Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue has started second workshop of its series of workshops on Research Methodology for the students of Faculty of Usuluddin, IIUI.
While addressing the opening session of the second workshop Dr. Husnul Amin, Executive Director, IRD, IIU emphasized that quality research is the need of the hour in this competitive world and IRD will contribute in promoting these sorts of research activities in the University. He opined that the second workshop will address all the difficulties that the researchers in Pakistan encounter while expressing their thoughts and constructing research activities.
Dr. Muhammad Akram, Chairperson, Department of Comparative Religion, IIUI presented introduction of Research Methodology in Islamic Studies and Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood conducted Participatory Session and discussed Islamic traditions, theories with the participants. The workshop was attended by above 150 Ph.D./M.S scholars of Faculty of Usuluddin.
Participants said that modern research methods are important to learn and understand for all research students of Islamic studies. They opined that religions are being practiced in all societies and cultures in diverse ways and it is imperative for all researchers to make sense of these practices and lived religions. The participants were told that new scientific tools of data collection and data analysis are also important to comprehend by the research students of humanities and religions because they provide empirical evidence which enhances our understanding of religious practices in society.
