Professor Dr. Masoon Yasinzai, Rector International Islamic University (IIU) addressed a panel discussion at the forum of Rector’s conference “Debating Education policy 2021” organized by Superior University as part of its virtual seminars and workshops for academicians. It was also joined by Vice Chancellors, policy makers and senior academician of Pakistan and rest the world.
Dr Masoom Yasinzai called for steps to make educational institutions competitive. In response to a question on international students, IIUI Rector said there is a dire need of flagship programs to attract the international students . Talking about the IIUI, he apprised that there is large number of international students specially from China who are taking keen interest in the fields of Islamic studies, Arabic and Islamic Economics there are international students taking interest.
“Out of 44000 teachers, we have only 11000 PhDs and the number is indeed in insufficient” said Dr. Masoom Yasinzai while talking about the deficit of qualified faculty, he added that PhD training slots through HEC must be encouraged. We need to compete the world with competency, skills and technology. He stressed on producing deep rooted knowledge based degrees and suggested that universities must be students centric.
