IIUI COMMEMORATES COUNTRY’S INDEPENDENCE FLAG HOISTING CEREMONY AND BOOK EXHIBITION HELD

A flag hoisting ceremony and a book exhibition in connection with 69th Independence Day celebrations held at International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) where Rector IIUI Dr. Masoom Yasinzai and President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh hoisted the national flag.
The celebrations were organized by Islamic Research Institute of the university’s Director Dr. Muhammad Zia ul Haq and IRI staff members, while other university high ups also attended the ceremony.
An organized squad of university guards was also present in the ceremony which offered salute to the national flag amid national anthem. Hard work and dedication for the country’s development was vowed on the occasion by IIUI officials.
The book exhibition, at Hamid ullah Library of the university, was inaugurated by Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh where books written on Pakistan Movement were brought on stalls which took special response from the visitors of stalls. On the occasion, an Independence celebrations’ cake was also cut by the President IIUI.
Participants of the exhibition were apprised that Hamid ullah library is home of 2 lac books while its Seerah Library owns rare narrations and known as Asia’s biggest Seerah library where researchers across the world specially come for the research purpose.
“Pakistan is proud of Muslim Ummah which emerged with an objective of Islam” said Dr. Al-Draiweesh during his speech in the ceremony. He added that Pakistan came into existence due to prudent thoughts and untiring efforts of Qaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and great thinker Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
IIUI president furthered that Muslims of Ummah love Pakistan as it’s an omen of Ummah’s unity and betterment. He continued that Pakistanis’ love for Two Holy Mosques is exemplary and both nations Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have a strong bond of brotherhood.
On the occasion, talking to media President IIUI urged for Muslim unity while saying that Muslims’ unity is a need of hour. He said Islam’s enemies want to destabilize Muslim ranks, while there lethal aims can be foiled by remaining united and committed for betterment of Ummah. He furthered that Muslim Ummah’s progress must be top priority of every Muslims.
Director of the event’s organizer institute (IRI), Dr. Muhammad Zia ul Haq paid rich tributes to the leaders and people who sacrificed their lives for emergence of the homeland. He thanked IIUI administration and all departments for cooperation in making the celebrations successful.
The ceremony was also addressed by Director Dawah Academy Dr. Sohail Hassan and Director Shariah Academy Dr. Muhammad Munir who shed light on importance of independence and paid tributes to those who contributed for the cause of country.
Celebrations ended with Dua where betterment of the country and Muslim Ummah was prayed.
SHARIAH ACADEMY TO HOLD TRAINING COURSE FOR MUFTIES

A book exhibition and Flag hoisting Ceremony with reference to the celebrations of Pakistan’s 69th Independence Day will be held at Islamic Research Institute (IRI) of the International Islamic University (IIU) on Thursday.
The ceremony will be held at Faisal Masjid campus at IRI on August 27, at 1.00pm, while it will be graced by the Rector IIUI Dr. Masoom Yasinzai and President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh.
UKRAINE’S AMBASSADOR, IIUI RECTOR DISCUSS WAYS OF ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

Ambassador of Ukraine, Volodymyr Lakomov, Wednesday, called on Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, Rector International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) at his office. During the meeting, issues of enhancing academic excellence through bilateral cooperation were discussed.
The Ambassador emphasized the need for bilateral projects among the educational institutions of Ukraine and IIUI. He assured of all possible cooperation in terms of faculty exchanges and exchange of delegations of experts among IIUI and Ukraine’s educational institutions.
He told that universities having disciplines of sciences and sports are interested in mutual cooperation and hoped soon positive developments would occur after connection between IIUI and institutions of his country.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Masoom Yasinzai said academic excellence is need of hour and this goal cannot be achieved without connection among higher faculties of universities of the countries. He also apprised the ambassador about goals, objectives and faculties of the university. He said that IIUI is keen to discuss launch of sports sciences degree program in collaboration with Ukraine’s universities.
Dr. Masoom also invited the Ambassador to deliver a lecture on importance and history of his country on which he vowed to inform about appropriate time and date of the lecture.
During the meeting, it was also agreed that steps for mutual cooperation, MoUs and visits of experts from both sides would be taken for the improvement of criteria of education.
President International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh visited Arabic Faculty of the university and met with Dean and Faculty members.
In presence of Dean Arabic Faculty Dr Muhammd Bashir Khan and other senior faculty members, President IIUI said that that Arabic is the language of Quran and the Holy Prophet (PBUH), and it is necessary to have introduction with Arabic when it comes to understanding of Quran e Kareem. He was of the view teaching Arabic is a sacred activity.
President IIUI said Arabic learning and teaching is the need of hour. He said Islam is religion of peace and moderation and the students of the Arabic would be able to explore the true message of Islam as they would be able to understand Quran and Hadith. Dr. Al-Draiweesh urged the faculty that dedication be continued for the promotion of language and hoped that the faculty would come up with more positive results in future.
During the meeting, matters pertaining to further enhancing academic excellence were also discussed.
DR. MUNIR DELIVERS LECTURE ON “FROM THE STATE OF THE KHALIFAH TO THE NATION STATE”

A lecture titled “From the State of the Khalifah to the Nation State: The Transformation of Islamic Legal Politics” was delivered by Dr. Muhammad Munir, Director Shariah Academy, on Tuesday at International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI).
Dr. Muhammad Munir is a veteran law researcher at the university and owns HEC Best Teacher Award and jurist-consult for the Federal Shariat Court honor on his account, while presently; he is heading Shariah Academy at IIUI.
The lecture, which was attended by the academy scholars and students, was held at Faisal Masjid campus and it was a glimpse of the opinions of various renowned Muslim jurists and scholars regarding Khalafat and the nation state.
Dr. Munir mentioned that Imam Juwaini was the first Muslim jurist who discussed the possibility of the plurality of Muslim. He thoroughly discussed the different ways in which a caliph can be chosen. He told the audience that according to Shah Waliullah even the takeover by a usurper is legitimate under the doctrine of necessity provided he does not declare infidelity openly.
He stated that modern thinkers have differed on the question of compatibility between shura and modern democracy. Those who consider shura to be the origin of democracy have focused on theoretical issues without providing any details of how to put the theory into practice. “Meanwhile, Muslims across the world are working under western style democracies and talk of Islamization of existing laws rather than dismantling the western model democracies” He said.
He also shed light on the Constitution of Pakistan and explained the role of Islamic provisions and their implications in the legal system.
CONDOLENCE REFERENCE HELD FOR PRESIDENT IIUI’S MOTHER

A condolence reference was held for late mother of Dr. Al-Draiweesh, President International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) at Faisal Masjid campus of the university.
On the occasion, Fateha was offered for the President IIUI’s mother. Dr. Al-Draiweesh, speaking on the occasion thanked all the participants and those who showed sympathies and grief on his mother’s demise. He shed light on importance of parents and said that parents are precious blessing and there is no alternate of this blessing.
He maintained that mother’s demise is no doubt is an irreparable loss, while he thanked for support he got from university and conveyed his thanks to the institution population. The reference was also attended by university high officials, faculty members and employees.

Yesterday, Federal Minister visited IIUI and called on Dr. Al-Draiweesh and prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul that May Allah Almighty showers His countless blessings on her.
Sardar Yousif expressed his sympathy with grieved family and said death of Mother beyond any doubt is irreparable loss which has no alternate in the world. Mother of President IIUI died few days ago in Saudi Arabia after protracted illness.
LECTURE AT IIUI CO-EXISTENCE SOLUTION TO ISLAMOPHOBIA, DR. SUHAIB HASSAN

Muslims facing islamophobia due to rapid growth of Islam in west, while its solution lies in co-existence and upholding the Islamic values, said Dr. Suhaib Hassan on Wednesday in a lecture at International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI).
Dr. Suhaib Hassan is an eminent scholar who works at Islamic Shariah Council, Leyton Lives in London, UK. The lecture was titled “Islam in the west”, while it was organized by Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue (IRD) of IIUI. The gathering was aimed at encouraging culture of intellectual dialogue among the university population.
“Muslims don’t have mentionable influence in the world media, a well devised media policy to disseminate the Islam’s true message necessary in prevailing situation” said Dr. Sohaib. He added that dialogue among Muslims and discouragement of sectarian division, were key points to be focused.
He was of the view that Muslims in west cannot follow the models of isolation and assimilation as they have a comprehensive religion which is complete code of life and it must be spread across the world, while peaceful co existence formula be followed.
Dr Suhaib shed light on Europe’s religious history as well. He also mentioned efforts by Muslims for preaching of Islam in Europe and told that every week a new mosque is being built which is a positive omen. During question answer session, he also suggested useful books pertaining to Islamic history, western history and Islam’s existence in west.
In the concluding remarks of the event, Dr. Muhammad Zia ul Haq, Director Islamic Research Institute (IRI) urged for discouragement of sectarian differences and stressed that Mosques must be used as social institutions to solve the issues of hour. He also said that Islam’s message regarding relations with the non Muslims must be explored as perfect guidelines have been provided by Islam in this regard.
The lecture was also joined by Dr. Sohail Hassan, Director Dawah Academy, Dr, Talib Hussain Sial Project Director IRD, university scholars and students.
President International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, on Tuesday, visited newly built hostel blocks for the female students of the university.
On the occasion, Dr. Al-Draiweesh was briefed that three new constructed hostels were in the final finishing stages and soon female students be able to avail the opportunity of living in the building. He was apprised that each block has capacity to accommodate more than three hundred students.
While showing satisfaction, President IIUI directed to expedite the efforts for completion of finishing work. He vowed that university would remain keen and committed to facilitate its female students. He also shed light on the importance of female education and instructed that issues of female students be solved on priority basis.
Director General AF&P Khalid Mehmood Raja, officials of Project and Planning, Provosts (male & female) and staff members of female campus were also present on the occasion.
DCW HOLDS LECTURE WITH TITLE “PAKISTAN MERI PEHCHAN”

In connection with Independence Day of Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Dawah Centre for women (DCW), International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) organized a lecture with title” Pakistan Meri Pehchan “.
Speaking on the occasion Mrs. Faryal Umbreen Acting In-Charge DCW said as Pakistan is passing through the time of trial and turmoil but with strong determination and with optimist approach Pakistani nation can overcome all the challenges, upheavals and calamitous situation.
She was of the views that being Pakistani everybody must be grateful to our ancestors who sacrificed their lives for the homeland where Muslims of sub-continent would observe religious freedom, self respect and be free from the cruelty and injustice of Hindus. Mrs. Faryal said everybody has to play its positive role in the development of the country as Pakistan has given us recognition and acknowledgement in the world.
After a lecture, national songs were also played and prizes were distributed on answering the questions.

PRESIDENT IIUI URGES FURTHER ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AT VARSITY

President International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, in a meeting with the top officials of the university on Monday has lauded the admission response across the country and urged the concerned officials to further strengthen the departments in terms of academic progress.
Meeting was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Al-Draiweesh, while it was also attended by the Vice President, Dr. Mohammad Bashir Khan, Dr. Tahir Mansoori, Deans, Director General, Directors and veteran faculty members.
The meeting also discussed issues pertaining to application received in faculties, sponsored students and proposed intake of the students.

Mother of President IIUI had died after protracted illness in Saudi Arabia few days ago.
IIUI officials expressed their deep grief and sorrow over the demise of Dr. Al-Draiweesh’s mother and prayed for the eternal peace of departed soul.
FET ORGANIZES CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP

The Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) conducted CPD workshop to follow the lines initiated by Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) to advance the technical knowledge of its registered member engineers by incorporating “Continuing Professional Development (CPD)” through workshops and seminars across the Pakistan. The training program was carried out for faculty members of FET and the engineers working in different organizations in collaboration with IIUI student branch of International Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE).
There were 80 applicants applied to attend the CPD workshop from academia, industry, strategic organizations and government departments. The CPD workshop carried the significance as the engineers get CPD points from PEC to become professional engineer. CPD workshop covered the basics of nuclear power plant engineering for the commercial electricity generation system. The technical sessions explained the nuclear power plant’s history, its design, its operation, working, infrastructure, its fuel cycles, waste management and radiation hazards.
The last session of the workshop threw light on the functioning, scope and working of nuclear power plants in Pakistan, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority (PNAR). The Resource Person of the workshop was Dr. Engr. M. Afzal Khan from Department of Mechanical Engineering FET, IIUI. He has more than 40 years of experience and expertise in the field of engineering.
IIUI TO HOLD FREE HAJJ TRAINING WORKSHOP ON AUGUST 15

Da’wah Academy of International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) is going to arrange a free Hajj Training Workshop for Male and Female Pilgrims on Saturday.
According to details, free Hajj Training Workshop for male and female Pilgrims would be held at Allam Iqbal Auditorium at Faisal Masjid Campus of university by 10 am to 1 pm on Saturday, August 15. Famous speaker and Director Da’wah Academy, Dr sohail Hassan would be the trainer of the workshop who would train the participants through question answer and video presentation sessions.
The book launch ceremony of “Chinese Soft Power Code” by H.E Syed Hasan Javed, the Pakistan’s Ambassador to Germany, was held here at International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) on Wednesday.
Syed Hasan Javed is also an officer of the Foreign Service of Pakistan, had spent about a decade in China as a diplomat and had also written a book “Chinese Made Easy: Conversational Chinese in a Hundred Lessons”.
“China’s progress has proved that populated countries can excel and influence the world, while development models are not necessary to be followed but dedication and implementation of values can pave the way for success of nations and same was done by the Chinese and now they have influence across the world” he said.
The ceremony was also attended by IIUI Rector Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) Dr. Nabi Bux Jummani, Deputy Dean FSS at IIUI Dr. Saif Abbasi, Head of Department Politics and IR Dr. Manzoor Khan Afridi, Incharge of the department at female campus Dr. Noor Fatima, faculty members including Mr. Masood Khattak and Mr. Tauqeer Sargana.
In his book, Syed Hasan Javed has laid emphasis on importance of soft power while mentioning Chinese strategy and discussed that how it can play significant role to help a nation in playing effective role across the world.
He was of the view that Chinese have continuity of history, while they maintained their culture alive in their practical lives. He added that Islam is a religion of rich attributes implementation of those can help in shining in a unique way among the nations of world. While lauding IIUI role and importance, he added that educational institutions such as IIUI are like a ray of hope for Muslims because these are the places which are going to pay to the coming generations in result of producing educated and well aware minds in future.
During his speech, while mentioning a ceremony of another book, he announced Rector IIUI as an inspiration for narration of the present book. He added that Dr. Masoom had urged him to produce a book on the Chinese soft power code in that ceremony.
The author also attributed China’s rapid change in the past decades to the country’s rich culture and soft power and this book had been launched in China as well, he said.
Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, talking on the importance of Pak-China relationship and its importance through economic corridor, announced that IIUI is mulling to launch a Chinese language degree program at university.
Dr. Masoom urged that 88 attributes mentioned by the author must be opted. He said that Chinese have made it true to be successful through hard work and honesty and same is required here at Pakistan he stressed. He also mentioned his recent talks with a high level Chinese delegation which discussed issues of promoting mutual cooperation through economic corridor. He vowed that IIUI would love to welcome Chinese scholars because both the nations still should explore more in terms of mutual cooperation.
He urged that Pakistanis should present themselves as role model Muslims which he termed as an attribute for success of nation across the globe. “Shine in the eyes of youth is an omen of bright future of nation as Pakistani youth has potential to change the fate of whole Muslim Ummah” said IIUI Rector. He thanked the Ambassador for being at IIUI and writing book on a significant topic while saying that he has narrated the goals of Chinese success by giving lessons to the Pakistanis that how they can achieve those attributes for success.
He added that the book is a must read effort which would help in devising strategies for prevailing circumstances.
Dr. Jummani hailed the book while terming it as a meaningful way of teaching Pakistani nation to explore the ways of progress. He lauded the work of author the way he has discussed Chinese enriching legacy and value system implementation.
Dr. Manzoor Khan Afridi , who is also an expert on Pak-China relations, said that the book is an important effort which deserves appreciation. Dr. Noor Fatima also spoke on the occasion and lauded the effort of author.
MEETING OF HIGHER COMMITTEE FOR IIUI SUPPORT HELD AT AL-IMAM MUHAMMAD IBN SAUD ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY

A high level meeting of the Higher Committee for finding means and ways to support International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) was held in Riyadh at Al-Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University.
The meeting was attended by President IIUI, Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh and members of the committee from Al-Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University.
The meeting discussed various important matters such as exchange of faculty, facilitation to teachers and students for higher studies at Al-Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, matters pertaining to the visit of Judges to Al-Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University and mutual cooperation in the field of IT under prior MoUs between both universities were also discussed.
During the meeting, Dr. Al-Draiweesh apprised the participants about IIUI achievements and its services through its 9 faculties which are being provided to the students of more than 40 countries of world.
The participants of meeting lauded IIUI role for the uplift of education and appreciated the efforts of Dr. Al-Draiweesh regarding IIUI progress. They termed IIUI as a vital educational institution of Muslim world and assured maximum support for its lofty goals such as service of Muslim Ummah and promotion of education in the Islamic countries.
The participants also lauded interest and special support by President of Pakistan and IIUI Chancellor Mr. Mamnoon Hussain. Efforts of IIUI Rector Dr. Masoom Yasinzai and his capabilities were also appreciated during the meeting, while team work of varsity BoT , BoG members and its Vice Presidents was also hailed on the occasion.

A condolence reference was held at Faisal Masjid Campus of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) for the (late) mother of Dr. Ahmad Yousif Al-Draiweesh, President IIUI and relatives of other IIUI officials who died in the previous month.
Fateha was offered for the departed souls of President IIUI’s mother, mother of Dr. Talib Hussain Sial, Director IRD and Father of Shaikh Habib of Dawah Academy.
Participants prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed souls in eternal peace and grant courage and fortitude to members of the bereaved families.
The reference was also attended by Director Islamic Research Institute, Dr. Muhammad Zia ul Haq, while Dr. Asmat ullah, in Dua, prayed for the eternal peace of departed souls.
PRESIDENT IIUI CALLS ON ADVISOR TO ROYAL COURT OF KSA

President International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh called on Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Al-Mutlaq, Advisor to Royal Court of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and Member of Council of Senior Ulema, KSA.
The meeting discussed matters pertaining to the development of IIUI and university’s WAQF project which was lauded by Sheikh Abdullah. He said that IIUI is playing vital role in disseminating Islam’s message while he also appreciated Dr. Al-Draiweesh for his untiring efforts for progress of Ummah’s education.
While apprising about the university plans and efforts, Dr. Al-Draiweesh also presented the WAQF project brochure to the host, while Sheikh Abdullah lauded the project. He also prayed for the progress of IIUI and Muslim Ummah and also praised the mutual relations between both the brotherly countries Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
President IIUI thanked the Royal Advisor for meeting and prayed for the prosperity of Muslim Ummah, while he also lauded the services of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for his dedication for the betterment of Muslims.

Prof. Martin Valcke of Gent University, Belgium, called on Dr Masoom Yasinzai, Rector International Islamic University, and Islamabad (IIUI) at his office. Issues of mutual interest and importance of interactive teaching learning strategies were discussed in the meeting. Prof. Martin Valcke said linkage between Belgium varsities and Pakistani institutes can help in promotion of education and improve its standards.
On the occasion, Dr. Masoom Yasinzai assured that doors of IIUI open for cooperation with all the institutions for betterment and promotion of education. He also apprised him about the IIUI distinctions and its unique vision and importance.
The tree plantation campaign started here at International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) where Rector IIUI Dr. Masoom Yasinzai planted a sapling at new campus of the university.
On the occasion, DG IIUI, Director HR Tabraiz Aslam, Director Administration Khalid Mehmood Raja, Advisor Planning and Project Muhammad Ashraf also planted trees as well, while participants also prayed for prosperity of IIUI. A large number of faculty members and other varsity officials were also present on the occasion.
Rector IIUI prayed for the development of university while he also stressed that plantation awareness must be promoted while terming it the need of time. He urged that youth must be involved in taking constructive initiative such as tree plantation.
IIUI STUDENT CLINCHES 2ND PRIZE IN INT’L DEBATE COMPETITION AT QATAR

A talented student Yahya Yousaf Umer of Department of Shariah & Law, International Islamic University Islamabad clinched 2nd position in the 3rd International University Debate Championship in Arabic (non native category) held at Doha, Qatar which was organized by Qatar Debate Center. 77 teams from across the world with 308 participants took part in the competition of which 14 teams were non Arab.
Team of Islamic University with its 4 member first time participated in this competition and reached to the 5th round out of 7 and received consolation prize. The IIUI team comprised Hassan al Banna from Department of International Relations, Khawaja Aneeq Ahmed from Department of Translation & Interpretation, Yahya Yousef Umer from Department of Shariah & Law and Abdullah from Department of Arabic. Dr. Habib ur Rehman Asim made all his efforts to prepare the team for this challenge focusing on both theoretical and practical aspects of the competition which resulted great achievement.
Faculty of Arabic IIUI praised Qatar Debate Center to expand Arabic Language by organizing such international event. IIUI faculty members appreciated team members over this achievement and wished them best of luck in future endeavors and also hope to establish Arabic Debating Academy in IIUI.
DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION HOLDS SEMINAR ON “OVERALL SCENARIO OF TEACHING AND RESEARCH PRACTICES IN EUROPE”

A seminar titled “Overall Scenario of Teaching and Research Practices in Europe” was organized by the Department of Education, International Islamic University Islamabad. Prof. Martin Valcke of Gent University Belgium was the guest speaker of seminar who enlightened the audience with his valuable knowledge and expertise. It was also graced by Gulzar Ahmed Khwaja Director General AF&P, Dean Faculty of Education Dr. Nabi Bux Jumani, Dr. Samina Malik Director Female Campus and the seminar was attended by faculty members and students. The main theme of this seminar was shifting traditional instructional practices towards interactive teaching learning strategies.
Prof. Martin Valcke practically demonstrated different innovative techniques especially using Plickers (a powerfully simple tool that lets teachers collect real-time formative assessment data without the need for student devices) in order to keep students more involved and interactive during the lesson.
He further presented educational design concept and elaborated its potential elements including learning objectives, learning content, didactical strategies, media and evaluation. Dr. Martin accentuated faculty members and research scholars for using collaborative learning, problem based learning, research based learning, blended learning along with peer tutoring and experiential learning to develop meta-cognitive skills of learners. He also focused on research oriented teaching through interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches.
In her welcome address Dr. Samina Malik thanked to worthy guest for visiting IIUI and delivering such informative lecture to enlighten students and research scholar with new methodologies of learning and teaching. D.G (AF&P) Mr. Gulzar Ahmed Khwaja applauded the team of Department of Education for organizing the seminar and presented shields to the Guest Speakers.
At the end Dr. N.B Jumani, Dean FSS thanked guest speakers and faculty members. Dr. Jumani conveyed regards of the President IIUI to Prof Martin and apprised both the universities will have a MoU soon.
IIUI HOLDS WORKSHOP ON UNDERSTANDING IQBAL’S THOUGHTS

A one day workshop “towards understanding Iqbal in 21st Century was organized here at International Islamic University Islamabad on Wednesday.
The workshop was a joint effort by the Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue (IRD) and Institute for Professional Development (IPD) of university, while it was attended by more than 200 female principals and teachers of IIU schools.
Veteran scholars delivered lectures on key topic during the workshop such as Iqbal’s ideology of education, Iqbal and Youth, Iqbal’s perception of Khudi.
Rector IIUI, Dr. Masoom Yasinzai who spoke to the inaugural session of the workshop said that teachers are the builders who are responsible for the future of 55 million youth of country. He stressed on teachers to explore thoughts of Iqbal and introduce his message to the young minds of society. He urged that students be given religious education as well while adding that education of contemporary subjects is necessary but it does not mean the religious values should be ignored.
Dr. Mohammad Bashir khan, speaking on the occasion said that “Pakistanis are proud of Islam and Pakistan”. He furthered thoughts of heroes such as Allam Iqbal always help to solve the issues and set avenues for setting up future strategies.” Teachers are the people who should convey to the young minds that they should be proud of their history and this must be disseminated among the masses because it helps the youth to refrain from complexes.
Veteran scholars and experts on Iqbal delivered lectures who include Vice President IIUI Dr. Tahir Mansoori, Dr Mohammad Zia ul Haq, Dr. Najiba Arif, Dr. Mohammad Ayub Sabir, Dr. Talib Hussain Sial, and Shamshad Hussain Qadri.
Earlier, Director Dawah Academy Dr. Sohail Hassan elaborated the objective of the workshop while Project Director IPD Dr. Saaed ul Hassan Chishti thanked the participants for attending the event.
Da’wah Centre for Women (DCW) of International l Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) arranged Hajj training program for women Pilgrims.
A large number of female Pilgrims of twin cities participated in the program where Incharge DCW Shagufta Omar delivered detailed lecture on Manasik e Hajj and Ibadaat during the holy journey.
The participants were briefed about various stages of Hajj with the help of pictures. They termed it as a useful and constructive activity.
CONDOLENCE REFERENCE HELD FOR PRESIDENT IIUI’S MOTHER AT FEMALE CAMPUS

A condolence reference was held for the (late) mother of Dr. Ahmad Yousif Al-Draiweesh, President International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), at female campus of the varsity. Mother of President IIUI died last Friday in Saudi Arabia after protracted illness. Fateha was offered for the departed soul, and participants prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and fortitude to members of the bereaved family.
The reference was attended by Director Female Campus Dr. Samina Malik, Students’ Advisor Dr. Najeeba Arif, Chairpersons, faculty members, Additional Director Yaqoob Awan and other official staff.
Da’wah Centre for Women (DCW) of International l Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) would arrange Hajj training program for women Pilgrims on Tuesday, August 04.
The one-day training program would commence at 09.00 am at Lecture Hall, Dawah Centre for Women, sector, H-10, Islamabad. A large number of female Pilgrims of twin cities would participate in the program.
Mother of Dr Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, President International Islamic University (IIU) passed away in Saudi Arabia after protracted illness.
She breathed her last in Al-Zulfi (city of Saudi Arabia). Her funeral prayers in absentia were offered in new campus and Faisal Masjid campus of university after Jumma prayer. Acting President IIU Dr. Mohammad Bashir Khan, Director General Administration IIU Gulzar Ahmed Khwaja and large number of academicians, administrative officers, staff and students offered funeral prayers in absentia.
Rector IIUI Dr Masoom Yasinzai and other high ups of university have expressed grief and sorrow over the death of President IIUI’s mother. In his message, Dr Masoom has said university stands with family of Dr. Al-Draiweesh in this hour of grief. Dr. Bashir Khan, while expressing grief over sad demise prayed for eternal peace of departed soul.
ALI TARIQ OF IRD TO REPRESENT PAKISTAN AT CAMBRIDGE

Ali Tariq, consultant, editor at Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue (IRD) of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) has been selected for Interfaith Programme Summer School 2015 at University of Cambridge, UK, where he will represent Pakistan.
Ali Tariq is the only researcher from Pakistan who will be among an international group of emerging religious leaders from Muslim, Christian, and Jewish backgrounds. These fellow students will come from across the world, including a group of participants from the Sultanate of Oman, a key supporter of the programme, as well as students from Indonesia, Yemen, Nigeria, Palestine, Sweden, Singapore and the UK. The program will commence from July29 and end on August 14 of this year.
The Summer School is an intensive period of immersion in inter-faith and cross-cultural encounter, with a focus on practical peace-making and conflict-transformation. It will explore some of the resources that each tradition offers for peaceful and serious engagement with the others, and look for the forms of coexistence and friendship that are possible between traditions that remain distinct and different.
