Talking with the students and faculty members of the delegation Rector IIU Professor Feteh Muhammad Malik said that Pakistan and Bangladesh have strong religious, cultural and historical bonds. Professor Malik urges that we should forget the bad experiences of the history. He lauded the role of such student exchange programs in building the relationships between the new generations of both the countries.

Earlier Dr. Shahid Akhtar Dean Faculty of Social Sciences University of Dhaka talking at the Female Campus of International Islamic University said that after visiting twelve Pakistani universities we have concluded that there is no sign of war in Pakistan and nor fundamentalism as the media project about Pakistan. He added that we have perceived that females are free and equal in all discipline of life in Pakistan to contribute to the development of this country. Dr. Shahid strongly condemns the propaganda of western media against Pakistan for creating false picture of this nation. Dean FSS, University of Dhaka invite those who has not visited Pakistan to come and visit this country to see the peace and standard of education in the universities of this country.

Dr. Shahid appreciates Higher Education Commission of Pakistan for the arrangement of such informative tour of Bangladeshi students. He considered the universities of both the countries have equal standards.

Director General International Islamic University, Gulzar Ahmad Khwaja presents a comprehensive briefing to the students about the academic programs of the university. He was addressing the participants of a reference organized by IIUI in the memory of late Dr. Nabi Bux Khan Baloch, a renowned scholar and educationist, here on Monday. Professor Dr. Nazir A. Sangi, Vice Chancellor, Allama Iqbal Open University presided over while Dr. Abdul Ghaffar Soomro, Secretary Ministry of Sports, was the guest of honour on this occasion.

The road between the Academic Blocks Male and Female Campus connecting to the Central Library, New Campus, IIUI, is named as “Dr. Nabi Bux Baloch Road”. The Rector, IIUI and Vice Chancellor, AIOU inaugurated the road.

Speaking on the occasion, Professor Fateh Muhammad Malik paid rich tribute to Dr. Nabi Bux Baloch for his remarkable service for Islamic University in particular and the country in general. He said the University will always remember Dr. Baloch for his services for the establishment this unique institute of higher learning. The Rector IIUI recalled that Dr. Baloch started Islamic University with a total strength of nine students and now there are more than twenty thousand students enrolled in different programmes of IIUI.

The Vice Chancellor AIOU, in his presidential address, said that modern researchers can also get proper guidance and assistance from the books of Dr. Nabi Bux Baloch. His books teach the lesson of humanity and peace, Dr. Nazir A. Sangi added. He said that Dr. Baloch always preferred to personally visit the fields for verifying the sources for his researches.

On this occasion, Dr. Abdul Ghaffar Soomro presented a detailed overview of the work and scholarly personality of Dr. N. B. Baloch. He said that work of Dr. Baloch presents new ideas especially in Sindhi music and Sindhi folk.

Earlier, Muhammad Qasim Haider, Dr. Nabi Bux Jumani, Professor Qaiserah Alvi, Sadia Tahir highlighted various aspects of the scholastic works and renowned personality of Dr. Nabi Bux Khan Baloch.

In his remarks, Muhammad Qasim Haider said that the objective of Dr. Baloch’s work on folk was to promote brotherhood in the country. He said that the Dr. Baloch’s efforts for separation of Sindh from Bombay in 1935 and his active role in Tehreek-e-Khaksar can not be ignored. Qasim Haider said that Baloch has worked on almost every subject including the music.

Dr. Nabi Bux Jumani said that Dr. Baloch was a teachers’ educationist because he worked a lot for Islamic education system. He said that Dr. Baloch may be named as father of teachers’ education.

Professor Qaiserah Alvi said that Dr. Baloch produced many work in the history and in different languages. She said that Dr. Baloch was a great educationist who never retired from his scholastic work. Sadia Tahir said that besides linguistic work Dr. Baloch was also affiliated with politics and Tehreek-e-Khaksar. He also played vital role in the independence of Pakistan. He was pioneer in forming Muslim Students Association and celebrating first Pakistan Independence Day in America.

Among a number of teachers, students, officers and employees of IIUI, Dr. Zia ul Haq, Dean, Faculty of Shariah and Law, Shagufta Haroon Director (Academics), Khursheed Alam Director (Finance), Tabrez Aslam Director (Personnel), and Khalid Mahmood Raja Director (Administration) were also present.

IIUI is an international Islamic seat of higher learning, research instruction and training in various branches of knowledge with special emphasis on Islamic Studies, science & technology, social sciences and humanities. This was stated by Gulzar Ahmad Khwaja, Director General (Admin Finance & Planning), IIUI, after a meeting with a delegation of Middlesex University London here on Thursday. The members of delegation were Dr. Waqar Ahmad, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research and Enterprise Executive, Middlesex University London; and Professor Dr. Raj Gill, Regional Director Middle East, Africa and Pakistan.

Talking to the delegation, Gulzar Ahmad Khawaja said that a comprehensive proposal should be prepared to facilitate the exchange of students especially in the field of research. The proposal was agreed by the delegates of Middlesex University and a MoU will be signed in this regard in near future.

On this occasion, Dr. Waqar Ahmad said that research students and supervisors should be more close to each other to frequently discuss and analyze the findings of their work.

During the meeting, different other proposals were also discussed which include facilitation of visa process, and if student from IIU conduct research work at Middlesex University and spent less than three years, the joint degree will be awarded and if spend more than three years then it was agreed that the degree will be awarded by Middlesex University. The financial rebates for the brilliant as well as IIU students were also discussed and highly weighted in the meeting to encourage more students towards research & developments.

Senior Faculty Members of IIUI including Dr. Rauf A Sheikh, Chairman, Graduate and Undergraduate Studies, Faculty of Management Sciences,; Dr. Asad Zaman, Dean, International Institute of Islamic Economics; and Dr. Muhammad Sher, Chairman, Department of Computer Sciences, were also present on the occasion.

Talking to the delegation, Professor Fateh Muhammad Malik said that Pakistan-Iran have numerous cultural, religious and geographical importance for each other, similarly the foundations of both the universities are common to promote Islamic as well as modern education. He added that Pakistan and Iran are the strong elements of Muslim brotherhood bond. The Rector IIUI expressed the hope that this relationship will be stronger in future. He also sought help from the Iranian university for promoting the Department of Persian at IIU in terms of teachers and other academic support. Professor Fateh Muhammad Malik proposed that we should develop a Memorandum of Understanding to promote research as well as Urdu and Persian languages in both the universities.

Speaking on the occasion, Professor Sajjad Hashmian said that International Islamic University Islamabad is striving for the same cause just like Al-Mustafa University Iran. He also invited the Rector IIU to visit Al-Mustafa University Iran to promote bilateral understandings between both the universities. Professor Hashmian said that Al-Mustafa University Iran have several branches in other countries but unfortunately not here in Pakistan, but “I am satisfied and happy that our task of promoting Islamic and social sciences education is efficiently achieved by IIUI. He also agreed to cooperate with IIUI to deliver more to both the countries through Islamic brotherhood.

Gulzar Ahmad Khwaja extended full support from IIUI to promote cooperation between both the universities in the fields of research and languages. Later, Prof. Fateh Muhammad Malik presented university souvenirs to the visiting guests.

Mrs. Irum Fatima, Director Planning & Monitoring Division was briefed about the activities of the centre. Various proposals were discussed relating to the expansion, infrastructure, staff and funds of the baby care centre. Mrs. Irum Fatima visits the centre, meets with the Childs/babies. She appreciates the operation of the baby care centre. Mrs. Irum Fatima added that IIU has more women strength as compare to other Universities of the capital, which is very relevant area for our Ministry of Women Development to spend more for women development. She proposed that projects should be submitted to the Ministry regarding development of women in IIU, which will be analyzed according the rules and guidelines of the Ministry.

Professor Qaisara Alvi, thanks the Director Planning & Monitoring Division for her visits to IIU. Professor Alvi speaks on the occasion that we have more then 50 Childs/babies currently at the baby care center and this is the maximum capacity of this centre which needs to be expanded.

Mr. Khurshid Alam, Director Finance discussed various financial matters with the Director Planning & Monitoring Division, Ministry of Women Development.

Addressing the participants, Prof. Fateh Muhammad Malik, Rector, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), congratulated the position holders and said that we should follow the teachings of Islam to cope with the current challenges faced by Muslim Ummah. He stressed the need to understand real message of Quran under the supreme guidance of our Holy Prophet (PBUH). The Rector IIUI said that we should avoid those organizations that are engaged in misguiding Muslims through wrong interpretation of the message of holy Quran.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Sahibzada Sajid-ur-Rehman, Director General, Da’wah Academy, said that this the first time that Da’wah Academy is awarding certificates to the participants of Islamic correspondence courses at a ceremony. He said that since the establishment of Da’wah Academy in 1985 these correspondence courses have been started. He said about seventy thousand male and female from all over the country have so far been registered in correspondence courses and more than thirty nine thousand have successfully completed different Islamic correspondence courses. The Director General, Da’wah Academy, IIUI, said that the prime objective of the Academy is to spread the message of Islam. Dr. Sahibzada Sajid-ur-Rehman also congratulated the position holders of Islamic Correspondence Courses. The Director General said that no nation can achieve success without quality education. He said that these courses are good source of imparting Islamic education to those who want to get knowledge of Quran and Hadeeth.

On this occasion, Maulana Misbah-ur-Rehman Yousafi, Incharge Department of Islamic Correspondence, Da’wah Academy presented a comprehensive report about the activities and achievements of the Department.

Syed Zafar Shah, representative of participants of Islamic Correspondence Courses, lauded the role of teachers and staff of Da’wah Academy. He said that these courses are useful in imparting knowledge of Islam, Quran and Hadeeth. He said people can get benefit from theses courses while sitting at home. He announced his contribution of one hundred thousand rupees for each such programme in future. He also announced to give ten thousand rupees to two workers of Department of Islamic Correspondence Courses.

Later, the Rector IIUI conferred certificates of merit and honorary shield to the position holders. The position holder include; Sajida Manzoor, Ayasha Ambreen, Saira Salam, Muhammad Ilyas, Zubaira Karima, Abrar Ahmad Qureshi, Tariq Saeed, Muhammad Nouman, Nafeesa Akram Awan, and Raja Imran Yousaf. Three employees of IIUI working in Department of Islamic Correspondence, Muhammad Usman Bhatti, Muhammad Farooq Rao and Muhammad Gulzar Awan of Da’wah have also been awarded honorary shield for their best performance.

Organized by Department of Islamic Correspondence, Da’wah Academy, IIUI, the ceremony was attended by a large number of male and female participants of different courses. A number of teachers, officers, and employees of IIUI were also present on the occasion.

Addressing on the occasion, Professor Fateh Muhammad Malik, lauded the role of academics staffs of IIUI and assured that the university, despite limited resources, is trying its best to provide funds for research and to improve the teaching standard. He urged the teachers to play their due role in improving the teaching standard of the university. The Rector IIUI said that academic staffs of IIUI will be given equal rights and facilities as per other universities in Pakistan.

In his speech, newly elected President ASA, Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Bashir, said that the appointment of academic staffs in the University should be transparent and on merit. He said there should be proper mechanism for capacity building and career building of the IIUI academic staffs which will improve the teaching standard of IIUI.

The ceremony was attended by Deans of Faculties, Heads of Departments, and a large number of teachers.

The Directorate of Planning and Projects, IIUI, has proposed four tube-wells, at H-10 Campus of IIUI, to cater the growing water requirements of more than six hundred thousand gallons for university students and employees. This project will be completed in two phases. In the first phase, work on two tube-wells has been inaugurated at H-10 Campus, which is expected to be completed within seven weeks. Similarly work on installation of water supply line of more than 6000 running feet has also been inaugurated. After completion of these projects, water source of IIUI will reach the limit of seventy-five percent of its total requirement.

The Rector IIUI also inaugurated the work on causeway, proposed by Directorate of Planning and Projects, to link the new campus with IQRA Centre for Technical Education of IIUI and the proposed staff colony which is expected to be started in near future.

At the inaugural ceremony, Mr. Tahir Khan, Deputy Director (Civil), gave a detailed briefing about the projects to the Rector IIUI and the participants. He also lauded the role of Rector IIUI in supporting his Department for starting developmental projects in the University.

Speaking on the occasion, Professor Fateh Muhammad Malik appreciated the efforts of the Directorate of Planning and Projects. The Rector IIUI said that we are implementing the development projects planned by Dr. Anwar Hussain Siddiqui, Ex-President, IIUI. He urged the university officers and employees to work diligently to achieve more developmental goals of the University. Professor Fateh Muhammad Malik said that University is committed to benefit the students and these projects will meet the water requirements of university students. On this occasion, the Rector also lauded the role Officers Welfare Association (OWA) and University Staff Welfare Association (USWA) for their welfare activities.

Speaking on the occasion, Chaudhry Muhammad Nazir, President, USWA, thanked to the Rector IIUI for increasing medical allowances of all the employees. The President (USWA) expressed the hope that, in future, the Rector and President IIUI shall also show the same spirit for the welfare of University employees.

Speaking on the occasion, Sahibzada Sajid-ur-Rehman, Director General, Da’wah Academy highlighted the importance of the newly established Information Centre. He said that it will provide information about the functions and achievements of IIUI and its constituent units, as well as information about other universities, Faisal Mosque, other famous Mosques and bookshops in Pakistan and all over the world. He said that audio and video recording of all important lectures, researches and training programmes of Da’wah Academy and IIUI, and of other renowned religious personalities will be played at the Information Centre to benefit the general visitors.

He was addressing at a seminar on “Bangladesh-Pakistan Relations: Challenges and Opportunities” organized by Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue (IRD), International Islamic University Islamabad at Faisal Mosque Campus, Islamabad. H. E. Mr. Suhrab Hussain, High Commissioner Peoples Republic of Bangladesh was the chief guest on the occasion. The seminar was attended by a large number of scholars, intellectuals, teachers, and students.

Senator Mushahid said that though Bangladesh is a secular state but the core common element between both the countries is Islam. Referring to the warm welcome of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto in 1974 and sentiments of Bangladesh’s peoples for Pakistan’s cricket team during matches, Mushahid said that these sentiments are the prime example of our cordial relations. Mushahid said that there is need to understand the development in Bangladesh as it came into being after Pakistan. Referring to the empowerment of women in Bangladesh, the Senator said that no country can progress without women education and the women role in Bangladesh is very active. He said that there are some mistakes from Pakistan side on different matters with Bangladesh for which we should offer unqualified apologies.

Addressing on the occasion, Professor Fateh Muhammad Malik, Rector IIUI said that stranded Pakistanis (Biharis) should be settled in Bangladesh permanently as Bangladeshi citizen. He shared the ideas of Quaid-i-Azam and Allama Iqbal for the independent Muslim states in Bengal and present area of Pakistan. He said that Bangladesh and Pakistan are going to become spiritually united.

The High Commissioner of Bangladesh, in his remarks, appreciated the efforts of International Islamic University Islamabad for organizing this seminar. He said that such events will certainly improve the bilateral relations between both the countries. Mr. Suhrab Hussain that Bangladesh gives importance to its relations with Pakistan and despite constraints we like to move ahead. He said that democracy can be a vital pillar for developing our cordial relations and cultural. He added that religious linkages can also be helpful for good relations. Mr. Suhrab said that during floods, disasters and calamities both the countries should help each other instead of seeking help from donors. He said that in such situations we can share our experiences and expertises to meet the challenges. The High Commissioner of Bangladesh said that people-to-people contacts and exchange of students, teachers and intellectual can also strengthen our relations. He said that people of Bangladesh have good gestures for Pakistanis and let us to work further strengthening our relations.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad, President IIUI, shared some of his memorable experiences and observations about the people and culture of Bangladesh. He termed the people of Bangladesh as freedom loving people. The President IIUI also specifically highlighted the empowerment of women and the education in Bangladesh.  He said that both the nations have same sentiments of love and respect for each others.

Dr. Nazar-ul-Islam, Foreign Professor and Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, IIUI, during his speech read his paper which was presented on the occasion of Bangladesh Day 2011. He said that Bangladesh-Pakistan are enjoying cordial relations. He said that the relations of both the countries are deep rooted not only in common faith in Islam but also in history, culture, common political prospects. Pakistan offers to develop nuclear power plant in Rooppur, Bangladesh which is a good gesture to improve bilateral relations between the two countries, Dr. Nazar ul Islam said. He said that the world community should help in rehabilitation of stranded Biharis. He said that the impact of cultural exchange programmes can be seen in the relations of both the countries. Dr. Nazar added that governments of both the countries should provide more scholarships for students of Bangladesh and Pakistan to pursue their higher studies. He urged both the countries to adopt suitable tracks of diplomacy to seek friendships as well as to turn enemies into friends. 

At the end of the seminar, souvenir was presented to the chief guest by the Rector IIUI.

On the occasion, Dr. Sher, Chairman DCS, briefed the visiting HEC experts and media persons about the Department’s efforts in the field of research and software development. He also highlighted the efforts being put in the filed of research. In his welcome note he mentioned that this year department has a remarkable number of publications in International and National HEC recognized journals. He expressed the hope that soon the Department of Computer Science, IIUI will be in second place in Pakistani universities in terms of research and publications. He also appreciated the efforts of his team members to guide and assist the students to produce such international software. The Chairman DCS specially congratulated the students who developed such quality software.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Muhammad Riaz, Dean, Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences emphasized the need of research for the development of Pakistan. He expressed the resolve that the Department of Computer Science will soon develop linkages with the industries and commercial sector to market new ideas of the students. Dr. Riaz congratulated the Department of Computer Sciences for organizing such a healthy and constructive activity.

Ms. Aayesha Ikram, Director, Media, HEC, lauded the efforts of DCS for presenting such interesting and highly quality software in different areas of computer science. She also appreciated the research trend in Department of Computer Science and hoped that it will keep on participating in such activities and playing its role in the development of country.

Mr. Najib highlighted the role of Radio in bringing positive revolution in country. He said that Radio is the only medium which is reaching to every audience and proper coverage to the locals while listening to their feedbacks thus providing everyone a chance of Freedom of Expression. He said that there are only two laws out of ten which has been passed from parliaments, while others have self modified by PEMRA under closed doors. He told the students about the role of FM during national crisis of 2005 earthquake.

While talking to the participants, Executive director Inter Media Mr. Adnan Rehmat, who is responsible for implementing a string of media development projects funded by USAID, US state department, DFID, FCO-UK and Swiss SDC, said that Pakistan is multiethnic and multilingual Nation. The FM Radio which focuses on local coverage fulfills the right of information to everyone legally. He told that there are more than hundred FM-Channels in Pakistan which are meeting the demands of local communities in various languages. He told that radio is the only medium which is covering the communities of FATA, Baltistan, Balochistan and other far areas of country thus decreasing the sense of threatened by other ethnicities of country. He termed the FM Radio as messenger of Peace and harmony for Pakistan. He lauds the efforts of Radio journalists who are working under low wages for hours to provide competent news coverage of localities which are ignored by Electronic and Print media.

Dr. Zafar Iqbal told the students about the importance of Radio, which is reaching to every place where other media failed reach their audiences. He told how various countries have used radio for the development and education sectors. While analyzing the currents state of FM in Pakistan, Dr. Zafar said that with the growing development of political and economic conditions of country FM will also emerge. He told about his efforts for establishing FM-Channel in CMC which has already successfully established its own studio.

The students of CMC were offered volunteer work at Power Radio 99 by Mr. Najib, were they could be able conduct their own programs and thus bringing the fresh ideas to market.

In the first session, Dr. Khawaja Muhammad Zakariya and Dr. Saadat Saeed highlighted various aspects of the poetry and personality of Faiz Ahmad Faiz. Dr. Saadat introducing the Faiz Ahmad Faiz said that Faiz was the voice of human freedom and always loved freedom of expression. He said that main feature of his career was affiliation with the progressive movement. Khawaja Muhammad Zakariya said that after Allama Muhammad Iqbal, Faiz Ahmad Faiz and Noon Meem Rashid are the leading prominent poets of the subcontinent. He said that Faiz was an ideological poet and his name and poetry will be remembered forever. He said that ideological poets always express their thoughts through poems. The guest of honour, Agha Nasir, discussing about the poetry of Faiz, said he never feel any fear of death. On this occasion, Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad also shared his meeting with Faiz Ahmad Faiz in 1976. He said that cultural awareness of Faiz was also reflected in his personal life which linked with the tradition of our Holy Prophet (PBUH). A renowned TV artist Kanwal Naseer also read a poem of Faiz.

The second session of the seminar specifically focused on the live and career of Noon Meem Rashid. Dr. Muhammad Fakhar ul Haq Noori discussed various aspects of the poetry and life of Noon Meem Rashid. He said that the poetry of Rashid also taunted the Western elements. On this occasion Professor Qaiserah M. Alvi expressed her feelings through reading a poem of Rashid. Dr. Nazir Tabasum Kashmiri has also thrown lights on the life and thoughts of Rashid. The daughter of Noon Meem Rashid, Nasreen Rashid, speaking on the occasion, shared some important moments of her life with father. She also rejected some published wrong statements about Rashid. She said that N. M. Rashid always wanted to achieve success in his career with his own principles. Dr. Anwar Ahmad also spoke on the occasion. Addressing on the occasion, Professor Fateh Muhammad Malik said that Rashid’s poetry reflects his spiritual love and affections with Islam which can not be seen in other poets of the new era. He said that he was a great poet of his time and his work will be remembered for ever.

The poetry, thoughts and concepts of Dr. Wazir Agha was discussed in the last session of the seminar. In her address, Sadia Tahir highlighted various aspects of the poetry and career of Dr. Wazir Agha.

A large number of students, teachers, and senior officers of IIUI and representative of various organizations attended the seminars. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman, Director General, Da’wah Academy, IIUI, Dr. Zia ul Haq, Dean Faculty of Shariah and Law, Dr. Muhammad Safeer Awan, Assistant Professor, Department of English, IIUI also graced the occasion.

He stated this while speaking as a chief guest on the occasion of prize distribution ceremony of the 2nd Open House organized by the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET), IIUI for male and female student separately. Congratulating the work of IIUI students, Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad said I am considerably impressed by the creative and intellectual work of the students. He also congratulated the first batch of female engineering students and encourages them that this is the era where one can just survive with technology. Referring to millions of deaths, in the 20th century, caused by misuse of technology, Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad said that technology should be used for development of the society, not for the destruction.

Speaking on the occasion, the President IIUI appreciated the efforts of the faculty members for producing such a brilliant minds that develop such creative projects. He placed the example of twenty students of business administration in Bangladesh and their association named “Soudagar” who assisted each other as per their specialties to form a company and within no time they were all owners of well reputed companies.

Earlier, Dr. Muhammad Riaz, Dean Faculty of Engineering and Technology, IIUI, in his welcomes address appreciated the efforts of the students and faculty members for the arrangements of this Open House. He informed that the University will make Iqra Centre for Technical Education (ICTE), IIUI to award B-Tech degree this year.

Later, The President IIUI awarded prizes to winners of different competitions. In final year projects competition; Sehrish Amjad , Shafaq Hasan, and Nuseiba Suleman got first position for their project ‘Intelligent Camera’; Hira Sana, Nazish Gohar, and Sehrish Ashafaq secure second position for ‘Magic Stick for blind person’; and Shumaila Akram, Rahia Bashir, and Hira Hassan, remained third for their project ‘Digital gas controller’. In poster designing competition; Huma Shaheen, and Aqsa Altaf secured first position; Ayesha Kanwal, Afshan Rehman and Anam Mehreen stood second; whereas Hira Sana, Nazish Goher, Sehrish Ashfaq remained third. And in Term project competitions; Ayesha Jehan, and Irum Zubair obtained first position; Wajeeha Gul, and Mehwish Qazi got second position, whereas Sumbal Iqbal, Anam Ali Khan, and Anam Saleemi were remained third.

Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed, President, International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI), and Dr. Muhammad Riaz, Dean, Faculty of Engg & Tech (FET) giving away a shield to winner students of IIUI during the prize distribution ceremony of “2nd Open House – 2011″ at the IIUI.”

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Muhammad Riaz, Dean Faculty of Engineering and Technology, IIUI, hailed the efforts of students and said that the students have successfully invented the ideas for commercial and industrial production which is being imported from abroad. He said that if the students of Engineering at local universities are supported by commercial sector, they can be able to fulfill the market demands locally. He termed Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET), IIUI a promised future for commercial and industrial production.

A number of male and female students of Faculty of Engineering and Technology, IIUI displayed their project presenting innovative ideas at 2nd Open House. Thirty-four projects of female students and twenty-six projects of male students were displayed separately at both the campuses. The students shared their ideas at respective stalls with gesture to contribute in development of the country. The students used latest IT and Engineering knowledge for developing their innovations. The guests took keen interest in the projects and lauded their efforts. Visitors took keen interest and asked questions from students about different features of their projects. Some of the projects were the key focus of the visitors which include “Magic Stick for Blind Person”, “Sound Based Elevator Control System for Blind Persons”, “Intelligent Wheel Chair Remotely Controlled by Hand Gestures”, “Portable Heart Monitoring Device”, “A Small Power Plant On A Canal”, and “In-Flight Path Control of a Model Aircraft”. Various organizations including Pakistan Vacuum Society, NINVAST and others also displayed different products in the Open House.

The event was attended by a number of senior faculty members, officers, and students of IIUI and other universities and professionals from industrial organizations, institutions, and academia. Dr. Zia ul Haq, Dean Faculty of Shariah and Law; Qaiserah M. Alvi, Director Female Campus; S. M. Bhutta, Professor Department of Electronic Engineering; Dr. Nouman Khan, Chairman, Department of Electronic Engineering; Engr, Saba Hameed, Incharge, Department of Electronic Engineering, Female Campus; Khursheed Alam, Director (Finance), Mahmood Ahmad Farooqui, Additional Director (P&PR), and Shahid Ikram, Lecture, FET, were also present on the occasion.

The event was organized by the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET), International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) at male and female campuses separately. The aim of the event was to provide an opportunity to intellectuals, industry professionals, and students to exchange their ideas.

The projects of male and female students will be displayed in their respective campuses, thus providing fresh ideas to the market. This show will also help the students to seek their carriers in the industry or pursue for higher studies.

After the success of last year annual Open House, FET is focusing to familiarize the educational and industrial community of the potential of the students, quality of FET at IIUI, state of the art technology and the projects being completed and currently undertaken under the supervision of highly qualified faculty.

The event at the largest department of IIUI, will attract organizations, institutions, academia and students of various universities and colleges. The national and multinational corporations including KRL, Allied Engineering Services, Wi-Tribe, Telephone industries of Pakistan, Zong, Mobilink, Integrated Solutions, International Polymer Industries, Air Weapon Complex and Fatima Jinnah University are taking part in the event will also conduct interviews of FET students for employment.

The faculty members will also display their commercial and research advances in the Open House. It is a promised great opportunity for all the intellectuals, industry professionals and students alike to take maximum benefit from this “Open House”.
