IIUI: Father of Dr. Zafar Ullah Baig Died
Father of Dr. Zafar Ullah Baig, Dean Faculty of Usuluddin of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) has passed away. He was 95. The funeral prayer was offered at graveyard Sector H-10, Islamabad where the departed soul laid to rest. The funeral was attended by family members including Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman, President IIUI, Prof. Fateh Muhammad Malik, Dr. Anwar Hussain Siddiqui, Faculty members, Administrative Officers, staff members and large number of students who prayed for the departed soul.
29th June is the last date for submission of admission forms for the fall semester 2012, in various programmes offered by the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI). Admission forms can be submitted at New Campus, Sector H-10, Islamabad.
It is come to our knowledge that a university under the cover of Islamic University Pakistan has been established in Sialkot and the people are confusing it with International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI). They consider the said University as a branch of the International Islamic University, Islamabad.
Directorate of Protocol and Public Relations of IIUI clarifies that International Islamic University, Islamabad is working only in Islamabad and this University has no branch in any city of Pakistan including Sialkot.
Public Awareness Seminar on “Drug Abuse Situation in Pakistan”
The teachers can play significant role to aware the students about drug abuse situation in Pakistan to convey message to the entire society regarding this alarming issue. This was said by Professor Dr. Sahibzada Sajid Ur Rehman, President International Islamic University, Islamabad while addressing to a public awareness seminar at the old campus of the University. He was the chief guest of the seminar. The seminar was organized by Department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences of the University. Dr. NB Jumani, Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Seema Gul, Acting Chairperson Deptt of Psychology (Female), Dr. Tahir Khalily, Assistant Professor Department of Psychology and large number of students attended the seminar.
Dr. Sajid ur Rehman said that we can eliminate the rapidly increased drug abuse in our society only to follow Islamic values and Principles in our lives. On the role of education institutions, he said that there is need of effective awareness to inform the students about drug abuse and motivate them to conduct research and share its findings with the society. He said that teachers are the ideal for the students and their personality influence students to change their actions. Dr. Sajid added that the evil cannot be eliminated through strict administrative directives and unnecessary power but just through proper counseling, awareness and rational actions. He further added that in early age when alcohol was not prohibited, everyone kept it as part of their dinning but when it was declared haram, immediately people destroy it without asking any reason and this was all because of the teachings of our Holy Prophet (PBUH).
Principal organizer of the seminar Dr. Khalily said that Substance abuse is not a new phenomenon in Pakistan and people have long been abusing drugs for the various reasons such as pleasure and recreation, social and religious costumes, medical needs and psychological problems. Dr. Khalily urged that there is need to stop supply of the illicit drugs and reduce its demand where treatment is the core approach as drug abuse in Pakistan has increased dramatically in the past few decades. Later, Dr. NB Jumani presented faculty crest to the chief guest Professor Dr. Sajid Ur Rehman.

A delegation of 19 students from Bangladesh headed by Dr. Abdul Khair, Professor, Department of Botany, Jahangirnagar University, Dhaka visited the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) as part of HEC Student Exchange Program between Pakistan & Bangladesh here on Monday. The delegation called on the President IIU, Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad.
Dr. Mumtaz Ahamad in his welcome remarks said that IIU is an International university because our students & teachers came from various countries. He said that despite IIU is younger as compared to other universities but through commitment and enthusiasm we have achieved third position among the largest universities of Pakistan. Dr. Mumtaz said Bangladesh is my second country and I am proud to say that as a social scientist I have worked on Bangladesh for more than 20 years. Answering to a question raised by student Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad said that IIU is still very affordable university for the students of various countries in terms of its fee structures. He further said that a scholar from Bangladesh will be inducted in the BOT of the IIUI in the near future.
Earlier, Mrs. Shagufta Haroon, Director Academic IIUI briefed the Bangladeshi students about IIUI academic programs, teaching faculty and other services of the university. Dr. NB Jumani, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, Dr. Noor Fatima, Head IR Department (Female), IIUI, Dr. Nazrul Islam, Mr. Suleman Ahmad, Deputy Director (Academics) Higher Education Commission (HEC) and others were present on the occasion.
Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad presented university crests to Dr. Abdul Khair and books of Dawah Academy to every student of the delegation. During their visit to IIUI the delegation visited various faculties of the university, female campus and central library. On the arrival of the delegation to the Faculty of Social Sciences, Dr. Zafar Iqbal, HOD Media & Communication and other teachers briefed them about various academic, research and technology based equipments.
When expressing their views about the visit of various Pakistani universities they were of the opinion that they will never forget this trip to Pakistani universities and will brief all their friends and relatives about the education standard and quality of Pakistani universalities.
Dr. Abdul Khair the head of the delegation was also of the view that IIUI is a different and unique university in its nature. It combines various philosophies, like Islamic philosophy, nationalism and internationalism with world standard. The students also appreciated the two separate campuses for male and female students in IIUI.

Professor Ahmed Yousef Al Deriwish, the Vice President Al Imam Muhammad Bin Saud Islamic University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia has said that Pakistan is as dear to us as Saudi Arabia therefore we wish to see Pakistan as an advance and prosperous country in every field of life, He was speaking in a reception arranged by International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) in his honour. He said that future of the Islamic Umma is co-related with an energetic skill full and well educated youth. Therefore it is our prime responsibility to provide such facilities and atmosphere where our youth could prepare them selves for their future responsibilities. He said that we should encouraged our students to get distinction in their studies and thus enhance their capabilities to serve the Umma Effectively. He said that teacher is a role model for the students and if the teacher positively play his role in the character building of their students, every social problem will be automatically overcome. He insured all possible support for IIUI on behalf of Al Imam Muhammad Bin Saud Islamic University and added that Dr. Suliman A. Aba Al-Khail, the Pro Chancellor of the International Islamic University, Islamabad is very keen in the development of IIUI. He said that number of teachers will be provided by Al Imam Muhammad Bin Saud University to IIUI very soon. He added that number of Pakistani teachers will also be engaged for IIUI which will be sponsored by the said Saudi University.
Earlier Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, Rector IIUI warmly welcomed the distinguished guest and appreciated his effort’s for the development of IIU, Professor Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed ,President of International Islamic University briefed Dr. Deriwish about the University. Professor Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman Vice President, IIU Deans, Directors and Head off the Departments were also present in the reception.
Youth of Balochistan, a Strong Hope to Come Forward: Dr Sajid IIUI: 07 days Islamic training program for Youth Leaders of Balochistan
There are some invisible forces trying to achieve their vested interests against our country but the youth of our nation who loves their religion, Prophet (PBUH) and country can eradicate such conspiracies from its roots against the country both inside and outside. It was said by Professor Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman Vice President International Islamic University, Islamabad while addressing to the participants of “13th 07 days Islamic training program for Youth leaders from Baluchistan” organized by Dawah Academy. He said that people of this country are bonded with each other on the basis of Kalma Tayyaba not through any material grounds. He further said that Pakistan is our identity and for its survival, development and growth we need efforts of the youth. Dr. Sajid added that after knowing views of the students of this course from Baluchistan, it has cleared that the propaganda about the prevailing situation totally hazels because the youth of Baluchistan has emotional attachment with Pakistan. He urged the students to act as ambassador of Dawah to spread message of Seerat e Tayyeba in Baluchistan. He considered that Seerat e Tayyeba and Sahaba’s lives are the ideals for us to follow. About the leaderships Dr. Sajid said that the basic quality for a leader is to establish clear and rational target for success and further considered that leader will face difficulties but he/she has to work consistently towards the achievement of target. Dr. Sajid said that the lack of leadership is the basic cause of misunderstanding, differences and intolerance in our society. He said that our Prophet (PBUH) practiced leadership qualities during His entire life.
Earlier, Director Academics Shagufta Haroon briefed the participants about IIUI various academic programs and future plans. The participants of the course including Ibul Haism, Qamar Ullah, Abdul Malik and Muhammad Usama appreciated the course and its contents. Later Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman distributed certificates among the participants.
Renowned Scholar, Writer and Ameer Jamat-e-Islami Hind Moulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari said that Islam is a religion which convince others through arguments not power and the people who talks unlike are not well aware of Islamic educations. He was speaking to the welcome ceremony on the occasion of his visit of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) alongwith a delegation. Other members of the delegation included Muhammad Razi ul Islam Nadvi of Jamat-e-Islami Hind, Dr. Muhammad Kamal, Naib Ameer Jamat-e-Islami, Pakistan and former MNA Mian Muhammad Aslam. Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad, President IIUI, Prof. Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman, Vice President (AF&P), IIUI were also present on the occasion. Faculty members and administrative officers of IIUI also attended the ceremony.
Moulana Jalaluddin said that there is in-dire need of research in the field of various Islamic sciences and arts to present the real picture of Islam to the world. He stressed upon the holding of seminars and workshops to discuss the various current issues from Islamic perspective to find out its positive solution. Moulana Jalaluddin expressed pleasure on research work done by the International Islamic University and said that research work in various field of Islam done by IIUI may not be done by any other university.
Before this President IIUI, Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad in his welcome address briefed the delegation about the IIUI and its constitution units, their progress and future plans. He said that IIUI is playing its role in the field of research as an international institution. Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman thanked the delegation upon visit to the university.
A lunch was also arranged by the university in honour of delegation. At the end Moulana Jalaluddin presented a souvenir to Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad while Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad also presented IIUI Crests to the delegation.
Original and quality research is the need of time, Dr. Mumtaz
Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad, President International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) has stressed the need for original and quality research which has wider scope and which can contribute in national policy making. He was presiding over the meeting of the board of advance studies and research (BASR), IIUI which was held on yesterday. The meeting was attended by the DGs of Academic, Professors, Teachers and Supervisors. Experts from other universities also participated in the meeting.
Research proposals of Ph. D. MS, M. Phil and LLM Level students were discussed at length and only those research proposals which were found in accordance to the criteria were approved and the rest were referred back to the faculties for improvements.
IIUI to hold welcome briefing of Moulana Syed Jalaluddin
The International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) is holding welcome briefing of Moulana Syed Jalaluddin Umari, an Islamic Scholar, Leader Thinker and Reformer on Monday, June 11, 2012 at 12:45 PM in the Council Hall, Administration Block, New Campus of the university.
Moulana Jalaluddin is a prolific writer and wrote many books on various Islamic topics. He is the chief of Indian Islamic Movement, the Jamat-e-Islami Hind and Heads a numbers social, education, religious, academic and reformist institutions.
IIUI to hold intl. conference on “Problematic of quran’s translations in the sub-continent”
A joint meeting of various committees held at the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) to review and discuss the arrangements and various issued about the upcoming International conference on “ Problematic of Quran’s Translations in the sub-Continent” here on Thursday. Prof. Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman, Vice President (AF&P), IIUI presided over the meeting whereas Dr. Khalid Masood, Director General IRI, Dr. Tahir Mansoori, Director General Shariah Academy, Deans of various faculties of the university and Directors Administration & Finance of IIUI were also present on the occasion. The conference shall be jointly organized by Faculty of Arabic, Islamic Research Institute (IRI) and Iqbal International Institution for Research and Dialogue (IRD) of the University.
The meeting was called to discuss various arrangements and issues related to the proceedings of the upcoming international conference. Prof. Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman urged the committee members to complete their work in time and said that it is very important conference and organizers should work with enthusiasm and interest to make it a success.
Prof. Dr. Sahibzada Sajid Ur Rehman, Vice President, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) has said that Arabic is the language of Quran, Muhammad (PBUH) and the heaven which will never go down. He was speaking as Chief Guest on the occasion of Certificate Distribution Ceremony of Short Courses in Arabic Language organized by Arabic Language Centre, Faculty of Arabic, IIUI on Tuesday at Central Library.
He said that the main objective of the establishment of Islamic University was to promote and propagate Arabic language that is why the official languages of the University are Arabic and English and it uses for the teaching of ancient and modern discipline. He said that Quran and Hadith cannot be understand without the sound knowledge of Arabic like wise it is impossible to promote the understanding of religious education in the society without knowing Arabic language. Further more he added that the understanding of Quran and Hadith is the only key for Muslims for real success. He highly appreciated the contribution of Arabic World for promotion of Faculty of Arabic and Faculty of Shariah & Law of the University.
At the end he awarded certificates to the participants of the short courses of Arabic language. Dean Faculty of Arabic, Dr. Mahmood Hassan Makhlouf, Dr. Muhammad Bashir, Dr. Habib ur Rehman Asim and Dr. Zaheer Ahmed, Programme Coordinator also spoke on the occasion.
Mother of Muhammad Naeem, Additional Director (Finance) of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) has passed away. The deceased was laid to rest on Tuesday at graveyard of Sector H-11, Islamabad. Apart from her family members and well wishers her Namaj-e-Janaza was attended by Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad, President IIUI, Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman, Vice President, IIUI, Administrative officers and prayed for the departed soul.
Yar Zaman Mangal, Student from Faculty of Arabic of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) has completed his Ph. D (Arabic) successfully on “Repetition in the Holy Quran in the light of Arab and Sub continent scholars (comparative study)” . Dr. Hassan Tabal, Professor of Department rhetoric and literary criticism of the Cairo University of Egypt and Dr. Ahmad Abdul Jawad Muhammad Okasha, Professor Department rhetoric and literary criticism, Al-Azhar University, Egypt were the foreign evaluators. Dr. Adil Al-Akrat, Faculty of Arabic of the IIUI was the internal examiner while Dr. Abdul Kabir Mohsin and Dr. Mustafa Imam of the Islamic Research Institute (IRI) of IIUI were the external examiners. Yar Zaman Mangal after successful defense of his thesis, got 85 percent marks.
