Dr. Muhammad Nasir Khan participated as Keynote Speaker in 1st International Conference on Philosophy of Social Sciences at PMAS Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi
Dr. Muhammad Nasir Khan, Faculty member of Department of Teacher Education, IIUI was invited to address as keynote speaker at 1st International Conference on Philosophy of Education at PMAS Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi on 21st December 2022.
He highlighted the need and importance of peacebuilding in adolescents and youth. He said that our institutions needed to more focus on teaching social and emotional development of our new generation. Dr. Khan described that teaching disaster management skills is need of the day and our institutions should focus on teaching these skills.
National Accreditation Council for Teacher Educators Visited Faculty of Education
National Accreditation Council for Teacher Educators (NACTE) evaluators’ team visited Faculty of Education. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar, Dean Faculty of Education welcomed evaluators’ team and briefed about the infrastructure and different academic programmes. Prof. Dr. N. B. Jumani, Acting President, International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) chaired the introductory session and briefed the team about IIUI distinctions. He added that as a result of untiring efforts of Prof. Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, President, IIUI, university is flourishing and stands at No 1 in Pakistan in Theology, Divinity and Religious Studies in QS subject ranking 2022. While according to Asia University Ranking 2022 IIUI stands at No 3 in Pakistan. Dr. Jumani further added that presently 150 international teachers are serving at IIUI and almost 2000 international students are enrolled in this university in different programmes. Conducive learning environment is provided to the students at IIUI. Dr. Jumani also paid special thanks to the Saudi Government for extended collaboration.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khalid Mahmood, Secretary, NACTE briefed the faculty members about accreditation criteria and different evaluation tools. He added that NACTE apply 10 different tools to accredit any academic programme. Overall NACTE team will observe the quality of teaching in the departments by observing 152 different indicators. Mr. Usaid Hasan and Mr. Asghar Khan Assistant Directors, QAD, IIUI briefed the team about the quality assessment and self assessment mechanism prevailing at IIUI. Prof. Dr. Samina Yasmin Malik, Vice President, Female Campus, IIUI paid special thanks to the evaluators and applauded the efforts of NACTE to enhance the quality of teacher education programmes in the country.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar, Dean, Faculty of Education added that Faculty of Education is committed to the uplift the academic standards. Dr. Sarwar also acknowledged and appreciated the efforts made by faculty members regarding preparation of NACTE documents. Dr. Shiekh Tariq Mahmood and Dr. Fouzia Ajmal, presented the vision, mission, achievements, targets and destinations of the faculty of Education. During evaluation process NACTE team visited infrastructure (classrooms, library, computer labs, faculty offices etc) and held interviews with heads of the departments, conducted interviews of alumni, conducted interviews with supporting staff and thoroughly checked all the documents.
FACULTY OF EDUCATION HOLDS RESEARCH TRAINING WORKSHOP ON ACADEMIC LANGUAGE SKILLS
A two days research training workshop was organized by Faculty of Education, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI). The objective of the training programme was to enhance the vision of MS and Ph.D scholars about academic writing skills.
Prof. Dr. N. B. Jumani (Vice President, Administration & Finance) and Prof. Dr. Samina Malik (Vice President, Female Campus) also attended the workshop as guests of honor. On this occasion, Prof. Jumani sensitized the scholars about quality of research and briefed them about the vision of Prof. Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, President IIUI regarding quality of research. Dr. Jumani appreciated the efforts of Dr. Muhammad Sarwar, Dean, Faculty of Education and faculty members for organizing this training programme.
During the workshop, Prof. Dr. Samina Malik VP, Female Campus, motivated the scholars to get maximum benefit from this opportunity to improve their academic language skills.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar Bajwa was the trainer of the workshop. Dr. Sarwar shred key points about development of academic language skills to and involved the workshop participants in different writing activities. Fifty MS and PhD scholars participated in the workshop.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar paid special thanks to the Vice Presidents for taking keen interest in affairs of the faculty of education. He emphasized over searching out the gap related to training of scholars for improvement purposes. Dr. Sarwar further added that the development of language skills and clarification of concepts help out researchers to remain focused to research outcomes. The guests of honor advised the faculty of education to organize more such workshops in future. Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, Assistant Professor, Department of Teacher Education, Faculty of Education was the focal person of the workshop. FACULTY OF EDUCATION HOLDS MEDIA TALK ON SUSTAINABLE EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Faculty of Education, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), organized a media talk as a part of the Series of Events on Grand National Dialogue in collaboration with Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI) at Allama Iqbal Auditorium, Faisal Masjid Campus of the university.
Prof. Dr. Haroona Jatoi, Former Joint Education Advisor, Curriculum Wing Islamabad, Dr. Iftikhar Hussain Shah, Additional Director General, Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority, Head Office Lahore and Prof. Dr. Nabi Bux Jumani Vice President (A&F) IIUI were the speakers during the program while, it was moderated by Ms. Fizza Sajawal Anchor person, Pakistan Television, PTV World. During the program the speakers opined that Nations are made not by wealth but education system as no country can achieve its targets without educating its youth.
Prof. N. B. Jumani Vice President (A&F), IIUI during his address stressed upon conducting dialogues in the society, Dr. Jumani paid special thanks to Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI) for collaborating with the newly developed Faculty of Education, International Islamic University Islamabad.
He added that dialogue provides guidelines to the scholars to select / identify key areas required in research. Dr. Jumani also said that IIUI administration is working day and night under the leadership of President, IIUI H.E. Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi to serve the Muslim World.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar, Dean Faculty of Education said that that overall, this Grand National Dialogue has achieved its objectives and Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI) and Faculty of Education are on single page, regarding promotion of peace and dissemination of the quality education. Dr. Sarwar appreciated faculty and staff members for organizing the series of seminars on the occasion. Dr. Azhar Mahmood also mentioned the basic purpose of Grand National Dialogue (GND) to highlight the key issues in the education sector and finding solutions in this regard.
ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION ON SUSTAINABLE EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
A Round Table Discussion which is the second event of the series on Grand National Dialogue that spotlights Sustainable Educational Development was organized by the Faculty of Education International Islamic University Islamabad, Pakistan and Islamabad Policy Research Institute on Tuesday in Allama Iqbal Auditorium, International Islamic University Islamabad.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Additional Secretary, Wasim Jamal highlighted the importance of access to education and mentioned important challenges like learning crises, and the need to focus on graduate attributes, skills development, educational reforms and quality education.
He said that the budget for education has been increased but still there is more to be done on the financial part. Stressing the importance of skills, he said blended education is the need of the hour, while he also apprised of the Initiatives taken by the ministry. He also discussed the issues of access and out of school children.
The seminar was also addressed by Brig R Rashid Wali Janjua, Director Research and Analysis, Islamabad Policy Research Institute who said that equal opportunity to education in the country is dire need adding that females have fewer opportunities and same is the case with citizens of rural areas. He called for an integrated approach suggesting that Madrassah students must be integrated. He mentioned details of Grand National Dialogues and the importance of dialogues.
The participants also showed concern towards out of school children, mentioning that around 20 million children between ages of 5-16 years are out of school, while the Gender Disparity in literacy rate is evident with male literacy rate being 73.4 percent and female literacy lingering at 51.9 per cent.
Vice President A & F Dr. N.B. Jumani who was representing the President, IIUI, thanked the secretary for his time and insightful thoughts and IPRI for collaboration. He stressed the need of Dialogues for improving the practices. He also elaborated the initiatives, activities and scope of the constituent units of university. He mentioned the key initiatives such as Paigham e Pakistan of IRI, training programs of Dawah Academy and Shariah Academy and dialogue activities by IRD. Dr Shamsa Aziz, Chairperson Faculty of education female campus thanked the panelists and participants for contribution.
Earlier, Dean Education Muhammad Sarwar, apprised of the goals of and objectives of the activity. He highlighted the importance of policy making and prioritizing the sustainable goals for development of the education system.

The recommendations of the Round tables discussions on Grand National Dialogue on Sustainable Educational Development were presented in the concluding ceremony. The Dean, FoE said that it is not only an integral part of sustainable development, but also a key enabler for it.

The Research Proposals of PhD Education Scholars (Male & Female) and scheme of studies were discussed. Dr. Shamsa Aziz, Associate Professor/Chairperson, Department of Teacher Education, IIUI and Dr. Azhar Mahmood, Associate Professor/Chairperson, Department of Educational Leadership, IIUI presented the agenda items related to both Departments. The members and research supervisors were also present.
The experts appreciated the efforts of the Faculty of Education and provided constructive feedback on the agenda items. The Dean, Faculty of Education mentioned that the quality assurance will be the first priority of the Faculty.
FACULTY OF EDUCATION, IIUI HOLDS SEMINAR ON SUSTAINABLE EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
A Seminar on Sustainable Educational Development, as part of Grand National Dialogue Series, a joint venture of International Islamic University, Islamabad and Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI) was held on Monday in Allama Iqbal Auditorium, Faisal Masjid Campus of the university.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Amb. Dr. Raza Muhammad President, IPRI mentioned details of Grand National Dialogues and various collaborators who have worked so far. He showed his concern towards out of school children mentioning that around 20 million children between ages of 5-16 years are out of school, while the Gender Disparity in literacy rate is evident with male literacy rate being 73.4 per cent and the female literacy lingering at 51.9 per cent.
Prof Dr N. B. Jumani the chief guest of the ceremony who was representing the President, IIUI mentioned that it is a step towards making local action and moving towards people action afterwards. He stressed the need of Dialogues in all fields like sciences, technology, management and economics focusing on all GDGs.
Earlier, the seminar started with recitation, followed by the introduction of the seminar by Dr Azhar Mehmood, Chairperson Department of Educational Leadership and Management. In opening remarks Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar, Dean Faculty of Education discussed education as an essential component of human security matrix. But the indices of education in Pakistan portray a bleak picture.
The session of “Higher Education & Sustainable Development” was moderated by Dr. shamsa Aziz and the speakers included Prof. Dr. Maryam Chughtai (Director, National Curriculum Council of Pakistan), Prof. Dr. Abdul Rasheed (DG, International Institute of Islamic Economics, IIUI), Mr. Waseem Gohar (Public Policy Expert & Secretary, National Assembly Special Committee on Agricultural Products). Second session was on theme “Education & Peace Building in Youth” whereas the speakers included Prof. Dr. Munawar S. Mirza (Prof. Emeritus, University of the Punjab), Prof. Dr. Rafqat Ali Akbar (Prof./Director, IER, University of the Punjab) and Prof. Dr. Bakare Najimudeen (Institute of Peace & Conflict Studies, NUST) which was moderated by Dr Muhammad Nasir Khan. The third session was on “Education & Emerging Needs of Society” which was moderated by Dr Rabia Ali. The speakers included Prof. Dr. Haroona Jatoi (Former Joint Education Advisor, Curriculum Wing, Islamabad), Prof. Dr. Riaz ul Haq Tariq (Ex- Chairman National Accreditation Council for Teacher Education, NACTE) and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zaman (School of Sociology, Quaid e Azam University, Islamabad).
The recommendations of the Seminar on Grand National Dialogue on Sustainable Educational Development were presented in the closing ceremony. The Dean, FoE said that these will contribute to future policy decisions to link SDGs with the country vision for future plans and programs leading to sustainable Educational development.
In the closing remarks Prof Dr N B Jumani (Vice President A&F), IIUI appreciated the efforts of the team and thanked the IPRI for the collaboration. He stressed on the way forward and emphasized the concept of sustainability as tool for educational development along with role of universities in knowledge generation.

MEETING FOR ASSIGNING COURSE CODES HELD ON OCTOBER 13, 2022
A meeting for assigning course codes according to new format was organized by Office of the Dean Faculty of Education was held on October 13, 2022 at 12:45 pm in the Office of the Dean Faculty of Education. Dr. Zarina Akhtar In charge Quality, Development in Higher Studies, chaired the meeting. Meeting was started with welcome note by the Cahir. Dr Zahid Mehmood from FoC, Mr. Muhammad Usaid Hasan (Assistant Director) from QAD, Dr. Shazia Naureen (In-Charge Academic Affairs) from Department of Educational Leadership and Management and Dr. Alina (In-Charge Academic Affairs) from Department of Teacher Education attended the meeting.
Students of MA Education 2nd semester arranged a seminar to highlight the problems of teachers and students in teaching and learning Mathematics. All students selected different papers and presented. The selected papers are presented in the seminar, analyzed and concluded which problems students faced all over the world and what measures taken to solve it?
Teachers’ Day Celeberations at Faculty of Education (Female Campus)
Teachers are the foundation of society; they are keystone of the nation and an inspiration for young generations. World Teachers’ Day is celebrated to honour teachers for their accomplishments, efforts, and contribution to society as well as to the lives of their students. Keeping in view the significance of the day, Faculty of Education (Female Campus) enthusiastically celebrated this annual event. Students of BS Education and B.Ed (Elementary) stunningly embellished the reception areas of Fatima-tuz-Zahra, Ayesha and Marium Block and greeted the teachers. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar (Dean Faculty of Education), Dr. Shamsa Aziz (Chairperson, Department of Teacher Education), Dr. Azhar Mahmood (Chairperson, Department of Leadership and Management), inaugurated the stalls of different blocks. Prof. Samina Malik (Vice President Female Campus) and Dr. Sumayya Chughtai, (Student advisor Female Campus) also graced the event and acknowledged the efforts of students. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar, appreciated the coordinated efforts of students and opined them with fruitful words that, the teachers teach for the outcome in the form of students’ bright future. Teachers should be respected, because they uphold the students by acting as a source of inspiration for the students and nurture their success and capacity to understand the life. It was largely participated by all faculty members of various faculties of the of Female Campus.

Dr. Muhammad Nasir Khan published book on Self-awareness in Education: Peace Phenomena for School Education” in August 2022.
Another book of Dr. Muhammad Nasir Khan, Faculty of Education, International Islamic University Islamabad is published with Benjamin Academic Publishing, Holland. The book highlights the role of education in enhancing self-awareness in the students.
Celebration of Teacher’s Day at Faculty of Education (Male Campus)
Teacher’s Day was celebrated at the Faculty of Education (male campus). Students of Faculty of Education actively participated in the program and saluted the teachers. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar, Dean, Faculty of Education, was the guest of honor in the program. The program was chaired by Dr. Azhar Mehmood, Chairman, Department of Educational Leadership and Management and Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, In-charge, Department of Teacher Education (male campus). Dr. Sheikh Tariq Mehmood and Dr. Muhammad Nasir Khan were also present in the program. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar motivated the students for learning the respect of parents and teachers in a real sense. He briefed the students to focus on their study and to achieve their goals in life for the sustainable development. He appreciated the students for arranging such a successful program in the honor of teachers.
Dr. Azhar Mehmood addressed the students for their active participation in academic activities. Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal encouraged the students in promoting their positive role in society. He also appreciated the contributions of students in arranging such a comprehensive programs in the honor of teachers. Dr. Sheikh Tariq Mehmood talked on contributions of parents and teachers for preparing the youth as an asset. Dr. Muhammad Nasir Khan spoke on motivating the students to learn discipline of life. Dr. Khan inspired the students to think about their contributions in overcoming the economic and social challenges in our society.
Orientation Session for Newly Enrolled Students in Faculty of Education
Faculty of Education (Female Campus), International Islamic University Islamabad, organized an orientation session for the newly enrolled Students of BS and PhD Education. It was attended by all faculty members of FoE. Session started with the Recitation of Holy Quran. Dr. Alina Raza (Teaching Research Associate, FoE) discussed a detailed introduction of IIUI by video documentary and highlighted various academic activities (Conferences, Seminars , Workshops, Journals and Magazine) managed by the FoE.
Ms. Sumaira Batool (Teaching Research Associate, FoE) imparted the comprehensive instructions regarding rules and regulations of university with reference to course registration process, attendance policies, grading criteria, scholarship resources and co-curricular activities. She further encouraged the students for their maximum participation in activities for effective personality development.
Dr. Azhar Mahmood (Chairperson, Department of Education), warmly welcomed the new students. He emphasized on the development of moral values, character building, sense of loyalty and honesty in the students which expressively helps in developing a winning personality.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar (Dean FoE) graced the session and said in his remarkable words that, education is a lifelong pursuit that can have a significant impact on your present and future and when you invest on education it can change your life and provide better career opportunities through critical thinking and skill development. At, the end he wished for the bright future ahead and appreciated faculty members and students for organizing meaningful session.

A meeting of the Board of Studies of Department of Education was held in Seminar Room of Fatima Tuz Zahra Block, Female Campus. Chairperson Dr. Azhar Mahmood, chaired the meeting. Prof. Dr. Nabi Bux Jumani, Vice President (A&F), IIUI and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar, Dean Faculty of Education, IIUI attended the meeting along with external subject experts.
Scheme of Studies of MS Teacher Education, MS Educational Leadership and Management, BS in Education with English Language Teaching, BS in Education with Educational Leadership and Management, and BS in Education with ICT Programs were approved along with research proposals.
The external members appreciated the efforts of the senior members of the Department in this regard and congratulated on the establishment of the Faculty of Education. Vice President (A&F) appreciated the working of committees and the quality of initiatives being taken in different aspects.

The external experts for the meeting included Prof. Dr. Javid Iqbal, Mohi-Din Islamic University Islamabad, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar, University of Sargodha, Prof. Dr. Fazal ur Rehman, Allama Iqbal Open University Islamabad and Dr. Wajeeha Shahid, Associate Professor/Chairperson DoE, NUML Islamabad. Conference Report – 5th International Conference on Future of Education 2022
The 5th International Conference on Future of Education 2022 was the latest milestone in the series of conferences held on 16th – 17th June, 2022. The Department of Education, Faculty of Social Sciences, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) collaborated as an Academic Partner with the International Institute of Knowledge Management (TIIKM). The theme of this virtual conference was “Pedagogical Innovations During the Pandemic” and “Educational Innovations: The Future of Education”.
The main objective was empowering scholars, researchers, educators, students, professionals, and other groups to collaborate, innovate and help to shape the Future of Education. Therefore, Future of Education 2022 provided a platform for diverse researches and case studies from all over the world, in parallel sessions while offering many networking and publishing opportunities. Thus, this great initiative was finally put into practice by the collaborative faculty efforts of Department of Education. Indeed, a new history of possibilities is created by team work.
This great idea of academic collaboration was floated by Prof. Dr. Nabi Bux Jumani, (Vice President Administration and Finance, IIUI). The conference officially started with the launch of FOE 2022 and academic partners’ speeches where Dr. Zafar Iqbal (Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, IIUI) represented International Islamic University Islamabad. Moreover, valuable keynote speeches were delivered by Prof. Dr. Nabi Bux Jumani (Vice President, Administration, Finance, and Planning, IIUI) and Prof. Dr. Samina Malik (Vice President (Female Campus) IIUI) on the topics Issues in Shifting Traditional Teaching to Online Teaching During COVID-19 and Teachers’ and Learners’ Engagement during Pandemic: Prospects and Challenges” respectively.
The latest trends and challenges in the field at this leading virtual conference were set with the synergetic efforts of Dr. Shazia Naureen (Chairperson Department of Education) with the corporative endeavor of TIIKM and Future of Education FOE team members. As of the conference achievements are concerned, International Islamic University Islamabad had been recognized as one of the prestigious academic partners of TIIKM.
Moving on, almost 22 diverse sessions were jointly chaired by Dr. Azhar Mahmood (Chairperson Department of Education, Male Campus), Dr. Shazia Naureen (Chairperson Department of Education, Female Campus), and Dr. Shamsa Aziz (Associate Professor, Department of Education). There were 15 paper presentations from IIUI.
Mehr Aymen Shakoor (MS Scholar) was recognized and awarded as the best Presenter among all the presenters of this International Conference from 16 countries.
In addition, all the MS Scholars, PhD Scholars and Faculty members participated as keynote speakers, panelists and paper presenters in the FOE conference 2022 with enthusiasm. Our success is dedicated to our hardworking leadership, faculty and students.
Workshop on National Professional Standards for Teachers
Quality assurance requires professional standards of teacher education and an effective mechanism of accreditation of teacher education institution and program. A world class education is not possible without world class teacher. Quality learning is contingent upon the quality teaching by professionals who are dedicated to the continuous professional development. Keeping in view the professional development of teacher’s workshop was organized by MS Scholars F-21 on National Professional Standards for Teachers (NPSTs), developed by Policy and Planning Wing, Ministry of Education, Government of Pakistan.
The workshop was organized under the supervision of Dr. Fouzia Ajmal (Assistant Professor, Department of Education).
The workshop was arranged for the undergraduate students of B.ED program. The purpose of the workshop was to create awareness among the students regarding the continuous professional development being a teacher according to the National Professional Standards for Teachers (NPSTs).
Dr. Shazia Naureen (Incharge, Department of Education) encouraged the students by appreciating their efforts and zeal. The workshop remained interactive and the participants were engaged in various activities.
Seminar on Educational Research by Department of Education
The Department of Education, Faculty of Social Sciences, International Islamic University Islamabad has organized a seminar on Research Methods in Education. Seminar was organized by PhD scholars under the supervision of Dr. Azhar Mahmood, Chairman Department of Education which was aimed to discuss the importance of research at higher education level. The guest of honor was Dr. Hukam Dad Malik, from the Department of Education NUML University Islamabad who talked about the importance of research in education. Whereas, chief guest of this seminar was Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, International Islamic University Islamabad, who explained the values of education and the responsibilities of an educated person as a good citizen. Muhammad Ehsan, Razzaq Ahmad, Muhammad Nadil Ali, and Safeer Ijaz Ph.D scholars presented their research topics like quantitative research, qualitative research and mixed -methods research.
At the end of seminar, Dr. Azhar Mahmood, Associate Professor/Chairman, Department of Education appreciated the enthusiasm and participatory spirit of students. He also motivated students to identify emerging areas of research particularly keeping in view the demand of twenty-first century. PhD scholars of batch F21 Department of Education (F) conducted series of 5 seminars on 10th, 17th and 24th May under the supervision of their course instructor (Seminar in Educational Research) Dr. Shamsa Aziz, Associate Professor.

Keeping in view the prominence of research proposal, Department of Education (Female Campus) organized the seminar on “Developing Research Proposal for MS/PhD research scholars in seminar room Fatima-tuz-Zahra Block. Dr. Fouzia Ajmal (Assistant Professor, Department of Education) graced the seminar as resource person. She elaborated all the steps of research proposal (Gape identification, Problem statement, Rationale, Methodology etc.). The participants demonstrated great interest and involvement and made the session interactive. Faculty members (Department of Education) also attended the seminar. Dr. Shazia Naureen (Incharge, Department of Education) appreciated the anthuisiam of the students. She motivated students to identify new emerging areas of research.
Training Sessions on Program and Course Review and Teaching Quality
IIUI has developed new strategic plan and quality of teaching and learning is the main focus of it. Performa for program specification and course specification developed by QAD were discussed in detail in two separate sessions for regular and visiting faculty members organized by Department of Education (Female Campus).
Dr. Shazia Naureen (Incharge, Department of Education) briefed about the strategic plan and provided orientation about the teaching quality and guided the faculty members about meeting the deadlines. Dr. Fouzia Ajmal (Assistant Professor) briefed the faculty members about the program specifications with reference to Higher Education Commission’s guidelines and the scope of the program. Both resource persons focused on curriculum (semester wise program study plan), Program Learning Outcomes Mapping Matrix (according to accreditation council), aspects on quality of teaching and learning. Furthermore, detailed description regarding alignment of course objectives, learning outcomes and assessment strategies for course specification were shared with the faculty members.
Research Seminars are conducted to initiate the aims to develop and instill a culture of research. Keeping in view the significance of research seminars, MS scholars of the Department of Education (Female Campus) organized a seminar to present their research projects on innovative areas of Teacher Education and Leadership under supervision of Dr. Shamsa Aziz (Associate Professor, Department of Education).
Purpose of the seminar was to promote research innovation in specialized areas. Faculty members of the Department also attended the seminar to encourage the scholars by appreciating their research work. Scholars were also advised to focus on research findings by emphasizing on the practical applications of their researches.
The Department of Education (Female Campus), organized a research activity at the Graduate level entitled “Insight into Undergraduate Research Proposals” . Objective of the activity was to engage students actively in research culture. Students of the BS Education (Sixth semester) displayed and demonstrate their research posters in the Department of Education.
The research proposal was developed under the supervision of Ms. Kainat (Visiting Teacher). The posters were underlined with the insight information on their research proposals.
Dr. ShaziaNaureen (Incharge Department of Education) appreciated the clarity of their concept and highlighted that the command of students on research proposals illustrate their efforts carried out the whole semester.
The exhibition was also appreciated by the faculty members and visitors.
International Seminar on Blended Learning: A Paradigm Shift in Connection with 42nd Anniversary of IIUI
An international seminar on Blended Learning: A Paradigm Shift, was organized by the Department of Education at Female Campus (Auditorium Fatima- tu -Zahra Block) of university in which national and international speakers participated and addressed the faculty members and students.
Dr. Shazia Naureen (In-charge, Department of Education Female Campus), Chaired the seminar. In her welcome address, she highlighted the significance of blended learning as it connects the faculty and students through technology. Prof. Dr. N. B. Jumani, Vice President (A&F) IIUI joined the seminar as Chief Guest and briefed about the need, scope, challenges of blended learning and importance of MOOC application. Dr. Mohammad Zafar Iqbal (Dean, FSS) emphasized that the, Education is a platform that can break all barriers by allowing us to discover and explore our limits in the societal adjustment through character building. There is need to develop critical thinking skills among the students to make them able to differentiate between right and wrong.
Mr. Qaiser Rashid, (Resource person & CEO, Talent International Institute of New Zealand), directed the participants about sources of online knowledge and its relation with educational objectives for achievements. He talked about three components of blended learning, Delivering, Assessment and Quality control. Dr. Nasir Mahmood (Resource Person and Dean Faculty of Education, AIOU), enlightened the audience with Authenticity of Online Assessment: A paradigm shift, philosophical, professional, conduct levels and competencies required for effectiveness of online assessment. Prof. Dr.Samina Malik (VP, Female Campus) joined as guest of honour and she appreciated the efforts of the organizer and students of Department of education for conducting this seminar. She thanked all the speakers for joining this occasion and gave a special thanks to all the faculty members of the department of education by presenting shields and certificates.
Miss Memoona BiBi,( PhD Scholar) Department of Education, International Islamic University Islamabad has been appointed as Program Manager at National Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (NACTE) Islamabad. She has done BS and MS from the Department of Education and now waiting for her PhD defense. Her area of specialization is Teacher Education and she has numerous publications in HEC recognized journals. She remained an active student and research scholar throughout her academic career. She has a continuous participation in many national and international conferences and seminars organized by Department of Education, IIUI. We all wish her best of luck for her success.
INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR ON CHANGING PARADIGM OF CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT
An International Seminar on Changing Paradigm of Curriculum Development was organized by Department of Education at New Campus of the University in which National and International speakers participated.
It was attended byProf. Dr. N.B. Jumani, Vice President (A&F), Prof. Dr. Samina Malik Vice President (Female Campus), Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences and other faculty members.
Addressing the participants of seminar, Prof. Dr. Jumani briefed about the need and importance of holding such seminars in view of the existing challenges of curriculum.
Prof. Dr. Samina Malik appreciated the team on arranging the seminar while, Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal briefed about the learning needs for the sustainable development of the society. Dr Azhar Mahmood, Chairman Department of Education focused on the different aspects of curriculum. Dr. Ismail MD. Zain from Malaysia addressed on the need and importance of instructional design for the implementation of curriculum. Prof. Mohamed Ismail from Sri Lanka briefed about the curriculum reforms in view of challenges in 21st century. Dr. Payal Chandel briefed about the importance of curriculum reforms for the national integrity.

Teachers’ day is celebrated every year on October 5th since 1954 in all over the world. Department of Education, Female campus organized the ceremony to celebrate this annual event. Students of BS Education (5th semester) MS Education (1st semester) decorated the reception area of Fatima-tu-Zahra and greet the teachers warmly with flowers, badges and cards. Keeping in view the significance of effective CV writing Department of Education (female campus), has organized a seminar on effective CV writing for students of last semesters of BS & MA Education programs. Mr. Amir Shahzad, (visiting lecturer) graced the seminar as resource person. He highlighted on different types of CV, importance of cover letter of CV, goals of CV and numerous worth while components need to consider while writing CV by the candidate. Students participated in the session very enthusiastically and learned essential skills to designate their potentials in job market. Dr. ShaziaNaureen, (Incharge, Department of Education) emphasized that CV is a detailed compilation of your education, work experience, credentials, and accomplishments that is used to apply for jobs. It is one of the most important pieces of any job application. The interactive seminar was ended with the question/answers session.
International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender disparity. In connection with the World Women’s Day, Islamabad Chamber and Commerce Industries (ICCI) has organized one day seminar on “Opportunities for Pak Women in the Business†Teachers and students form different universities also participated. Furthermore, SardarYasir lliyas Khan, (President of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce), launched the ICCI digital portal and highlighted its effectiveness for online business by Pakistani women.
Students of Department of Education (female), also attended the occasion along with the focal person Ms. Rabia Mumtaz (Teaching/Research Associate). Eminent women from different walks of life also graced the event and shared their success stories. Khayal Baig, (High Altitude Mountaineer), the first and youngest female to hiked the Everest. She inspired the participants about her journey. Dr. Sania Nishtar (Senator), has been super-heading transformative Ehsas poverty alleviation programme which has improved the livelihoods of millions of Muslims. She globally addressed the Gender Discrepancies and for the promotion of Legal, Economic and Social Empowerment of Women. Similarly, Elizebth Rai (upcoming singer), Salma Marwat Khan (Female Rally Driver) and Nasira ( a food vendor) shared their treasured experiences and encouraged the participants.

Department of Education, (Female Campus) International Islamic University Islamabad has organized orientation sessions for the newly enrolled students in PhD, MS, MA andBS programs for the semester fall-2020.Sessions were distinctly arranged in the classrooms keeping in view SOP’s for COVID-19. Dr. Shamsa Aziz Chairperson (Department of Education), delivered welcome note and presented a comprehensive overview about the salient features of thedepartmentnorms, values and future prospects of getting admission in IIUI. 02 Journals of Department of Education upgraded to Y Category by Higher Education Commission Pakistan
Journal ranking is widely used in academic circles in the evaluation of an academic journal’s impact and quality. Journal rankings are intended to reflect the place of a journal within its field, the relative difficulty of being published in that journal, and the prestige associated with it. They have been introduced as official research evaluation tools. HEC has been endeavoring to raise the quality of research in Pakistan to an international level. Research journals are excellent tools to enhance research capabilities. It has been decided to approve and upgrade those research journals which meet the HEC criteria for recognized journals.
Different lists have been approved for different purposes and different time frames; and are applicable only within the given framework. Higher Education Commission of Pakistan in its meeting of ‘Experts Committee’ for Evaluation of Social Sciences Journals held on February 20-21,2020 has unanimously decided to upgrade both journals of Department of Education namely “International Journal of Innovation in Teaching and Learning (IJITL)†& “International Journal of Distance Education and E-Learning (IJDEEL)†from ‘Z’ to ‘Y’ category.Prof. Dr. Samina Malik is editor of IJITL while Prof. Dr. N. B. Jumani is editor of IJDEEL. The editorial team include Dr. Azhar Mahmood, Ms. HumairaAkram and Dr. FouziaAjmal.Both the journals are internationally indexed. The journal publications will be valid for promotion/appointments on BPS and PhD requirements. It is an unprovoked witness of aggrandizement of the department, says the Worthy President, IIUI.
Orientation Session for Online Classes on Google Meet
Department of Education (Female Campus) has organized the orientation session for its students to facilitate them regarding attending online classes via Google Classroom/hangout sessions. Sessions (1, 2 & 3) were arranged on 5-6 June, 2020, for the programs BS1st – BS4th, BS 5th – 8th with B.ED and PhD with MA respectively. Ms. AlinaRaza (Teaching Research Associate, Department of Education), welcomed the students and trained them regarding, google docs. , stream, google hangouts and strategies for assignments submission through comprehensive video. Program coordinators, Dr. Shazia Naureeen and Dr. ZarinaAkhtar also attended the session. Furthermore, Dr. Shamsa Aziz (Chairperson, Department of Education), highlighted that google classroom provides the unique exposure to online learning platform during COVID-19. Students can’t lose work if they don’t physically have their presence. She encouraged the students to make technology as user friendly and using google classroom is worthwhile and it prepares our students for better future.

Department of Education (female campus) International Islamic University organized a seminar on “APA Referencing Styleâ€ÂÂÂÂ. APA is a method and formatting of referencing works in papers and manuscript. Dr. Munazza Mahmood, Assistant Professor, (Department of Education) served as resource person. She delivered comprehensive lecture on APA Referencing style used for text and bibliographic citations in research. She highlighted all the instructions used for referencing the articles, books, reports, internet resources followed by APA (6th edition). Research students of MS, PhD and faculty members of department of education attended the seminar. Dr. Shamsa Aziz chairperson department of Education acknowledged the contribution of the resource person and mentioned that APA referencing style emphasizes on honest acknowledgment of sources used and its publication.

Focus Group Discussion/Seminar on Competencies of Teacher Educators at IIUI
The effectiveness of teacher training programs is to overcome the gap between theory as well as practice delivered to prospective teachers. Department of Education, International Islamic University, Islamabad takes initiatives for addressing the challenges of teacher education by exploring ways to improve the scenarios of teacher educators’ professional development and improving the quality of teacher educators training programs. A focus group discussion/seminar was arranged by Department of Education on “Evaluation of the Competencies of Teacher Educators in Pakistan†at Old Campus IIUI on 21st February 2020.
Prof. Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al Draiweesh, Worthy President, IIUI was the Chief Guest in the seminar. The focus of discussion was to evaluate the existing situation of competencies of teacher educators in Pakistan keeping in view the international standards and to provide the recommendations for the improvement in the field of teacher education. Award of 02 Tablets for top position holders of PRP Scholarship Awardees (B.Ed Elementary Education)
The Department of Education, Faculty of Social Sciences is a partner of USAID’s Pakistan Reading Project (PRP) regarding Pre-Service Teacher Education Programmes. There have been capacity building programmes for the faculty members under this partnership. Associate Degree in Education and B.Ed Elementary students of the Department had got scholarships also.
With reference to the scholarship awards of B.Ed Elementary students of Fall 2013 batch by USAID PRP Project, the management of PRP Scholarship program has awarded 02 tablets (one for each) to high achievers/top two students (scholarship recipients) who successfully completed B.Ed. (Hons.) program. The recipients were Syed Babar Khurshid and Samia Kanwal. The tablets were distributed to them in a ceremony presided by Worthy President, IIUI. The ceremony was attended by the representative of Pakistan Reading Project also. The President, IIUI and theDean, Faculty of Social Sciences appreciated Prof. Dr. N. B. Dr. Shamsa Aziz Chairperson, (Department of Education) delivered welcome note and presented a comprehensive overview about the salient features of the department, norms, values and future prospects of getting admission in IIUI. Furthermore, she emphasized on code of conduct and ethics in students to maintain a constructive approach and cordial attitude towards their teachers, peers and support staff. Department of Education Launches Outreach Teacher Training Program
Department of Education has launched an outreach program for private school teachers training. Faculty members of Department of Education including Dr. Sheikh Tariq Mehmood and Dr.Asad Abbas Rizvi trained the teachers of private schools in DhokHassu, Rawalpindi. School teachers were trained on innovative dimensions of professional development. Dr. Asad Abbas Rizvi delivered lecture on Assessment while Dr. Sheikh Tariq Mehmood delivered lecture on national professional Standards. Participants and administration of private schools acknowledged the services of International Islamic University services towards the community.
Dengue Awareness Walk arranged by Department of Education, IIUI
BS and master students of the Department of Education, male campus organized a dengue awareness walk at the male campus of IIUI on 14 October 2019. The basic objectives of the walk was to promote the awareness about the students about dengue fever and preventions. Overseas students of the department of education also participated in the walk. Dr. Muhammad Nasir Khan, Department of Education, leaded the walk and briefed the students that it is our collective responsibility to keep environment clean and safe from mosquitoes which is the basic reason for dengue.
Participation in Kamyab Jawan Prime Minister Program
Master and BS students of Department of Education participated in, “Kamyab Jawan Prime Minister Program†at Jinnah Convention Centre, Islamabad on 17th October, 2019. 24 male students participated in the said program in the supervision of Dr. Muhammad Nasir Khan.
Dr. Syed Asad Abbas Rizvi Completes KAICIID International Fellows First Training 2019
Dr. Syed Asad Abbas Rizvi, Assistant Professor, Department of Education, Faculty of Social- Sciences, IIUI completed his first training at KAICIID headquarters, Vienna and have returned with new academic impressions and inspiration in promoting dialogue for peace in communities.
During his time at KAICIID, Vienna, Austria, the diverse group of religious leaders and scholars learned to enhance and improve their interreligious work, held interreligious dialogue amongst themselves, shared his experiences, and discussed how dialogue can promote peace.
Members of this cohort, who spent 20 to 27 January in a snowy Vienna, Austria, came from Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim, Taoist, and Yazidi traditions and represented 15 countries. Many of the Fellows were dialogue practitioners, but for some, this was their first experience to meet and befriend people of different religions traditions.
Lecture of Dr. Muhamad Nanang Suprayoi at Department of Education, IIUI
Dr. Muhamad Nanang Suprayoi delivered lecture on the trends and practices of research in the field of education in European countries. He was welcomed by the faculty members of Department of Education, IIUI. Dr. Dr. Suprayoi is an Indonesian Educationist and is research coordinator at Binus University, Jakarta, Indonesia. He completed his doctoral research project at University of Ghent, Belgium. Prof. Dr .N. B. Jumani and Dr. M. Munir Kayani thanked to Dr. Superayoi for his visit and lecture to the faculty members.
Teachers’ Day Celebration
Teachers are the foundation of society; they are a keystone of the nation and an inspiration for young generations. Teachers’ day is celebrated every year on October 5th since 1954 in all over the world. Department of Education, Female campus organized the ceremony to celebrate this annual event. Students of MA Education 3rdsemesterdecorated receptions of Fatima-tu-Zahra block and Maryam block and greet teachers warmly with flowers, badges and cards. Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Samina Malik inaugurated the event and acknowledged the efforts of students. It was largely participated by Dr. Naureen Sehar (Chairperson, Department of Anthroplogy), Dr. Rabia Gull (Chairperson, Department of Sociology) and faculty members of Department of Education. Furthermore, students presented skits and speeches in auditorium to highlight worth and significance of teachers. Dr. Shamsa Aziz, (Chairperson, Department of Education) appreciated the determination and enthusiasm of students of MA Education 3rdsemester.
Orientation Session for Newly Enrolled Students in Department of Education
Department of Education, (Female Campus) International Islamic University Islamabad has organized an orientation session for the newly enrolled students in PhD, MA, B.Ed and BS programs on 17-9-2019 at 11:30am in Auditorium Fatima Block. Dr. Shamsa Aziz Chairperson, (Department of Education) delivered welcome note and presented a comprehensive overview about the salient features of the department’ norms, values and future prospects of getting admission in IIUI.
Furthermore, she emphasized on code of conduct and ethics in students to maintain a constructive approach and cordial attitude towards their teachers, peers and support staff. She said student need to ensure that they do not become involved in or encourage discrimination against or harassment or bullying of employees, honorary appointees, consultants, contractors, volunteers any other members of the public or other students. Education is tool of change. So education is useless if it does not create change in people and society and for this purpose it is necessary that we should give awareness of Islamic values to them through education. She also delivered a brief lecture on moral lesson and ethics. And she also explained the meaning of national anthem and patriotism.
Mr. Ubaidullah (Lincoln Corner Central Library), Ms. Sadia Shaique (Admission Section), Ms. Samreen (Exam Section), Ms.Nazia Rafique (Accounts & Fee Section), Ms. Irum (Student Advisor Office) provided detailed information and related guidelines about central library, students’ activities, accounts, course joining and exam section of the university respectively. Department of Education appreciated the representatives of different departments and faculty members for their participation in this orientation session and making this effort valuable for the students.
In the end Dr Shamsa Aziz along with all the faculty members and students recited national anthem.
TWO DAY INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR ON CHALLENGES OF NATION AND EDUCATION SYSTEM
Two day international seminar titled “Challenges of Nation and Education System†was held on 13-14 May 2019 at Iqbal Auditorium, Faisal Masjid Campus. This research seminar highlighted national challenges/ issues and role of education in addressing these challenges with subthemes: emerging needs and importance of moral education, sustainable development and national prosperity, competition at global level: knowledge economies, ways to improve assessment and evaluation system
Prof. Dr. Ahmed Yousif A. Al-Draiweesh, President IIUI chaired opening ceremony of the seminar. He acknowledged the contribution of Department of Education by conducting such type of wonderful seminars. He said that he is delighted to see the efforts of Department of Education to organize the national and international seminars and conferences to highlight the burning issues, challenges in the field of education. He emphasized that with madrassa education some subjects related to society and education must be added and there should not be any discrimination between the individual who has studied from madrassa and the one has studied from university.
Prof. Dr. Samina Malik, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences highlighted challenges of nation and education system, the needs of society for enhancing quality and demands of education. She emphasized on the inputs and interventions needed to boost up overall capacities of youth as constructive individuals of the society.
Prof. Dr. N. B. Jumani, discussed strategies to combat challenges of education system. He also discussed the role of higher education institutions in satisfying the current needs of youth, fulfilling societal needs and relevance of students’ qualification with the current demands of the society.
Dr. Waseem Malik from York University, Canada discussed “Education and Development: Politics of Knowledgeâ€ÂÂÂÂ. He viewed Education and its accessibility as an indicator of success, equality, justice, agency and activism. Education provides employment and it has turned into largest single industry which includes teachers, professors, teaching assistant, researchers, administrators, custodial people, psych & social workers and much more, he added.
Prof. Dr. Anjum Bano Kazimi from Iqra University, Karachi elaborated “ways to ensure effective monitoring system in educational institutionsâ€ÂÂÂÂ. She said that for ensuring monitoring, efficient coordination amongest all departments and stakeholders at all levels is one of the pre-requisite. Moreover, she stressed on; strengthening national M&E coordination bodies with mandate and authority, enhancing institutional and individual capacity at all levels and ensuring transparency and accountability of system as recommendations.
Prof. Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad Baig from University of Lahore talked about “Assessment & Evaluation for improving Educationâ€ÂÂÂÂ. He suggested to; adopt new trends and themes of assessment and evaluation in education to achieve the international standard of education, articulate educational goals (both general and specific) more clearly on the basis of assessment and evaluation results, evolve continuous and fair assessment and evaluation which prepares students for the life skills and revise curriculum on the basis of assessment and evaluation results, in order to evince explicitly desired competences, rather than just course objectives. Dr. Irshad Hussain from Islamia University of Bahawalpur discussed “Need and Importance of Moral Educationâ€ÂÂÂÂ. He said that moral education is important as it teaches diversity, tolerance, mutual respect and pluralistic values. Moral Education equips learners with tools of judgment in various situations leading to making responsible choices and decisions. Therefore, moral education should be an integral part of the school and college curriculum, he added. Dr. Khalid Khurshid from Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan delivered talk on “Importance of Sustainable Developmentâ€ÂÂÂÂ. He also explained Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) devised by UNESCO. While discussing challenges to sustainable development he said Poverty, Unemployment, Climate change, Conflicts and humanitarian aid, Building peaceful and inclusive societies, Building strong institutions of governance, Supporting the rule of law are global in character. A country’s economy becomes more productive as the proportion of educated workers increases, he said. Prof. Dr. Riaz-ul-Haq Tariq from National Accreditation Council for Teacher Education, Lahore talked about “Challenges of Higher Education in Pakistan: Personal Experiences and Viewpointâ€ÂÂÂÂ. He viewed that a good meaningful education is one that provides all learners with capabilities they require to become economically productive, develop sustainable livelihoods, contribute to peaceful living in global societies and enhance individual well-being. He also discussed attributes of graduates (Knowledge, Skills, Attitude and Values) pre-requisite for 21st century world. Prof. Dr. Rafaqat Ali Akbar from University of Punjab, Lahore deliberated on “Gender Disparity: the Challenge for Pakistanâ€ÂÂÂÂ. He also explained issues and challenges in gender disparity in education. While discussing suggestions to combat these challenges he suggested focusing on enrolling girls and children for disadvantaged groups, improving quality of education, making the system responsive to gender and social equity issues, elimination of Social Biases and motivating & training the teachers. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khan from IIUI talked about “Preparing Future Educational Leadership for Pakistanâ€ÂÂÂÂ. Education is the foundational tool to steer a nation towards economic and social development that makes the role of an Educational Leader phenomenal. Decisions of the leaders impact the life and future of generations to come; hence, setting them apart from other kinds of leadership roles that is mostly involved with the organization’s internal hierarchy, he added. Dr. Shamsa Aziz, Chairperson, Department of Education (Female Campus) shared initiatives of Department of Education. Dr. Muhammad Munir Kayani, Chairman, Department of Education (Male Campus) thanked keynote speakers, guests, Deans, Directors and Students for their participation in this seminar. It was 4th seminar in the series and rest of three were held in 2018. This interactive seminar was attended by Deans, Directors, Faculty members, Research Scholars and students of the varsity.
Training Sessions on Instructional Learning Outcomes and Assessment in the Classroom according to Bloom’s Taxonomy
Department of Education, International Islamic University Islamabad organized a two-day training session on “Instructional Learning Outcomes and Assessment in the Classroom according to Bloom’s Taxonomy” for the Faculty of Management Sciences in FMS seminar room faculty Block II, IIUI. This training was a part of the initiative taken by the Rector IIUI, Prof. Dr. MasoomYasinzai for the capacity building of university teachers in from of Faculty vise series of trainings. The major themes discussed in this workshop were: Bloom’s Taxonomy; writing instructional learning outcomes; aligning classroom activities with ILO’s and assessing student mastery of ILOs. Dr. Shamsa Aziz Chairperson, Department of Education, Dr. Fouzia Ajmal and Ms. Alina Raza were the resource persons of this workshop. All faculty members of the Faculty of Management Sciences attended the workshop. The session started with the welcome address of Dy. Dean (FMS) Dr. Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah. Dr. Shamsa Aziz shared the aims and objectives of this workshop, its significance and scope in our teaching profession and described in detail the procedure of writing instructional objectives, selecting appropriate teaching strategies and designing assessment activities keeping in view blooms taxonomy. The participants demonstrated great interest and involved in instructional activities, discussions and presentations throughout the workshop. The workshop was concluded by Dr. Shamsa Aziz with the vote of thanks and appreciation for the faculty members for their active participation.
Department of Education has organized the women’s day. Students of M.A Education 3rd semester systematized activities of the event in auditorium Fatima-tu-Zahra block. It was attended by faculty members of Department of Education, and Dr. Mamoona Ismail (Chairperson, Department of Psychology. Students exhibited their performances through skits, documentaries and poetries on female empowerment.
Event was also graced by Prof. Dr. Farkhnada Zia, (Vice President Female campus. She highlighted the role of women in Islam and saidequality amongst all human beings including women and men is a basic principle in Islam and is beautifully illustrated in numerous Quranic verses. Dr.Shamsa Aziz (Chairperson, Department of Education) expressed her views about rights and responsibilities of woman in Islam and highly appreciated the efforts of students.
Good presentation skills are important for effective academic skills. It improves the communication skills for classroom management. Keeping in view the significance of presentation skills, Department of Education organized competition on presentation skills in connection with cultural week activities spring 2019. Purpose of the event was to develop, the ability to create a clear message and aptitude to deliver the message effectively. Students from all the departments showed their talent. Judges of the event were Dr. Shazia Naureen, (Assistant Professor Department of Education) and Dr. Tayyaba Batool (Visiting lecturer). Dr. Shamsa Aziz (Chairperson, Department of Education) appreciated and encouraged the students to participate in academic events.

Department of Education (female campus) International Islamic University organized a workshop on “Research Design and Data Analysis†for research scholars of MS and PhD. Purpose of the seminar was to foster sound knowledge and skills about statistical test used in quantitative data analysis.
Dr. Zarina Akhtar, Assistant Professor, (Department of Education) was resource person. She provided practical acquaintance to conduct desired statistical techniques to test hypotheses. Department of Education (female campus) International Islamic University organized a seminar on “APA Referencing Styleâ€ÂÂÂÂ. Dr. Munazza Mahmood, Assistant Professor, (Department of Education) served as resource person. She delivered comprehensive lecture on APA Referencing style used for text and bibliographic citations in research. She highlighted all the instructions used for referencing the articles, books, reports, internet resources followed by APA (6th edition). Research students of MS, PhD and faculty members of department of education attended the seminar. Seminar on “Gap Identification and Data Analysis in Qualitative Research
Department of Education (Female Campus) International Islamic University, Islamabad organized the seminar on “Gap Identification and Literature Reviewâ€ÂÂÂÂ. Dr. Noreen Saher, (Chairperson, Department of Anthropology) graced the seminar as resource person. She underlined the innovative ways of selection and screening of literature review in systematic way. Furthermore, emerging trends and skills of literature review for identifying gape in qualitative research were discussed with research scholars. Interactive seminar was attended by Faculty members, Research Scholars and students of the department. Teacher is the most important personality in the educational domain and deserves appreciation. For this purpose Teachers’ Dayis celebrated every year on October 5 since 1994. To highlight the significance of teachers in society Department of Education, Female Campus celebrated Teachers’ Day to pay tribute to the teachers. Students of MA Education 3rd semester decorated Fatima-tu-Zahra block and Maryam block and greet teachers warmly with flowers, badges and cards. Furthermore, students have organized the walk in the campus to mark the day. It was largely participated by chairperson Department of Anthropology Dr. Noreen Sahar, Chairperson Department of Education Dr. Shamsa Aziz, faculty members and students for the acknowledgment of the teachers. They were carrying banners to highlight the worth of teachers in the world. Participants of walk lauded the significance of Teachers integrity, prosperity and honor. Dr. Shamsa Aziz appreciated the determination and enthusiasm of students of MA Education 3rdsemester. VP Female Campus Prof. Dr. Farkhanda Zia acknowledged the efforts of students to mark the day.
