A high-level delegation from the Republic of Maldives, led by H.E. Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, Minister of Islamic Affairs, Maldives, paid a courtesy visit to the President of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed. The delegation included Deputy Minister of Islamic Affairs, Maldives Mr. Ali Ahusan, First Secretary Ms. Aminath Zuhudha, and Second Secretary Mr. Ismail Mufeed.
The delegates are participating in an international conference hosted by the Ministry of Education and Professional Training Islamabad in collaboration with the Muslim World League, titled the International Conference: “Girls’ Education in Muslim Countries: Challenges and Opportunities”.
During their visit, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed warmly welcomed the delegation from the Maldives, briefed them about the salient features of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), and highlighted IIUI’s commitment to fostering international academic collaborations and addressing global educational challenges.
The meeting included discussions on mutual academic interests, potential collaborations, and strategies to overcome obstacles in promoting girls’ education in Muslim countries.
The delegation expressed their appreciation for the warm reception and commended IIUI’s role in advancing education and fostering dialogue among Muslim nations.
Later, the delegates were given a comprehensive briefing about the university’s vision and achievements. They also participated in an interaction with IIUI officials, including Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman, Vice President (A&F); Prof. Dr. Amna Mehmood, In-Charge Female Campus; and senior officials and faculty members.
During the interaction, a Maldivian student who had studied at IIUI shared his experiences and reminisced about his time at the institution.
The visit concluded with a shared commitment to advancing educational partnerships and fostering excellence in the Muslim world.
