IIUI mission is to transform the society by promoting education, training, research, technology, and collaboration for reconstruction of human thought in all its forms on the foundations of Islam.
The minimum CGPA should be 3.00 or First Division in MS/M. Phil either of the following subjects:
International Relations
Political Science
Defense and Strategic Studies
Economics
Law (case-to-case basis)
Development Studies (case-to-case basis)
Media and Mass Communication/Journalism (case-to-case basis)
Pakistan Studies (case-to-case basis)
Area Studies (case-to-case basis)
Program Requirements
The candidate must complete 18 credit hours of coursework in the Ph.D. program.
Upon successful completion of the coursework, the candidate has to appear for a Comprehensive Examination conducted by the Department
The candidate must complete 36 credit hours of additional dissertation writing
The candidate must submit a dissertation to the Department with a attached consent letter from the concerned supervisor
The candidate must also attain a minimum CGPA of 3.00/4.00
Students will follow the APA Manual Style in writing the dissertation
The Ph.D dissertation must be evaluated by at least two experts from technologically advanced countries.
Publication of at least one research paper in an HEC approved journal is also required for the award of the Ph.D degree.
The candidate will give a final thesis seminar right before submission of dissertation. The faculty of the Department will provide feedback, as necessary.
Finally, the candidate has to defend his dissertation in a public defense in a viva-voce examination.
Program Contents:
Coursework: (18 credit hours).
Qualifying Comprehensive Examination
Dissertation: (36 credit hours)
(Total number of credit hours to be completed is 18+36=54)
A minimum of 3.00/4.00 CGPA is required for the award of the Degree
