DEPARTMENT OF BIOINFORMATICS CONDUCTS WORKSHOP ON BIORISK MANAGEMENT, SAFETY AND SECURITY

Department of Bioinformatics and Biotechnology (BI&BT Female Campus) conducted a one day workshop on “Biorisk Management, Biosafety and Biosecurity” for the students of the department. It was conducted in collaboration with American Society for Microbiology, Pakistan Chapter.

ASM Young Ambassador Mr. Faheem Shehzad, Health Security Partners, USA technical advisor Ms. Samreen Sarwar and Pakistan Biological Safety Association program coordinator Dr. Javed Muhammad, were the resource persons for the workshop.

They briefed about the idea of biological safety in laboratories which is essential to work in a lab, while students got the chance practice different techniques that are used in laboratory safety.

The workshop was followed by closing ceremony of the event which was attended as Chief Guest by Dr. Aamer Ikram, Executive Director National Institute of Health, Pakistan and President Pakistan Biological Safety Association. The workshop was also attended by IIUI Rector Dr. Masoon Yasinzai who is also a renowned bio scientist. He shed light on the topic and shared his experiences of the research. He called for inter disciplinary research and apprised the participants about the advancements and level of technology in research in the contemporary era. The ceremony was also attended by Dr. Arshad Zia, Dean FBAS, Dr. Asma Gul, Chairperson and other faculty members.  On the occasion, the organizers were appreciated for conducting the successful program who included  Dr. Zareen, Dr. Shaheen and  Dr. Fareeha
