started with recitation of Holy Quran; afterwards brief introduction of both resource persons was given to participants. Dr. Zarina Akhtar shared her valuable insights to write an effective introduction and researchable problem statement. She gave very practical examples to students and also shared some sampled problem statements with participants. She also highlighted some common mistakes which students usually make in writing research objectives, questions and hypotheses. Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal guided research students to write research methodology, he also provided very treasured information to students for getting data to write study population and sample selection. Dr. Zarina Akhtar added that researchers must also select data collection instruments very carefully. Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal highlighted the importance of applying relevant statistical techniques based on objective of study. Both resource persons provided practical guidelines to write outcomes of the study effectively. General rules and format to write detailed research synopsis were also briefed to participants. After talk of resource persons, participants were invited to ask questions and clarify their confusions related to format and technicalities of research process.
Dr. Muhammad Munir Kayani, Chairperson, Department of Teacher Education and other faculty members also joined this seminar to appreciate the efforts of resource persons and learning desire of students. Very fruitful and supportive guidelines were provided by chairperson and faculty members. At the end chairperson acknowledged the dedication of resource persons and organizer and presented them certificates as token of appreciation.
Teachers’ Day Celebrations by Faculty of Education
Teachers’ Day holds great importance in all over the world since 1994, acknowledging the vital role of teachers in shaping individuals and society. This annual celebration honors teachers’ dedication to imparting knowledge and values, fostering curiosity, and molding future generations. Following this tradition, Department of Teacher Education and Department of Educational Leadership and Management, Faculty of Education celebrated this day on 9th October, 2024 in Female Campus of IIUI. This day not only recognizes teachers’ tireless efforts but also underscores the transformative power of education.
The reception area of Fatima-tuz-Zahra block was decorated with paper flowers, and artwork, to create a warm and inviting and attractive atmosphere. Along with this, event was celebrated in auditorium of Fatima-tuz-Zahra Block featured with several speeches highlighting the pivotal role that teachers play in shaping the future in both academic and personal development of students. Moreover, students presented poems dedicated to their teachers. These heartfelt pieces captured the essence of mentorship, inspiration, and the lasting bonds formed in the classroom. A group of students performed a short role play depicting a typical classroom scenario, showcasing the challenges and during the class and exams. This engaging performance not only entertained the audience but also served to remind everyone of the hard work of teachers put into their profession.

Dr. Muhammad Munir Kayani (Chairperson, Department of Teacher Education) highlighted that teachers are the heroes who dedicate their lives to nurturing young minds. Their passion, foster creativity, and instill values that lasts for lifetime. Each one of us carries the imprint of a teacher who believed in us, even when we didn’t believe in ourselves. He further advised students to develop their IT skills to become good teachers and meet the demands of 21st century effectively.
Dr. Munazza Mahmood (Incharge, Department of Educational Leadership and Management) presented a thought-provoking poem, highlighting the curiosity of students to embrace their learning, build confidence, and respect for teachers. Dr. Alina Raza, (Incharge, Department of Teacher Education) mentioned that, teachers serve as mentors, offering guidance and support in personal development. They help students navigate challenges, and make informed decisions about their futures. She stressed that as a teacher, we must do tireless efforts to elevate the status of our profession and build a legacy where every teacher feels honored and empowered.
At the end of session, to celebrate the greatest achievement of Faculty of Education in Spring Gala 2024 (First Prize in National Stalls for representing Punjab Culture) a video was played and diligent efforts of organizing team were acknowledged by the faculty members.
Alumni meeting was held on October 3, 2024 in the seminar room of Faculty of Education, IIUI. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar, Acting President, IIUI and Dr. Ghufran Ahmed, Director, (Student Affairs) IIUI were the guests of honor. Senior alumni of Faculty of Education, IIUI who are serving on executive positions in different public sector intuitions ensured their presence in the program. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar briefed about the active role of alumni in promoting the Faculty of Education as Ambassador of Faculty of Education and International Islamic University Islamabad. Dr. Ghufran Ahmed highlighted the role of alumni in upgrading the world ranking of the universities in global perspectives.

IIUI Pioneers Digital Pedagogy with “QUALITY FIRST” Workshop
A two-day workshop titled “Quality First: Enhancing Online Teaching in Higher Education” was held at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI). The workshop, aimed at elevating the quality of online education in Pakistan, was organized by the Faculty of Education in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue (IRD), and Directorate of Quality Assurance and Development (QAD). The workshop was a part of NRPU Project Quality Assurance for Online Teaching in Higher Education in Pakistan by Dr Fouzia Ajmal (PI) and Prof. Dr. N. B. Jumani (Co-PI). The workshop is aligned with international frameworks including Quality Learning and Teaching (QLT) and Quality Matters (QM) alongside HEC’s Online Education Toolkit.
The opening ceremony was officiated by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar, Acting President IIUI, who emphasized the critical role of quality in online education as higher education increasingly shifts to digital platforms. Mr. Abaidullah Anwar, Deputy Director QAA and Focal Person ODL, HEC explained the role of HEC and its efforts for the open and distance learning policy as well as he clarified certain misperceptions about this mode of learning. Dr Rehmat Ellahi, Director QAD mentioned this initiative to be timely and expressed gratitude to the organizers, resource persons, and participants, recognizing the joint efforts of the Faculty of Education, IRD, and QAD in making this workshop a reality.

The event brought together around 40 faculty members from different disciplines from Bahria University, Foundation University , Iqra University , Muslim Youth University, National University of Modern Languages , National University of Sciences and Technology , Pakistan Institute of Development Economics, Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University , Quaid-e-Azam University , University of Wah and from all faculties of International Islamic University Islamabad.
The workshop concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony, where participants were recognized for their commitment to enhancing their teaching skills. The event was a resounding success, setting the stage for future initiatives aimed at promoting excellence in online education in Pakistan.
Faculty of Education at IIUI Welcomes Students delegate from University of Poonch Rawalakot
On October 1, 2024, the Faculty of Education International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) hosted students from the University of Poonch Rawalakot (Mang Campus) accompanied by their faculty members including Mr. Danish Zahir, Ms. Iffat Rehman and Ms. Sana Mehmood for an engaging and informative visit. The students were welcomed by Dr. Azhar Mahmood, Dr. Zarina Akhtar, and Dr. Fouzia Ajmal, who provided an insightful briefing on IIUI, the Faculty of Education, and its various programs and activities. Other faculty members were also present on the occasion.
The briefing highlighted the university’s commitment to academic excellence and the role of the Faculty of Education in shaping future educators. The visiting students were given a comprehensive overview of the research initiatives, degree programs, and its contributions to educational development. Dr Alina Raza responded to the queries of students regarding portfolios and research.
Following the briefing, the students were taken on a short campus tour, where they had the opportunity to explore key facilities of the university. Orientation Session for Newly Enrolled Students in Department of Teacher Education
Newly enrolled female students of Department of Teacher Education, Faculty of Education attended a comprehensive orientation session at the Auditorium of Fatima Block (Female Campus). Students of different academic programs; BS in Education (English Language Teaching), BS in Education (Information Technology), B.Ed (Hons.) Elementary Education and PhD Teacher Education attended the session. The orientation session aimed to introduce new students to the department’s offerings, academic culture, and the range of resources available to support marking the beginning of their new academic journey for success.
Dr. Humaira Akram (focal person activities) imparted the introduction and related rules and regulations of the University with reference to course registration process, attendance policy, grading criteria, scholarship resources, co-curricular activities and a detailed introduction of Faculty members of the Department of Teacher Education.
Students were also encouraged to set high personal and academic standards for optimal growth in new journey and to emphasize on the development of moral values, character building, sense of loyalty and honesty. The session was started with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Dr. Hafiz Ghufran Ali, Director (Student Affairs), IIUI chaired the session. Department of Teacher Education at IIUI arranged CMS Training for Faculty and Staff
The Department of Teacher Education, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) successfully organized a comprehensive training session on the Campus Management System (CMS) for its faculty and staff members on Monday September 09, 2024. The session was held under the leadership of Dr. Muhammad Munir Kayani, Chairperson of the Department, aiming to enhance the digital skills of the academic and administrative staff.
The CMS, recently implemented at IIUI, is designed to streamline administrative processes, improve efficiency, and facilitate effective management of academic activities. The training was conducted by Mr. Munir Baig, Deputy Director IT, and Mr. Abdul Ghaffar, both of whom are experts in CMS implementation and operation.

Department of Teacher Education held an informative orientation session for visiting faculty members. Chaired by Dr. Muhammad Munir Kayani, Chairperson of the Department, the meeting aimed to ensure a seamless transition into the Fall Semester 2024.
The session covered a comprehensive range of essential topics, including the timetable, the effective use of the Course Management System (CMS), examination protocols, attendance policies, and teaching and learning strategies. A significant focus was placed on the implementation of course specifications, including how to integrate updated course content into syllabi to align with current educational standards and enhance student learning outcomes.
Dr. Zarina Akhtar, Incharge Quality Development & Higher Studies (FOE), guided the faculty on the course specification document. Dr. Fouzia Ajmal, Incharge Academic Affairs (FOE), discussed the marks distribution for various batches. Ms. Raffiqa Nazli, Assistant Director (DoTE), highlighted administrative matters related to visiting faculty. Dr. Alina Raza, Incharge, Academic Affairs (DOTE), delivered a brief presentation covering various aspects of orientation.
During the session, Dr. Kayani emphasized the importance of maintaining the quality of learning in all courses. B.Ed (Hons) Elementary Education Program of Department of Teacher Education Accredited in “W” Category (the Highest Accreditation Category)
The Faculty of Education at International Islamic University Islamabad has reached a significant milestone by achieving the highest possible accreditation, the “W” Category, for its B.Ed (Hons) Education Program from the National Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (NACTE). https://www.nacte.org.pk/Accreditation/programs
This is the first program of FoE IIUI which has attained this top-level accreditation. Initially accredited in 2017 with an “X” Category, the program has now progressed to the prestigious “W” Category, the highest standard of accreditation.
This exceptional achievement places the International Islamic University among only three institutions nationwide—alongside IBA Sukkur and Kinnaird College—that have received “W” Category accreditation for their B.Ed (Hons) programs. The success is attributed to the leadership and dedication of Dr. Shamsa Aziz, Chairperson Department of Teacher Education with significant contributions from the Dr. Zarina Akhtar focal person, and the whole team of Department particularly Dr. Fouzia Ajmal, Dr. Humaira Akram, Dr. Alina Raza, Ms. Raffiqa Nazli and Ms. Sehrish Niazi.

Department of Teacher Education, Female Campus, Organizes, “Group Activity on Famous Hydraulic Civilizations of the World”
Civilization is the holistic progressive development of mankind in the post-savage and barbaric period, encompassing social relations that ensure the existing of culture. Studying ancient civilization cultivates analytical and critical thing abilities among students during their course of World History and Civilizations. A group activity was arranged by BS (Teacher Education) 3rd semester to celebrate the vibrant cultural diversity of the world, under the supervision of Ms. Aneela Alam Gill.
Dr. Shamsa Aziz, Chairperson Department of Teacher Education, Dr. Fouzia Ajmal, Dr. Humera, Dr. Alina, Dr. Azeema Khatoon graced the efforts of the students. They lauded the efforts of students and congratulated Ms. Aneela Alam Gill on successfully arranging the event. A large number of students also attended the event.
Traditional models and mouthwatering cuisines and traditional literature from around the country were displayed. It was a great opportunity for students to embrace with the famous hydraulic civilizations f the world.

The Department of Teacher Education at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) successfully hosted the “Arts & Humanities: Global Perspective Event” on May 23, 2024. This enriching event was part of the course “Introduction to Arts and Humanities” for the BS Education Program and BS Arabic students. The event was orchestrated under the expert guidance of Dr. Muhammad Sher Baz Ali, Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership & Management.
The event featured a diverse array of participants, including students from the Department of Teacher Education, the Department of Educational Leadership and Management, and the Faculty of Arabic Studies. The event was a testament to the collaborative spirit and the multidisciplinary approach fostered at IIUI.
The primary objective of the event was to provide students with a global perspective on arts and humanities. Participants showcased various elements of different countries, including Pakistan, the United Kingdom, Russia, Turkey, China, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Afghanistan, Malaysia, and Egypt. Held at the Gallery of the Faculty of Education on the Male Campus, the event commenced at 9:00 AM and saw a vibrant turnout. The event provided an interactive platform for students to engage with and learn about the cultural heritage and artistic expressions of different nations.

Department of Teacher Education, at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) organized a highly informative Digital Tools Workshop focused on “Blended Mode.” On May 22, 2024. This event was a collaborative effort spearheaded by the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar, under the kind supervision of Dr. Zafar Iqbal, Incharge of the Department of Teacher Education. The event was organized by Dr. Muhammad Sher Baz Ali, Assistant Professor, Department of Educational leadership & Management.
The workshop brought together esteemed faculty members, including Dr. Azhar Mahmood, Chairperson, Department of Educational Leadership and Management, and Dr. Fouzia Ajmal, who joined online to provide constructive and motivational feedback. Additionally, we were honoured by the presence of Dr. Muhammad Nasir Khan, whose participation was greatly appreciated and provided significant motivation to the students.
The primary objective of the workshop was to demonstrate the use of freely available and easy-to-use digital tools for teaching mathematics. Senior prospective teachers from the BS Education program showcased their learning by demonstrating various digital tools that can enhance teaching practices in mathematics. The topics of discussion included angles, types of angles, types of triangles, decimal numbers, time measurement, integers, natural numbers, place value, and rational numbers.
The workshop was conducted in a blended mode, with numerous participants, including senior staff, joining both physically and online. The event featured presentations from senior trainee teachers of the Department of Teacher Education, who demonstrated their technological skills and innovative teaching methods. This interactive format allowed attendees to gain a first-hand experience of the transformative potential of digital tools in education.
The motivation and encouragement from senior faculty members significantly boosted the morale and confidence of the students. Their participation and support were instrumental in motivating the students to incorporate these digital tools into their teaching practices. Department of Teacher Education (Female Campus) organizes students’ conference on “Frontiers of Educational Research: A Conference for Tomorrow’s Educators”
Under the visionary leadership of Dr. Shamsa Aziz, Chairperson, Department of Teacher Education organized a student’s conference titled “Frontiers of Educational Research: A Conference for Tomorrow’s Educators” on 21st May, 2024. MS and PhD scholars of the department showcased their research and presented papers. This day-long, highly insightful, and thought-provoking activity opened new vistas of research and highlighted the academic prowess of the scholars.
Dr. Shamsa Aziz chaired the session, which was attended by honourable faculty members including Dr. Alina Raza, Dr. Munazza Mahmood, Dr. Fatima Maqsood, Dr. Fatima Batool, Dr. Fauzia Ajmal and Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal. The faculty members commended the scholars for their efforts and provided constructive critique, broadening their vision and encouraging them in their future endeavours.
Punjab Cultural Stall Organized by the Faculty of Education Won First Prize in National Cultural Stall Competition
On 14th May, 2024 as the main segment of spring gala Punjab cultural stall was organized by Faculty of Education. Chief organizers (Focal Persons) of this activity were Dr. Fatima Batool (Focal person, Department of Teacher Education, DoTE), Ms. Sumaira Batool (Focal person, Department of Educational Leadership and Management, DoELM), and Dr. Fatima Maqsood (Assistant Professor, Department of Educational Leadership and Management). Among students, Syed Haram Raza from DoTE and Iqra Pervaiz from DoELM played the very effective role of lead organizers. Beisdes, 34 students from both departments actively played their energetic and appreciative role to make this event successful.
Chairperson, DoTE Dr. Shamsa Aziz and Incharge DoELM Dr. Munazza Mahmood and female faculty members of both departments grace this activity with their presence. To reflect the real culture, organizers of this activity arranged live multiple segments of Punjab living. Panaflexs, standee and charts were created to provide pictorial glimpses of punajb culture. First segment in this stall was related to the work and motivated kalam of Sufia Karam, two students played the role of Mian Muhmmad Bakhsh and Bullay Shah, and they uttered few lines from their kalam.
Legendary characters of Heer and Ranjha were presented.
A system of Panchait was there to resolve local conflicts. To represent the village culture, a corner of farms was presented with swing, wheat field, farmer and his wife, tractor with driver, and pigeons. Another segment was of Punjabi housewife working in Kitchen using traditional pottery, there was also a well and pots and pans hanging tree constructed by students.
A local wedding ceremony was represented by students, characters of local bride and groom, bride friends playing dholki, singing songs, and few were performing luddi with colorful dandiya sticks. A food stall was there with traditional food items such as Saag, Karhi Pakora, Kheer, Sohn Halwa, Makhan and Shakar, Achaar, Panjeeri, Zarda and Makai ki Rotti. A cultural stall was there where wedding event related, crockery related, and fashion items related items.
Rector Female Campus, Prof. Dr. Samina Malik, her team, Dr. Sadia Saleem and her team along with other judges and guests visited the stall and appreciated the efforts and hard work of faculty n members and students.
On 15th May, 2024, a ceremony was organized to appreciate the efforts of focal persons and students and it was announced that Faculty of Education won first prize on arranging an impressive stall to represent Punjab culture. Focal persons of both departments pay their gratitude to all faculty members, students and staff members for their contributions in making this event successful and memorable.
Faculty of Education, IIUI Organizes Educational Trip for Students
Faculty of Education, International Islamic University Islamabad organized educational trip for students on 18 May, 2024 for the visit of historical places. The trip aimed to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical exposure by visiting key cultural and historical sites. Students visited the Army Museum, Lok Virsa Museum, Pakistan Monument Museum, and Faisal Mosque.
At the Army Museum, they explored Pakistan’s military history, while the Lok Virsa Museum provided insights into the nation’s cultural heritage. The Pakistan Monument Museum highlighted the country’s struggle for independence, and Faisal Mosque offered a study in Islamic architecture.
Dr. Shair Baz, Assistant Professor, Department of Educational Leadership and Management, organized the trip successfully. The success of the trip was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the Dean, Faculty of Education, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar, and the support of Dr. Azhar Mehmood, Chairperson, Department of Educational Leadership and Management. Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, In-charge of the Department of Teacher Education, played a crucial role in coordinating the student activities. Students worked on projects related to their subjects, answering specific questions through observations made during the visits. This hands-on approach fostered critical thinking and enhanced their understanding of the subjects. The trip was further facilitated by the University Administration, the Students Advisor Office, and the Central Transport Unit (CTU), ensuring a smooth and educational experience. Beyond the Screen: Engaging Students with Game-Based Pedagogy” Enlightens Audience at IIUI
On May-08-2024, Department of Teacher Education at International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) hosted a thought-provoking Seminar titled “Beyond the Screen: Engaging Students with Game-Based Pedagogy”. The event brought together esteemed guests, including Dr Zarina Akhtar, Assistant Professor of the Department of Teacher Education, and Dr Shamsa Aziz, Associate Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Teacher Education, along with bright Internship students of BS Education.
The seminar commenced with a warm welcome followed by a moment of reverence with the recitation of the Holy Quran and the national anthem, symbolizing unity and pride as a nation.
The purpose of the seminar was highlighting the significance of exploring innovative methods in education, particularly game-based pedagogy. Attendees gained insights into the benefits of incorporating educational games into teaching practices, including increased student motivation, retention, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
The seminar featured presentations from three groups of talented MS Teacher Education students who showcased their educational games designed for different grade levels and subjects. Through interactive activities, attendees gained a firsthand glimpse into the transformative potential of game-based learning.
The seminar provided an enriching experience for attendees, encouraging active participation and engagement in discussions. By delving into the realm of game-based pedagogy, participants embarked on a journey toward enhancing teaching and learning practices.
At the end certificates of appreciation were presented to Dr. Zarina Akhtar and the students of MS Teacher Education for their invaluable contributions to the event.

This science exhibition showcased various projects created by B.Ed. Elementary Education students to demonstrate scientific concepts in a clear and engaging way. The projects aimed to spark curiosity and promote scientific literacy among viewers. It was supervised by Dr. Zarina Akhtar.
Project Displays: The exhibition featured five projects covering diverse scientific fields:
Greenhouse: This project explored the structure and function of greenhouses, highlighting their role in optimizing plant growth conditions. It explained key components like ventilation, heating/cooling, lighting, irrigation, and monitoring systems. The project emphasized the benefits of greenhouses in extending growing seasons, protecting plants, and increasing yields.
Layers of the Atmosphere: This project focused on the Earth’s atmosphere, explaining its various layers (troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, thermosphere, and exosphere). It described the unique characteristics of each layer and their role in regulating temperature, protecting Earth from radiation, and influencing weather patterns.
Biodiversity: This project addressed the importance of biodiversity, the variety of living things on Earth. It explained how biodiversity maintains balanced ecosystems and provides essential resources like food, medicine, clean air, and water. The project also highlighted the threats to biodiversity and emphasized the need for conservation efforts.
Kidney Model: This project presented a model of the kidney, a vital organ responsible for filtering waste products from the blood. The model showcased key structures like the nephrons and renal blood vessels, explaining the filtration process and urine production. It emphasized the kidney’s role in maintaining fluid balance and eliminating waste from the body.
Solar System Model: This project displayed a model of the solar system, including the Sun, eight planets (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune), dwarf planets like Pluto, and the Sun’s corona. The model provided a basic understanding of the solar system’s structure and the planets’ relative positions and sizes.
Food chain: It is a series of organisms that eat other organisms, showing how energy and nutrients are passed from one level to the next. It starts with producers (plants, algae) that convert sunlight into energy, followed by:
1. Primary consumers (herbivores) that eat producers
2. Secondary consumers (carnivores) that eat primary consumers
3. Tertiary consumers (top predators) that eat secondary consumers
4. Decomposers (bacteria, fungi) that break down dead organisms, recycling nutrients
The science exhibition was a success, offering a captivating way to learn about various scientific concepts. The B.Ed. students effectively presented their projects, fostering scientific curiosity and knowledge among the audience.

تقریب بعنوان ”اردو زبان سیکھنے کی اہمیت کو اجاگر کرنا’
مورخہ 03 مئی 2024″ بین الاقوامی اسلامی یونیورسٹی اسلام أباد میں ایجوکیشن فکیلٹی کے ذیلی شعبہ (ٹیچر ایجوکیشن) کے زیر اہتمام ا یک تقریب بعنوان ”اردو زبان سیکھنے کی اہمیت کو اجاگر کرنا” فاطمہ بلاک آڈیٹوریم میں منعقد ہوئی۔ تقریب کی منتظم اعلی کے فرائض ڈاکٹر فاطمہ بتول علوی نے سر انجام دئیے جبکہ دیگر منتظمین میں بی ایڈ ایلیمنٹری ایجوکیشن کی طالبات نے احسن خدمات سر انجام دیں۔ اس تقریب کے مہمان خصوصی ڈین فیکلٹی آف ایجوکیشن پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد سرور تھے۔ اوراس تقریب کی مہمان مقررین شعبہ اردو سے ” ڈاکٹرحمیرا اشفاق ” اور”ڈاکٹر ماریہ ترمزی” تھیں۔ تقریب کا آغاز تلاوت کلام پاک سے ہوا مابعد قومی ترانہ پڑھا گیا۔
تقریب کے آغاز میں شاعر مشرق ڈاکٹر علامہ محمد اقبال کو خراج عقیدت پیش کرتے ہوئے ان کی مشہور زمانہ نظم” لب پہ آتی ہے دعا بن کے تمنا میری ” ملٹی میڈیا پر چلائی گئی اس کے بعد “چیئرپرسن شعبہ ٹیچر ایجوکیشن ڈاکٹر شمسہ عزیز” کو تقریب میں استقبالیہ خطاب کرنے کیلئے مدعو کیا گیا انہوں نے مہمان خصوصی اور مہمان مقررین کا شکریہ ادا کرتے ہوئے اپنی گفتگو کا آغاز کیا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ انہیں یہ بتاتے ہوئے فخر محسوس ہو رہا ہے کہ ڈاکٹر فاطمہ بتول نے اردو کا مضمون انتہائی احسن طریقے سے ان کے شعبہ میں نہ صرف پڑھایا بلکہ اس سے متعلق انتہائی دلچسپ اور اہم سرگرمیوں کا انعقاد بھی کروایا ۔ اردو کی اہمیت کو اجاگر کرتے ہوئے انہوں نے فرمایا کہ آئین پاکستان میں اردو کی تدریس کو لازمی قرار دیا گیا ہے ۔ اردو نہ صرف قومی رابطے کی زبان ہے بلکہ قومی اتحاد کی علامت بھی ہے۔ لیکن افسوس کی بات یہ ہے کہ آج بہت سارے لوگ صحیح اردو بولنے سے قاصر ہیں اور انگریزی زبان بولنے میں فخر محسوس کرتے ہیں۔ ان کا مزید کہنا تھا کہ ہمیں اپنے بچوں کو صحیح اردو بولنا سکھانا چاہیے کیونکہ ایک بین الاقومی ادارے کی رپورٹ کے مطابق اردو کو دنیا کی سب سے ذیادہ شائستہ زبانوں میں سے ایک زبان سمجھا جاتا ہے ۔ اردو ہماری گفتگو میں شائستگی لانے میں اہم کردار ادا کر سکتی ہے ۔انہوں نے اپنی گفتگو کا اختتام اس شعر سے کیا۔

ان کے بعد مہمان خصوصی “پروفیسر ڈاکٹر محمد سرور” کو خطاب کیلئے مدعو کیا گیا ان کا کہنا تھا کہ اردو پر بات کرنے کیلئے کچھ سوچنا نہیں پڑا اور میں بغیر سوچے آپ سب کے سامنے کھڑا ہوں اس کے بعد انہوں نے شعبہ ٹیچر ایجوکیشن کی اردو سے متعلق مختلف موضوعات پر منعقد کروائی جانے والی سرگرمیوں کو سراہا ان کا مزید کہنا تھا کہ سب سے پہلے ضرورت اس امر کی ہے کہ اردو اور زبان کو الگ کیا جائے ہم بہت ساری زبانیں سیکھتے ہیں اور ان میں بات کرتے ہیں باقی زبانیں بھی ہمارے مقاصدکے حصول کیلئےاہم ہیں لیکن اردو ہماری پہچان ہے اردو میں ہم اپنے جذبات بیان کرتے ہیں ارود ہمارے دل کی زبان ہے ۔اور یہ ہماری ذندگیوں سے کسی طور بھی الگ نہیں ہو سکتی. ان کے خطاب کے بعد مہمان مقرر “ڈاکٹر حمیرا اشفاق “کو اسٹیج پر مدعو کیا گیا ۔ خطاب کے آغاز میں انہوں نے شعبہ ٹیچر ایجوکیشن کو اردو کی اہمیت پر ایک کامیاب سیمینار منعقد کروانے پر سراہا انہوں نے اردو زبان کی اہمیت کو اجاگر کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ اردو نہ صرف ہمارے آباؤ اجداد کی زبان ہے بلکہ یہ ہماری علاقائی شناخت بھی ہے۔ ہمارے اساتذہ پرفرض ہے کہ بچوں میں قومی زبان سے محبت کو پروان چڑھائیں ان کا کہنا تھا کہ ایک اچھا استاد ایک سلیقہ شعار قوم کو جنم دیتا ہے اور ایک برا استاد پوری قوم کی تباہی کر دیتا ہے ان کا مزید کہنا تھا کہ ہمارے ہاں زبان سکھانے کیلئے جدید طریقوں کو بروئے کار نہیں لایا جاتا ہمارا بنیادی مسئلہ یہ ہے کہ ہم اپنے بچوں کو جوڑ توڑ میں اتنا الجھا دیتے ہیں کہ ان کو صحیح فقرہ بنانا اور املا نہیں آتی کوئی بھی زبان سکھانے کیلئے ضروری ہے کہ اس زبان میں بچوں کے سننے ،بولنے،لکھنے اور پڑھنے کی صلاحیت کو بہتر بنایا جائے تدریسی عمل کا مقصد آسان لفظوں میں بچوں کو سکھانا اور پڑھانا ہے۔ ایک اچھا استاد تدریسی عمل میں ہمیشہ بچوں کی ذہنی سطح کا خیال رکھتا ہے اور ایک عاجز انسان ہی ایک اچھا استاد بن سکتا ہے
ان کے بعد ڈاکٹر ماریہ ترمذی خطاب کے لیے اسٹیج پر تشریف لائیں اور انہوں نے اس بات پر روشنی ڈالی کہ اردو زبان اور ادب کی تدریس کے لیے علیحدہ علیحدہ حکمت عملی اپنانے کی ضرورت ہے۔ ایک اور اہم بات یہ ہے کہ بچوں کو صحیح اردو تب تک نہیں آ سکتی جب تک وہ خود اردو متن پڑھنے کی کوشش نہیں کرتے.بچوں کو چاہیے کہ روزانہ اردو کی ریڈنگ کرنا اپنا معقول بنا لیں. بچوں کو سیکھانا چاہئیے کہ یا تو خالصتاً اردو میں بات کریں یا پھر انگریزی میں ۔دونوں زبانوں کا مکسچر بنانے سے گریز کریں. انہوں نے فیض احمد فیض کے کچھ اشعاراور انکے اصل معنی بھی سامعین کو بتاۓ۔ تقریب کے اختتام پر ڈاکٹر فاطمہ بتول نے اختتامی کلمات ادا کرنے کیلئے اسٹیج پر تشریف لائیں اور انہوں نے اپنی گفتگو کا آغاز اس شعر سے کیا

ان کا کہنا تھا کہ اردو کی اہمیت کو نظر انداز کر کے ہم نہ صرف اپنے ادبی ورثہ سے دور ہو رہے ہیں بلکہ ہماری قومی شناخت بھی ختم ہوتی جا رہی ہے ۔انہوں نے چین کی مثال دیتے ہوۓ بتایا کہ کس طرح اس ملک میں اپنی قومی زبان سے جڑے رہنے کی بدولت تیزی سے ترقی کی اور اپنا نام دنیا کی صف اول کی قوموں میں درج کروایا آخر پر انہوں نے چئیرپرسن ڈاکٹر شمسہ عزیز، مہمانان گرامی، تمام ساتھی اساتذہ اور سامعین کا شکریہ ادا کیا اور بی ایڈ ۔ ایلمینٹری ایجوکیشن کی طالبات کو ان کی محنت اور لگن پر سراہا اور اس طرح یہ پر رونق تقریب اختتام کو پہنچی

Training session on “Data cleaning and Data Analysis through ChatGpt version 4 and 3.5” was organized at Faculty of Education, on 26 March 2024 at seminar room, Faculty of Education. The training session was conducted for the MS and PhD students of Faculty of Education to enhance their academic capabilities regarding Data cleaning and Data Analysis through ChatGpt version 4 and 3.5. Sufficient number of MS and PhD students ensured their presence in the training session. The training session was successfully completed in the supervision of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar, Dean, Faculty of Education. The Keynote speaker was Dr. Sher Baz Ali, Assistant Professor, Department of Educational Leadership and Management, faculty of Education, IIUI.
Dr. Sher Baz Ali, successfully demonstrated the Data cleaning and Data Analysis through ChatGpt version 4 and 3.5. The training session was arranged by Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, In-Charge Academic, Department of Teacher Education, Faculty of Education, IIUI. Dr. Azhar Mehmood, Chairperson, Department of Educational Leadership and Management, Dr. Muhammad Nasir Khan and Dr. Sufi Amin ensure their presence in the training session as well. A Journey of Insight into Islamic Education – Study Tour organized by Department of Teacher Education to Islamic Research Institute, IIUI
In a study tour organized by Department of Teacher Education on Friday March 08, 2024, the students of B.Ed Elementary Education studying the course of “Islamic Education System” were accompanied by Dr. Fouzia Ajmal and Ms. Sehrish Niazi. The field trip, which included a visit to the IRI at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), was a remarkable opportunity for students to delve into the practical aspects of Islamic education.
The field trip aimed to provide students with experience in a real-life educational institution dedicated to Islamic research. Immersing themselves in the environment allowed them to witness the practical implementation of Islamic education principles and gain firsthand insights into teaching and learning processes. Dr. Hafiz Aftab Ahmad, Assistant Professor/Head, Department of Comparative Study of World Religions facilitated the tour and gave detailed briefing about Islamic research Institute.
Visiting the IRI gave students the chance to interact with scholars and researchers who are authorities in the field of Islamic education. Engaging in discussions, asking questions, and learning from the wealth of knowledge and experiences of these experts was a pivotal aspect of the trip.
Dr Hamidullah library and archives were also explored, offering a rich repository of resources related to Islamic research and education. Students had the opportunity to access relevant books and journals, broadening their understanding of the subject matter.
The IRI Gallery and Printing Press were also shown to the students. As part of the study tour, Q&A sessions were organized to enhance students’ engagement mentioning the contribution of IRI for the advancement of Islamic education research on a global scale, Paigham-e-Pakistan initiative and How does IRI collaborate with other institutions to promote Islamic education?
The visit to the IRI left a lasting impact on the students, influencing their understanding of Islamic education and its practical implementation. It served as a catalyst for further exploration and a source of inspiration for their academic and professional journeys in the sphere of Islamic education.
The Department of Teacher Education expresses gratitude to the Islamic Research Institute for its facilitation, recognizing the Institute’s pivotal role in broadening the horizons of these future educators and contributing to the advancement of Islamic education.
Department of Teacher Education organized a workshop on Proposal Writing at International Islamic University Islamabad on 23rd February 2024. The purpose of the workshop was to equip students for writing research proposal. There were two sessions of the workshop which were very informative in the way that the students would be able to do their research in future with the use of AI tools. The workshop was started with the recitation of Holy Quran by the MS Scholar Qudsia Shami from the Department of Teacher Education. After the recitation, first session was started.
The first session started at 9:30AM and the session speaker was Dr. Zarina Akhtar. The session was interactive she told the students about difference of one pager and synopsis during writing research proposal. Thesis writing steps were explained. All the parts of synopsis were discussed with examples.
The second session started at 11:00am and the Session speaker was Dr. Muhammad Sherbaz. The topic of the session was “Use of Chat Gpt for academic writing”. Dr. Sherbaz gave practical and legal view of using Chat gpt to the students. He explained students by practical examples and through answering the questions of the students. He also told how the students can search the latest articles on Chat Gpt.
Both the sessions were very informative and valuable for the students. Students found the correct way of writing synopsis as well as usage of Chat Gpt. At the end of the session, shield was presented to Dr. Zarina Akhtar and Certificates to the session speakers and the organizer students.
An Orientation Session for New Students & Sports Certificates Distribution at the Faculty of Education, IIU
An orientation for the newly enrolled students at the Faculty of Education, IIUI was organized on Feb, 29th 2024 at 10.00 am in the auditorium of the Faculty Block II in collaboration with Students Advisor Office, IIUI. Dr. Ghufran Ahmad Student Advisor IIUI, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar Dean, Faculty of Education participated as the guest of honors in the orientation session. Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal Assistant Professor, Department of Teacher Education, Dr. Muhammad Nasir Khan Assistant Professor, Department of Teacher Education and Ch. Khalid, Sports Officer, IIUI addressed the students during orientation session.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar highlighted the importance of developing positive attitude, disciplined life and practical contribution of youth for the development of society Dr. Ghufran Ahmad, Student Advisor briefed about building tolerance and confidence in the students. He further sensitized the students about the entrepreneur skills, need and importance time management.
Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, In-Charge Programs, briefed about learning from experiences of others and acquiring 21st century skills for grooming their personality. Dr. Muhammad Nasir Khan was the stage secretary of the program. He spoke about importance of books reading and developing creative skills. Ch. Khalid briefed about the co-curricular activities at campus and encouraged the students to actively participate in the sports at IIUI.
At the end sports certificates were distributed among the students who actively participated in the sports gala 2023 at IIUI. Dr. Muhammad Nasir Khan paid vote of thanks to the Students’ Advisor and Dean, Faculty of Education for sparing time for the orientation session.
WORKSHOP ON NATIONAL PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS FOR TEACHERS IN PAKISTAN
In a proactive initiative, the Department of Teacher Education at the Faculty of Education, MS Teacher Education, First Semester, organized a comprehensive workshop on National Professional Standards for Teachers (NPSTs). The event was held with the participation of students from the Education, Second Semester, under the supervision of Dr. Fouzia Ajmal.
Distinguished guests, Dr. Shamsa Aziz (Chairperson Department of Teacher Education), Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal (Incharge (Programs) Department of Teacher Education) and Dr. Zarina Akhtar (Assistant Professor) were invited to share their insights during the workshop.
This collaborative effort aimed to equip participants with a deep understanding of the National Professional Standards for Teachers, emphasizing their importance in shaping the future of teacher education. The event not only provided a platform for practical insights but also highlighted the commitment of the Department to enhance the quality of education through continuous learning and development.

آج کی تقریب دو نشستوں پر مشتمل تھی۔ پہلی نشست کے شعری مقابلہ بعنوان” کلیات اقبال ” میں بی ایڈ اور بی ایس ( ساتویں سمسٹر ) کی چھ طالبات نے حصہ لیا “مہمانان خصوصی” نے پہلی تین پوزیشنز لینے والی طالبات کے نام منتخب کیئے۔ بعد ازاں علامہ اقبال کی مشہور دعا “لب پہ آتی ہے دعا بن کے تمنا میری” کی ویڈیو دکھائی گئی اور حاضرین نے اس کو خوب سراہا۔دوسری نشست میں ڈاکٹر ماریہ ترمزی نے” اردو میں بنیادی لسانی مہارتوں کی اہمیت” پر گراں قدرخیالات کا اظہار کیا۔ اور بتایا کہ ہم روزمرہ زندگی میں اردو بولتے وقت لا شعوری طور پر بہت سی غلطیاں کر جاتے ہیں۔ بہت سی دوسری زبانوں کے الفاظ اردو زبان میں شامل کر دئیےجاتے ہیں جوکہ نا مناسب ہیں۔ انہوں نے طلباء کو اردو زبان میں سننے، بولنے، پڑھنے اور لکھنے کی مہارتوں میں بہتری کیلئے مختلف طریقے بتاۓ ۔ دوسری مہمان خصوصی ڈاکٹر نعیمہ بی بی نے شاعری پڑھتے وقت صحیح الفاظ کی ادائیگی کی اہمیت پر روشنی ڈالی۔ انہوں نے کئی الفاظ کی مثالیں دیں۔ جو عام طور پر طلباء صحیح ادا نہیں کرتے اوریہ عمل شاعری کے حقیقی معنی کو بدل دیتا ہے۔
آخر میں شعبہ ٹیچر ایجوکیشن کی چیئرپرسن “ڈاکٹر شمسہ عزیز” نے اردو زبان کی تعلیم کی اہمیت پر زور دیا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ افسوس ہے کہ ہم اپنے طلباء کو صحیح اردو سکھانے سے قاصر ہیں ۔علامہ اقبال کی بات کرتے ہوئے انہوں نے بتایا کہ وہ نہ صرف ایک ماہرتعلیم، فلسفی، اور وکیل تھے بلکہ ایک صوفی درویش منش انسان تھے۔ ان کی شاعری انقلابی تھی ۔انہوں نےنوجوانوں کو زندگی کے ہر پہلو میں کامیابی کیلئے خاص طور پر انہیں اچھے اورحقیقی مسلمان بننے کیلئے راہنمائی دی۔ محترمہ نے اپنے موضوع کا اختتام اقبال کے ان چند اشعار سے کیا ۔
لکھنا نہیں آتا تو میری جان پڑھا کر
ہو جائے گی مشکل تیری آسان پڑھا کر
پڑھنے کے لئے تجھ کو اگر کچھ نہ ملے تو

تقریب کے اختتام پر ڈاکٹر شمسہ عزیز نے شاعری مقابلے میں جیتنے والی طالبات, منتظمین اعلی اور مہمانان خصوصی کو اسناد پیش کیں۔ محترمہ نے مہمانان خصوصی ، منتظمین اعلی اور تمام طالبات کا دل کی اتھاہ گہرائیوں سے شکریہ ادا کیا ۔

The seminar was conducted on December 18, 2023 at Department of Teacher education, Female Campus, IIUI. The aim of the seminar was to explore the intersections and divergences in the pedagogical philosophies of Muslim and Western traditions, fostering a deeper understanding of cultural transmission in educational legacies. The proceedings started with the recitation and then formal presentations started. The atmosphere was interactive, with engaging discussions and insights shared by both presenters and attendees. Dr. Shamsa and Dr. Zafar Iqbal, graced the event. Their presence added scholarly weight to the occasion, reflecting the significance of the topic in the academic community. The MS students in attendance actively participated, posing thoughtful questions that enriched the discussions. Teachers appreciated the efforts of the organizers (PhD students) in putting together a well-structured and intellectually stimulating seminar. The seminar successfully achieved its goal of unraveling the pedagogical threads of Muslim and Western philosophical traditions. The synthesis of ideas from both traditions provided a holistic view of educational legacies, fostering a deeper appreciation for cultural transmission in the realm of education. Seminar on ‘Pedagogical Models: Adapting Education to 21st Century Learners’
The PhD scholars, arranged a seminar titled “Pedagogical Models: Adapting Education to 21st Century Learners” at the Department of Teacher Education (Female Campus) on November 22, 2023. Distinguished Faculty members Dr. Humaira Akram, Dr. Fatima Alvi, Dr. Fatima Maqsood, and Dr. Fauzia Ajmal attended the seminar, while the audience consisted of female students pursuing MS Education at International Islamic University Islamabad. The principal aim of the Seminar was to scrutinize Pedagogical Models, examining their theoretical underpinnings and practical ramifications within both the global and Pakistani contexts. The presentations also aimed to extract insights conducive to the progression of the educational milieu in Pakistan. The proceedings of the Seminar commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran by Ms. Aqsa Bint-e-Zafar. The presentations unfolded with Ms. Tabassum Shairwani Khan’s discourse on ‘The Cognitive Model of Pedagogical Reasoning.’ Subsequently, Ms. Aqsa Bint-e-Zafar expounded on ‘Merrill’s Pedagogical Model,’ while Ms. Saadia Razzaq delved into the ‘Collaborative Model of Pedagogical Reasoning.’ Following this, Ms. Shumaila Aslam presented the ‘ASSURE Model,’ and Ms. Zul Ul Ane Fatima focused her deliberations on ‘Project-Based Learning Models.’ The scholars provided a comprehensive overview of these Pedagogical Models, offering meaningful suggestions for the implementation of these models within Pakistan’s educational framework. The seminar fostered an interactive atmosphere, with the presenters skillfully engaging the audience. The attendees posed insightful questions to the presenters, who adeptly addressed their queries. During the evaluation of the presentations, Dr. Fatima Batool and Dr. Humaira Akram acknowledged the students’ efforts and provided constructive feedback. In her concluding remarks, Dr. Humaira Akram summarized key insights derived from the Cognitive models, delivering encouraging and insightful comments. The doctoral candidates from the Department of Teacher Education ( Faculty of Education) organized a seminar titled “Beyond Borders: A Global Dialogue on Education Transformation in Developing Nations” at the Dean’s Office, Male Campus IIUI. Professor Dr. N B Jumani, Vice President, IIUI, presided over the seminar, with Dr. Muhammad Sarwar, the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Dr. Fatima Alvi, Dr. Zarina Akhtar, Dr. Fatima Maqsood, Dr. Zafar Iqbal, and Dr. Azhar Mehmood . The audience included students pursuing Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from both male and female campuses. The seminar’s primary aim was to compare education systems globally, seeking insights to enhance the educational landscape in Pakistan. The proceedings commenced with Ms. Shumaila Aslam’s analysis of Pakistan’s education system, followed by comparative analyses of education systems in China, India, Saudi Arabia, Botswana, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and Bhutan by Ms. Tabassum Shairwani Khan, Ms. Aqsa Bint-e-Zafar, Ms. Sadia Razzaq, and Ms. Zul ul Ane Fatima, respectively. These scholars provided a comprehensive overview of the education systems in their respective countries and offered meaningful suggestions for improving Pakistan’s educational framework. Following the presentations, Prof. Dr. N B Jumani while evaluating the presentations, acknowledged the students’ endeavors and providing constructive feedback highlighting the principles of content selection, data presentation and slide preparation. He also underscored the significance of cognitive reasoning and an analytical approach in discussions. Other faculty members also shared valuable insights, contributing to the enrichment of both the presenters and future audiences. Dr. Fatima Maqsood, in her concluding remarks, summarized the key insights derived from the comparative analyses, fostering a collective encouragement for sustained scholarly pursuits in the realm of education transformation in developing nations.

A Dialogue on Role of National Accreditation Council for faculty members was organized by Department of Teacher Education, Faculty of Education, IIUI on 6th October, 2023 at Seminar Room, Faculty of Education. The keynote speaker of the said program was Dr. Muhammad Khalid Mehmood, Secretary, NACTE. The major objective of the program was to enhance the vision of faculty members about the role of NACTE. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar, Dean, Faculty of Education, chaired the program while Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, In-Charge, Department of Teacher Education was the focal person in the said program. Dr. Muhammad Khalid Mehmood briefed about the role of NACTE in enhancing the quality of teacher education programs and accreditation standards.
Dr. Muhammad Khalid Mehmood comprehensively discussed the accreditation standards for teacher education and the research areas for the MS & Doctoral students. He also highlighted the tools of accreditation and the procedure of assessment of academic programs. At the end, faculty members raised the questions regarding role of NACTE and the session was concluded with a critical discussion on the existing and future Role of NACTE in enhancing the quality of teacher education programs. Dr. Muhammad Khalid Mehmood sensitized the faculty members/supervisors about the research areas identified by NACTE for MS and Doctoral research students in the field of education.

“Orientation Session for New Students at Faculty of Education, Male Campus”
Orientation session was organized on 20 September 2023 by the Student Advisor, IIUI for the new enrolled students in Fall 2023 semester in BS, MS and PhD programs at faculty of Education, Male Campus, IIUI. Dr. Rizwan Aftab, Student Advisor addressed the new students about university disciple, rules and regulations and responsibilities of students while their stay at IIUI. Mr. Muhammad Rizwan, Sports Officer IIUI highlighted the need and importance of sports in the students’ life and the sports activities at IIUI. Mr. Naseer, Assistant Librarian Officer, IIUI briefed about the rules and regulations of Libraries of IIUI. Dr. Muhammad Nasir Khan, Department of Teacher Education highlighted about learning the values and contributions of students for sustainable development in society. Training Workshop “Managing Supervision” Organized by Faculty of Education, IIUI
In alignment with the visionary leadership of the International Islamic University Islamabad and Higher Education Commission, Islamabad, the Faculty of Education (FoE), IIUI organized training workshop titled “Managing Supervision” on September 1, 2023 for the faculty members. All the faculty members of Faculty of Education ensured their presence in the training workshop.
Prof. Dr. Khalid Khurshid, Professor of Education at Bahauddin Zakria University Multan was the resource person of the training program. Prof. Dr. Khurshid elaborated the strategies for managing supervision of MS & Doctoral dissertations. Prof. Dr. Khalid Khurshid highlighted the effective usage of tools such as “Spinbot,” and “iThenticate.” while supervising the dissertations. Prof. Khurshid discussed the evidence-based strategies to stop fake academic writings.

Faculty of Education, IIUI initiated series of “HEC Approved Supervisor Capacity Building Seminars” for faculty members.
As per instructions of the prestigious Leadership of International Islamic University Islamabad and Higher Education Commission, Islamabad, a seminar was conducted at Faculty of Education, IIUI on August 23, 2023 for the extensive training of the faculty members of Faculty of Education to enhance their academic potential for supervising MS and Doctoral dissertations.
Dr. Azhar Mehmood, Chairman, Department of Educational Leadership and Management, Faculty of Education, IIUI served as the resource person for the training. Dr. Azhar Mehmood is the Master Trainer of Higher Education Commission Islamabad for training the faculty members to strengthen their capacity for supervising MS and Doctoral dissetations. Dr. Azhar Mehmood got training at Higher Education Commission Islamabad that was conducted with the collaboration of British Council and Coventry University, United Kingdom. All the faculty members of Faculty of Education ensured their presence. The training was started with the recitation of verses of Holy Quran. Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, In-Charge, Department of Teacher education, IIUI was the focal person for the training program. Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal introduced the aims and objectives of the training. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar, Dean of the Faculty of Education, chaired the training session and highlighted the need and importance of this training for the capacity building of faculty members in supervising MS and Doctoral dissertations. Dr. Mehmood’s sessions spanned a range of crucial areas including i. Strategies to address casual behavior among students, ii. The importance and methodology of SWOT analysis, iii. Effective conflict resolution techniques, iv. Addressing trust deficit within educational institutions, v. The role and significance of doctors’ advisory committees.
The faculty members shared their experiences of supervising and elaborated the problems and challenges while supervising the dissertations.
This series of seminars is a comprehensive and significant step to address the problems and challenges in supervising the MS and Doctoral dissertations. At the end of training session, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar appreciated the efforts of Faculty of Education for organizing such a beneficial training program for the faculty members.

A one-day seminar on “Role of Universities in Professional Development of Teachers” was organized by Faculty of Education, International Islamic University Islamabad at Fateh Jung on Tuesday July 25, 2023. The seminar began with the recitation of Holy Quran and then recited the Naat Rasool Maqbool. Speaker of the seminar was Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal (Assistant Professor / Incharge (Male / Female Programs) / Incharge Academics, DDL, IIU). The seminar aimed to highlight the crucial role that universities play in shaping and enhancing the professional development of teachers, and how this impacts the overall quality of education.
Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal began by emphasizing the pivotal role teachers’ play in molding the future generation.
