DME HOLDS SEMINAR ON APPLICATIONS OF COMPUTATIONAL MECHANICS

image 1Department of Mechanical engineering (DME), Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) of the university arranged a workshop on “Applications of Computational Mechanics for Real World Problem Solving”.

The resource person of the Workshop was Dr. Muhammad Abid who is Director Interdisciplinary Research Center and Chairman Mechanical Engineering, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Wah Cantt, Pakistan.

Faculty members, MS-PhD scholars and BS students attended the session in which Dr Abid shared his valuable knowledge & ideas and elaborated his ongoing research on the said subject. He motivated the audience to pursue their research especially in the field of computational mechanics. Dr. Abid also emphasized how academia-industry linkage can benefit the progress of the country.

The workshop covered vital topics such as Modeling and simulation of pressurized systems, Welding simulations for pipe flange joints, Optimization of bolted joints for optimized performance, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding simulation for weld pool optimization, Simulation and optimization of Renewable Energy Systems, Water and sediment flow simulations through Tunnels and Tarbela Reservoir, Simulation of Diesel Engines, Spine modeling and analysis.

At the end, a shield was presented to Dr Abid by Chairman Department of Mechanical Engineering Dr Saeed Badshah.
