The participants of a webinar organized by Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue (IRD) observed that preventive measures for Covid-19 and economic effects of the crisis have led to massive psycho-social and political impacts
The opening session of the the webinar titled “Covid-19 Pandemic: Challenges and Impacts on Pakistan” was presided over by Rector, International Islamic University (IIU) Dr Masoom Yasinzai. He encouraged the scholars to work on contemporary issues of Pakistan. He said that the Covid-19 pandemic has left impacts on all spheres of life, the world leaders have realized that health services must be improved in their states.
Talking about the faculty’s response, he said , in the field of education our teachers learned new experiences and successfully completed online semesters. He hailed the academic fraternity for using new pedagogy and new technique of teaching. IIUI Rector hoped that the webinar will surely contribute in generating a debate on Covid-19 impacts on Pakistan.
The speakers of the webinar expressed that while the health impacts are directly through contagion, the economic impacts are largely a consequence of the preventive measures adopted by the respective governments to curtail its spread.
The scholars of various backgrounds besides discussing the political, socio-economic and psychological issues emerged out of the Covid-19 pandemic tried to give road map for their solution. The webinar was attended by the scholars, students and teachers of various universities of Pakistan.
